Some good advice here, particularly about turntable isolation and the value of reviews - or lack of. Expensive cables do sound better, but only as long as you can see them. Otherwise they're no different to cost hanger wires stwisted together.
I agree with your point about reviews, a certain magazine has a lot of advertising from Richer Sounds and Cambridge Audio. Why does the same magazine give Cambridge Audio some excellent reviews, an amazing coincidence?
I liked the video. A colorful explanation of concepts for audio and life. I mostly agree with all the points you made. Tastes change. There is no perfect system. I would add that the focus for most of us should be the loudspeaker/room. Get that part right and then buy appropriate front end gear.
I’ll have to come to the shop in the new year and have a listen to the new exposure integrates if that’s possible? If it’s ok, could I bring my speakers and amp to do a bit of a b? Thanks!
You are more than welcome! Give me a ring and we’ll sort something out. Hopefully we won’t be locked down!!!!! You can bring your own gear of course.. It’s the best way to really tell if something is worth the outlay…. See you soon! Tony
I do "Like" this video, but I will not be using the like button due to RUclips's feck up, as explained in the updated description in the first ever RUclips video from the co-founder "jawed" "Me at the zoo" Until RUclips sorts out this royal feck up all users should boycott the like button. (Hopefully this comment will help with the RUclips algorithms as much as a like would have)
Tony great video with some practical advice. Unfortunately I suspect that your sage advice will not be ignored by those who would most benefit from it.
That did cross my mind!! But I just had to get it out! If it changes things for one lost soul, drifting indecisively in a sea of reviews and advertising, then it is worth the late nights editing….
but the bass driver is connected to the cabinet , it doesnt matter if the cabinet moves , as the driver moves in relation to the cabinet , theres some interesting physics going on 🙂
So no need for all that rigidity in stands and speakers then…? Phew that’s gonna be easier! And you just saved Atacama a fortune…. ! Hopefully they’ll give both of us a cash bonus!! (fingers crossed eh)…
until you do a blind test and one of the cables is made with a crocodile clip and pair of scissors as part of the conductor and you cant tell which is best between that or the other 3 expensive cables 🙂
If only that was true. I took my whole hifi to a store and demod different bits of gear in place of mine till I heard an improvement. 3 different speakers, 2 amps a dac and the chord epic speaker cables. The cables made the most obvious improvement. I would have bought whichever change made the best improvement at the time. It shocked me to be honest. It wasn’t just a slight difference it was very noticeable. Having said that I’ve listened to different rcas and heard minuscule differences and better power leads and heard nothing. I’ve heard several speaker cables and every time heard differences. Forget blind tests for a minute. Try hooking the left speaker with junk cable and the right with good cable. That way you can sit and listen left to right and see what you hear.

You have legendary setup

‘A certain magazine’ I bet nobody can guess who that is (😉)…. No need to say here folks. We know what you’re all thinking!!!!
"you start to like olives, you know strong chesses" effing lmao!
Realized I'm finally happy with my system- Spendor S8 speakers, Audio Refinement Integrated, Linn Majik DS streamer- that's it! Sounds incredible!

@@phonostageaudio4819 maybe not. You didnt save atacama a fortune you saved yourself a fortune 🙂
Of course it matters if the cabinet moves. You will get less sound pressure and if the driver moves it can cancel itself out...
@@supvertigo it does , but have you look into cabinet movement and driver movement , its a bit mental .
The cable haters really wind me up. The difference in sound between cables is so effing obvious
I got some chord epic speaker cables this year, couldn’t believe what it did to my hifi. Best 240 quid I’ve spent on hifi gear

@@russellparker4568 was the cable test a blind test , you didnt mention if it was or not ?
@@patthewoodboy it was just a A/B back and forth several times listening for differences. Not a blind test.
