THIS IS THE FIRST VIDEO OF HENRY'S REAL CHOIR I'VE SEEN AS I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE THE FIRST FEMALE SINGER WHO SANG "MOON RIVER" AS I JUST LOVE HER VOICE!
Sorry to disappoint. The choir you see here, on a BBC-tv recording made in London, isn't the same one that was used on the original Moon River recording in Hollywood. That was the RCA Victor choir, (presumably session singers).
Thank you for posting this! Can anyone verify if this night's version of the Mike Sammes Singers are - (ladies) Valerie Bain, Irene King, Marian Gay, Enid Heard, Barbara Elsy, Sylvia King, (men) Mike Sammes, Mel Todd, Ross Gilmour, John O'Neill, Mike Redway, Michael Clarke & Freddie Williams (not in order). Tape variance or not, what an enrapturing slice of heaven!
I'd suggest its nothing to do with the recording equipment of the time, and I'm sure, as broadcast it was absolutely fine. The distortion is likely down to some very poor copying. A great shame, because I'm sure that was a lovely opening by the great Don Lusher.
Wonderful, of course, but what sounds like a poor enunciation of "...introduced me to..." (1:42) surprised me. Sounds more like 'intraduced' than 'introduced.' Yes, I know. OK. Now I feel better !😊
No, in Hollywood, Mancini recorded under the RCA label and used their chorus (directed by Anita Kerr?) under his name. This was for a London recorded BBC show in 1964 and the Mike Sammes Singers were the top UK ensemble of the time.
I love this tune. The horn player heard in the beginning and at times later in the recording is out of tune and has an unpleasant tone. He ruined it for me.
I was a young teenager when this came out. I like Mancini's work. These singers are just amazing. So nice to finally see them.
A powerful theme for a powerful movie.
A beautiful performance, spoiled slightly by the wow on the recording.
What a shame. Nice clean piece of tape otherwise. I'm betting there's a software fix for it nowadays. Amazing performance !!!
i always wnated to know ho the backgound singers were- now I know

Amo a música desse grande maestro. Principalmente, essa aí. Um clássico do cinema! Inesquecível!
Great to have this. Too bad of the tape speed variance...but lucky to still have regardless.
M-o-o m-o m-o m-o-mo!
Masterful Mancini.
Simply beautiful.
Beware ....damaged recording/transfer .... STILL, beautiful
Henry Mancini! Brilliant
Never been bettered.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written, from one of the best movies ever made.
I was just seven years and one day old when this was recorded. Thanks for sharing!
would to have like to seen this in person at the BBC. but I was only a toddler
From souvenir. Nice song
❤Spectacularly Wonderful ❤

SLICE OF HEAVEN is the proper definition
La música más hermosa que hizo toda una época para soñar en el amor más profundo del corazón.
Thanks so much for posting this. I saw Mancini and his orchestra perform in St.Louis. It was wonderful. Something I'll aways remember.
Absolutely Beautiful...reminds me of my father...thank you for posting
Love ya Henry!❤❤❤
Maravilhoso.
Great music
Thank you for post this gem!
THIS SOUNDS OFF LIKE A CASSETTE PLAYER LOSING BATTERY POWER??!!
You can really hear the limitations of the recording equipment on this song. Lot's of wow/flutter.

Some pitch distortion here from the record, perhaps it could be cleaned up with some software?
Hope a better copy of this exists. Lots of ‘wow’ in this upload. Makes me a little seasick. Beautiful performance, though.
Oh dear the record is warped 😊

The lady mentioned earlier all the female singers was Anita k r e e a singer with Mancini also or am I wrong love hearing this
Anita Kerr, lead soprano.
😊🎶
Extreme right?? 😅
I was wondering were the background singers voices pre recorded?
No, very live.
I HOPE THIS GREAT CIOR IS THE SAME ONE MANCINI USES IN ALL HIS SCORES??!!

Há quem não goste. Não é o meu caso.
Dragging audio ruins this piece.

Too bayuayuayd it is such abayubayd recording
