This is not a competition between David and Tom it's a celebration of 2 Welsh tenors showing the world anything is possible if you just have faith and never give up your dream.
I am in America and have just discovered David and his haunting beautiful voice, then finding out he had passed on. At least the Angels will have the pleasure of his beautiful voice. Thank you David for gifting us with your beautiful voice.
My father was also a singer and a great admirer and friend to David. I never understood my fathers devotion to davids music until i heard this song once again a few years ago when my father also died I live in canada now I miss my home very much and cry everytime I hear this song
I bumped into this wonderful man in benidorm back in 1981 I was in a bar he heard my Welsh voice ordering a pint AT THE BAR and told me to put my money away and bought me and my family all a drink AWSOME GUY AND PROUD TO BE WELSH !!
For goodness sake, why do people come here and have a go at Tom? Both him and David are/were great singers, neither David nor Tom would want them being compared to each other, both great in their own right, ffs appreciate what our great little country has produced and be proud of what both of them did and achieved, only the Welsh!!!
I listen to the beautifull voice of david every time i feel low and the sound of his voice lifts me up and help me to carry David let the angle up above hear your wonderful voice
I was at this concert & with retakes for the DVD David was on stage for almost 4 hours. Very sad he died in 1995 taken way too early from this life. Such a gifted voice.
Hi David, give my love to auntie June in heaven ❤ my auntie June left all your CD in her flat so when my mother cleared the flat she brought the CD home, my mum has been playing them ever since. That was 2years ago. Thank you David and auntie june 🎉 2:57
We buried my grandfather today. He was a proud coalminer for 43 years. This song was played before the funeral, and it was one of his favourites. It's also one of mine, as he used to sing it to me when I was a boy. God knows I'll sing it to my kids one day, and theirs too.
The mist on the mountains The rivers running free The big men walking home from the mine The coal dust clinging to them As they slowly walk the hill If I could see the Rhondda once again Yes If I could see the Rhondda once again And walk where I used to run As a child and the dust from the coal Made a mark upon my soul How I love to see the Rhondda once again Five Hundred voice's singing In the Chapel on the hill The day that my old grandpa Passed away but I did'nt cry On the day that he died For I know where my old grandpa Went that day he's walking back To Tylorstown in the Rhondda Of his dreams And he's standing on the hill Above the mine and the choir Filled the air as he's proudly standing there If I could see the Rhondda one more time Yes If I could see the Rhondda once again And walk where I used to run As a child and the dust from the coal

Played this at my sister Jessies funeral last month she loved him and we had taken her to the Rhondda two months previous it breaks my heart to listen to it now
Brilliant singer made a point of going to see were he was from , this lovely old dear pointed his house out to me made me a cup of tea and told me some stories of when they were younger playing in the streets. Couldn't leave the lady with out going back and giving her some flowers for her birthday. Cant believe there is nothing in blackwood in memory of a fantastic singer. Or may be there is but I couldn't find it.
I find this song deeply moving. I grew up in the South Wales valleys and have no association with the Rhondda, but the strong sense of community and Welsh traditions stay with you forever.
My late husband loved David he would have really liked for him and Tom Jones to sing together as they were both from the same town sadly that was never going to happen great singer my husband heard his singing while out shopping he was hooked as was I after that RIP David you are missed💔💔💔
"IF I NEVER SING ANOTHER SONG" was released on March 1st. and celebrated at a sell out concert at the Liverpool Empire. It also marked 25 years in show business. The Concert was a huge success. The Llandudno Male Voice Choir and Gateacre School Choir contributed to a memorable night for 2,000 of David's fans. Also appearing was his wife Beryl - better known as Penny Page and Googi the Liverpool Duck and amongst his backing singers were his daughters Alexandra and Bronwen. A very happy family.
