I bumped into this wonderful man in benidorm back in 1981 I was in a bar he heard my Welsh voice ordering a pint AT THE BAR and told me to put my money away and bought me and my family all a drink AWSOME GUY AND PROUD TO BE WELSH !!

I was at this concert & with retakes for the DVD David was on stage for almost 4 hours. Very sad he died in 1995 taken way too early from this life. Such a gifted voice.
David Alexander was an amazing singer with some strong lyrics, probably meant a lot to a lot of people, he may be similar to Tom Jones but they should not be compared they are both amazing in there own right.
"IF I NEVER SING ANOTHER SONG" was released on March 1st. and celebrated at a sell out concert at the Liverpool Empire. It also marked 25 years in show business. The Concert was a huge success. The Llandudno Male Voice Choir and Gateacre School Choir contributed to a memorable night for 2,000 of David's fans. Also appearing was his wife Beryl - better known as Penny Page and Googi the Liverpool Duck and amongst his backing singers were his daughters Alexandra and Bronwen. A very happy family.
Brilliant singer made a point of going to see were he was from , this lovely old dear pointed his house out to me made me a cup of tea and told me some stories of when they were younger playing in the streets. Couldn't leave the lady with out going back and giving her some flowers for her birthday. Cant believe there is nothing in blackwood in memory of a fantastic singer. Or may be there is but I couldn't find it.

Being from Tylorstown as mentioned in this song is special enough for me, but back in 1986 I went into my local Woolworths in Tonypandy and DA was in there at that time singing to backing tracks for a record he was promoting. I remember picking up a cassette from the top of the rack, clipping the one in front and like dominoes a load came tumbling down and fell on the floor. DA came over and helped me pick them back up. He came across as a humble and down to earth man. Such a powerful voice (not nearly enough recognition for it in my opinion) and passing away far too young in 1995. R.I.P. David Alexander. His song "The price of coal" brings a tear to my eye each time I listen to it, what a powerful voice for a powerful song.

I am from Pontypridd but have lived in Australia for 18 years. I have searched for this song for years. Once I found out who sang it - I find it here. I may be in Oz but my part of me will always be in Wales! Brilliant song briiliant voice.
We buried my grandfather today. He was a proud coalminer for 43 years. This song was played before the funeral, and it was one of his favourites. It's also one of mine, as he used to sing it to me when I was a boy. God knows I'll sing it to my kids one day, and theirs too.

This is a beautiful song and my father (an ex-miner) used to play it when he was in the house. It was the song he had played at his funeral.
