to create the bottom of the bottle: after you let the most of the extra Isomalt drain out of the bottom of the bottle, you can set your Isomalt bottle on a silicone mat and let the residual Isomalt drain down to the bottom, and the silicone mat will prevent it from leaking and the Isomalt will cool and form a bottom for your bottle.
@Mac1634 When you pour the sugar into the mold you want to pour it at a lower temperature, around 270 degrees F, you let it sit in the mold for a couple of seconds then pour it back out. Sugar poured this way creates a thick wall around the inside of the mold, and still allows you to pour the melted sugar back out of the mold. People create hollow chocolates like easter bunnies using this technique as well.
DannyKinz2897, Thanks for your question. If I understand you question correctly, you want to know if you can pour Isomalt (the sugar to make the glass) into any of the other molds we sell? The answer is yes. Or molds and Silicones will hold temperatures of up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Many sugar artists and chefs have used Isomalt in our molds and have achieved stunning results.
@TheAstrophysicist23 sugar glass is not sticky if there is low humidity. To protect it from getting sticky in humid environments, the sugar glass can be put into a sealed container that has silica gel packets to dry the air in the container.
Great videos! I want to buy a couple molds from your website but how many sugar beer bottles can I make with only one mold before I need to buy a new mold? Like 1? 10? or more :)
Can the mold be used to make a resin copy of a bottle? I'm looking to copy a tall, slightly curved bottle for prop purposes (and don't want to buy a ton of vintage bottles).
When freshly made and in a dry environment, the sugar bottle is dry. Moisture, humidity and warmth cause the sugar to get sticky over time and then it would stick to your hands. Keeping the bottle in an air tight storage container with silica gel packets will keep the bottle dry indefinitely.
I'm also interested in making one with a bottle to use as stage props... is there a way to create the mold to have a bottle yet still easy enough to remove the sugar bottle after it is ready?
Having a sugar bottle without a bottom is advantageous for the cake decorator. It is easier to put down into a cake. If you want a bottom, do not pour out all the sugar and allow the mold to cool right side up. The excess sugar will flow to the bottom of the mold and create a perfect seal and bottom to the bottle. - Dominic
hobostudios100 You are welcome. Thank you for taking the time to replay your thanks. When you make your mold be sure to email me a photo! We love to see our customers' work.
Why hasn't anyone commented on those "Man Eats Glass" or "Man Eats Nails" videos about the possibility of them being hoaxes? I mean just look at this!! So realistic, edible too! Look at silver dragees, their silver-like coating looks pretty real!
1:22 YES YES YES! 1:24 Awww.... :( Also, I have a question. How do you make the bottle actually, you know... a bottle? If you just fill a mold with sugar, you just end up with a solid chunk of bottle-shaped sugar, right? So how do you make it hollow?
There is a way to have a bottom. Here it is: Beer Bottle Closed bottom open top After pouring Isomalt into your mold wait 10 minutes, then dump the access Isomalt out. When finished dumping Isomalt, turn your mold open side down onto a silicone mat and allow it to completely cool. This will allow the remaining warm Isomalt to flow down and create a bottom to your bottle. Once your bottle is completely cooled unmold. Then take a clean drill bit, warm it with a kitchen torch and work the bit into the top of the bottle to “open” your bottle and create a hole. Any other questions please don't hesitate to call 800-333-5678 in US or 513-244-2999. Thanks
Hi, I was going to make a corona bottle. Just wanting to know is there anyway I can make the clear bottle, And also make it look like it has corona in it? Thank-you.
The mold made in this video should be considered to be a commercial mold and can be used over and over indefinitely. How many bottles can u make from one mold? Hard to answer since you should be able to use it for a lifetime.
to get a bottom on your sugar bottle create the mold in the same manner as the video. After pouring Isomalt sugar into your mold wait 10 minutes, dump the excess Isomalt sugar out, then stand the mold upright (neck portion of the bottle up) on a silicone mat and the Isomalt will flow down to the bottom of the "bottle" and will create a bottom on your mold.
I'm on your website... do you have an actual video showing how to make that perfect beer bottle mold using the CopyFlex? Also, how many lbs would it take to make a mold such as that one? Thanks!
ok i couldnt help but notice the elder sweatshirt so i believe you are close to me. is there any way i could pay for a couple of these to be made? going to need it for a performance for halloween

Actually breaking a sugar bottle over ones skull promotes hair growth by subjecting the scalp to a minor explosive pressure brought on by the fragmentation of crystalline sugar molecules that aerate the scalp and encourage a return to normal hair follicle production. ;-) - Dominic
No, it is full. You need the weight of the liquid inside to keep it down. Otherwise the bottle would float during the curing processes and ruin your mold.
Here's an obvious question: why not just sell pre-made molds to the public of the most popular shapes i.e. wine glasses, beer bottles, champagne flutes, etc... I'm sure there would be a larger pool of customers if it were a simplified process. Step1. buy mold. Step2. Heat and pour isomalt sugar. I'd probably buy multiple molds regardless of the frequency in which I used the them. But after watching the mold making process I'm discouraged to even bother.
pre-made molds would be great and maybe they sell them too, or buy them elsewhere. Learning how to make your own molds though means you can take something different or strange and make a mold of it! Something you would not be able to BUY mold premade!
Zeth Huckabay this was helpful for me because i have been searching everywhere for how to make a hollow bottle out of clay, and im not quite there yet, but its pretty close to what i need.
Ry.Pawhead kickbac White I hope that this video and the other videos in this series have answered all your questions on how a sugar glass bottle is made.

Very true, we were going to cut that out but thought it showed just how strong the sugar bottle really is. Glad you enjoyed it.

What can I say I am a happy guy and I love working with Silicone
is the sugar glass sticky?
how do you build the bottom if you need one????...
Also, You don't have to use isomalt. You can use cooked sugar recipes that are used to make hard candy and lollipops too!

Can you put it up side down to have an actual bottom?
4:33 that was amazing haha
Is it possible to make 12 sugar bottles out from a single mold?
to get a bottom on your sugar bottle create the mold in the same manner as the video. Depends on your pain tolerance. Just follow the instructions in this video and give it a try.