True just discovered him amazing, and the rhondda has so many stories to tell shld never be forgotten. Not from Wales but met a few from the rhondda amazing singers n people.
a SONG THAT REMINDS ME SO MUCH OF MY MOTHER WHO PASSED AWAY ALMOST 13 YEARS AGO., HER MOTHER WAS FROM SOUTH WALES BUT WE ARE FROM THE NORTH. SHE LOVED THIS RECORD, AND I GREW UP WITH IT. SAW DAVID SHORTLY BEFORE HE DIED, PLAYING OUTSIDE WOOLIES IN HOLYHEAD. SUCH A GREAT VOICE, A MAN WHO COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR STAR, BUT FATE DECIDED OTHERWISE, SILLY FATE!!!
David Alexander was an amazing singer with some strong lyrics, probably meant a lot to a lot of people, he may be similar to Tom Jones but they should not be compared they are both amazing in there own right.
I have always heard of David Alexander, but never heard a lot of I'm, I realized what I've being missing all this time, he is a fantastic singer, and puts so much feeling into it, I will look out for more of is tracks, R.I.P, David.
Glad I found about David through a family member that is from Wales. Seems that everything I read speaks about the fact that David and Tom Jones were in the beginnings of their careers at the same time but, Tom Jones over shadowed him and became internationally the successful of the two. David sang so awesome and I wish the success could've been shared.
I am from Pontypridd but have lived in Australia for 18 years. I have searched for this song for years. Once I found out who sang it - I find it here. I may be in Oz but my part of me will always be in Wales! Brilliant song briiliant voice.
My husband is a welch man, we live in cork Ireland, when visiting my inlaws years ago, heard david Alexander singing, collected all cds since,, so sad he left this world. What a voice. RIP David
originally from the village of tylorstown, I now live in Cardiff but this song bring back so many memories for me of my home town . I know all the places in the song which now don't exist anymore but how the village as changed over the years .
As a young 17 year old drinking in the Castle Pub, in Llnagennech, Llanelli in 1976 I will always remember this record being repeatedly played on the duke box. Happy days
My father was a member of the choir that sang the backing to David Alexanders original recording of this song. The choir are called The Siluarian Male Voice Choir and they are based in Rhymney,South Wales. Also listen to him sing - The answer to everthing -brilliant!
Being from Tylorstown as mentioned in this song is special enough for me, but back in 1986 I went into my local Woolworths in Tonypandy and DA was in there at that time singing to backing tracks for a record he was promoting. I remember picking up a cassette from the top of the rack, clipping the one in front and like dominoes a load came tumbling down and fell on the floor. DA came over and helped me pick them back up. He came across as a humble and down to earth man. Such a powerful voice (not nearly enough recognition for it in my opinion) and passing away far too young in 1995. R.I.P. David Alexander. His song "The price of coal" brings a tear to my eye each time I listen to it, what a powerful voice for a powerful song.
I USED TO SEE DAVID SING IN TENERIFE FAB GUY I HAVE MISSED HIS SUPERB VOICE I HAD THE PLEASURE OF SINGING WITH HIM ONE TIME I USED TO SING IN SOME OF THE HOTELS THERE MY SELF TO ME HE WAS ONE OF THE BEST WHO CAME FROM WALES. HE IS MISSED BY MILLIONS. GOD BLESS YOU DAVID RIP.

The mist on the mountains
The rivers running free
The big men walking home from the mine
The coal dust clinging to them
As they slowly walk the hill
If I could see the Rhondda once again
Yes If I could see the Rhondda
once again
And walk where I used to run
As a child and the dust from the coal
Made a mark upon my soul
How I love to see the Rhondda once again
Five Hundred voice's singing
In the Chapel on the hill
The day that my old grandpa
Passed away but I did'nt cry
On the day that he died
For I know where my old grandpa
Went that day he's walking back
To Tylorstown in the Rhondda
Of his dreams
And he's standing on the hill
Above the mine and the choir
Filled the air as he's proudly
standing there
If I could see the Rhondda one more time
Yes If I could see the Rhondda
once again
And walk where I used to run
As a child and the dust from the coal
