      You know what Rog - I have reflected!! This is not my best work.. I was not my usual dry/witty self... too serious! I think it was the extended break... SO I will do some more videos and find my swing! Anyways - in answer to your question, yes I did very much like the amp. Beat my MF and most amps I have heard for transparency and a lovely natural sound, so much so that my main squeeze is now an Angel 6!! (review to come)... Moor amps are definitely my favourites at this point in my life. I hear a lot of amps and the 6 is my fave with the 4 definitely having a lot of it's flavour for less money.

      @@phonostageaudio4819 hey! I thought the vid itself was good, I like the relaxed tone. I just couldn't tell at the end if you actually liked/loved the amp. Thanks for getting back! That's good to hear. I have heard the 6 is next level. Too pricey for me though unfortunately. I've been watching a British audiophiles review and he loves the amp (4) and only had one negative....that he would have like more bass thump. How did you find the bass on the 4, a little lacking? Appreciate the help :)

      @phonostageaudio4819 Месяц назад

      @@rog86 Hi Rog - the bass was good.. I think it depends on your setup, had it not been for the six I would still be listening to it now, it was better then the Exposure 3510 and various other amps I tried. The 6 is another level.. It is tonally similar but there is more bass and the transparency (without being hard-edged or toppy) is ridiculous.. like a deep, clear pool. The Angel 4 really impressed me and at first I didn't want a 6, I thought it would just me more of the same and too much for my room but I was wrong.

    Interesting - I’ve got a fair amount of stuff designed by Derek Hughes and my main set up are Stirling Broadcast V3 LS3/5as and their AB-2 bass extenders, both Derek designs, and the LS6fs look intriguing based on reviews I’ve read. I’ve seen a few people that have had to switch away from the LS6fs to the combo I have because they had problems with the bass of the LS6f - the side mounted, traditional port of the AB-2 has meant that room interaction has been a lot more manageable.

    Thank you Tony. This is a very comprehensive review. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to hifi. Please can you do a video about the difference between a pre amp and a power amp and why sometimes people only need one amp. It's slightly confusing for me. I particularly like the bit in the video when you say you go from critical listening to emotional engagement. I was a therapist in another life and it always worked best on an emotional engagement level not just listening and analysing separate elements. I think the flaming lips LP definitely does that for me but I'm curious. What is the name of the Starsailor LP you refer to please?

      . A simple conventional power Amp only does one thing. It receives an appropriate signal from the input terminals (usually mounted on the back). amplifies it, and then sends it to the speaker terminals (usually mounted on the back) where cables can be attached out to the speakers. A simple conventional preamp does two things. First, It has an array of input terminals to receive appropriate signals from any of various sources where the preamp has a selector to choose 1 from them. Second, a preamp has a volume control where signal can be attenuated before being sent to the output terminals & off to the power amp. From this point, the conversation becomes endless. You make a good point about home setups and how they can mess with the reproduction of the original work. There's a lot of hastily designed gear out there that adds crosstalk, phase-shift, crossover distortion and a bunch of other unwanted artifacts that simply smear the sound. Nice to know it doesn't have to be like that!

    Some good advice here, particularly about turntable isolation and the value of reviews - or lack of. Expensive cables do sound better, but only as long as you can see them. Otherwise they're no different to cost hanger wires stwisted together.

    To be honest this isn’t a very confidence inspiring review for a pair of speakers costing nearly $10,000/USD. I would expect them to effortlessly handle any genre of music you throw at them. I listen to a lot of “audiophile music” like Jazz instrumental, Jazz vocal, acoustic guitar, classical…but I also listen to a lot of fusion instrumental such as jazz/rock fusion, jazz/funk fusion, 80’s hair metal, 70’s classic rock, 70’s & 80’s soft rock & pop, 90’s hip hop & r&b, 80’s & 90’s country & modern death metal so honestly just a little bit of everything!

    Interesting review, I’m currently using Spendor SP2/3R older classic series, I like them very much but thinking of retiring them to the 2nd room, the main lounge area I’d like something more engaging. I’m a classical trained violinist but I play jazz and listen to a lot of other genres like rock, folk and electronic music. Maybe being a violinist develops the fascination about bass, as that’s something I don’t have to deal as a performer but I love it in the mixture of my listening sessions. I would describe my Spendor as very coherent, but heard Graham is more similar to Harbeth? It is very clean easier for the ears to pick up details and my experience in recording studio had taught me to listen critically and I’m more and more into analytical sounding equipment, hopefully going Graham steers me to the right direction, I thought about ATC or PMC(heard them in hi fi show but they don’t sound as natural when it comes to acoustic instruments), I heard ATC is difficult with amplifiers they need a lot of power to sound good. So would you say ls5/9f is more of an all rounder than ls6f? I kind of imagine ls5/9f does instrument separation better, probably less punchy than ls6f but more bass detail? After years of Spendor I do feel like a change of flavour moving to something that does dynamics better like B&W or Fyne. My amp is naim Supernait 3, Topping D90SE DAC, Esoteric SA50 CD player and Bluesound Node streamer.

I’m thinking particularly of some form of tone/loudness control for late night low volume listening when I might want to tweak the top and bottom to allow for the fletcher Munson effect.
