2020 has not been my year. I don't it's been anyone's year actually. For me, my entire slate of films were taken out back and shot. For five looooong months, I was unable to make anything. It sucked. But I could only take being forced not to do what I love for so long. So began planning. And I want to make this extremely clear- MASKS ARE IMPERATIVE TO OUR SAFETY! SO IS SOCIAL DISTANCING; and I took all of that into consideration when I began prepping for this project. I made sure I kept my mask on the entire 5 hour shoot, and only took it off to hydrate in private. I also made sure all my actors took equal and safe precautions before we all gathered to film. And thankfully, since I am a one man crew, I was able to limit the amount of people on set to just myself and my 4 actors.
The idea for this story, if you couldn't already tell, came out of my extreme dissatisfaction with how our police force have been poorly handling countless situations, and more often than not- straight up abusing their power. It is as disgusting as it is terrifying. Thankfully, we're talking about it now, more than ever, but I don't feel it has been portrayed or addressed enough in film. So I decided to put my thoughts out there and make something I think we can all understand.
If you're not familiar with the Eradicator, I highly recommend you Google him. He's a hell of a character. But to save you some time, imagine if the Terminator possessed the body of Superman and had the moral compass of Judge Dredd.... That's the Eradicator in a nutshell. I've always viewed him as a prime candidate for a horror movie, and that was exactly what I wanted to do with this project. I wanted to make a Superman horror movie that expressed my views and frustrations with our police force. And I think I've done that.
One of the initial challenges with this short was creating the Superman memorial statue for the opening scene. I felt it was really important to have that in the movie, especially to justify the confrontation between the Eradicator and the mother. Thankfully, I have a little bit of skills when it comes to sculpting, so I was able to make the Superman statue myself. It stands about 14 inches tall. I then filmed it on a green screen and inserted it into a background shot I took while filming on location in Los Angeles. The end result looks pretty convincing. My only complaint is the quality of the statue's sculpt. The clay I was working with was not as good as I had hoped it would be, and thus I was not able to create as smooth a sculpt as I had hoped for.
It's also a cruel irony that the Eradicator's morals and the morals of the crooked cops are not that different. Had the crooked cops had powers of their own, they would have become the Eradicator's super-team.

These independent films are like the one shot shorts inside issues DC would do to spotlight new artists/writers. With better production this could have potential.

That was an amazing film! Especially in our world with all the corruption within the police force. This truly hit home. Great job using your film to express how much of a fan you are of The Eradicator and how you're not a fan of police violence. You are truly a great writer and filmmaker!

@@roylogan8137 you're right, Roy. However, there are still those few bad apples in the police force that make the whole bunch stink. Those bad apples need to be rooted out. The only way to do that is to hold all accountable.

The actor who plays Eradicator looks and sounds a bit like the "End of an Era" Superman. It would be cool if the Eradicator films are in the same continuity as End of an Era.

See this is the superman that turned batman against him in injustice.i know the history of the eradicator but the bottom line is that this much power in the hands of a no nonsense personality is world shakingly dangerous.

Excellent plot, made me quite uncomfortable at points, but that was the point, loved the visual effects as well. I did do a quick google search of Eradicator, seems like a great concept. I'd love to see a feature film of that guy, R-rated. Something like what you've done. Nice to see you filming again :)

Well it put the brakes on a lot of my projects, but I figured out how to film safely.

I loved this fan film its off the charts and a true masterpiece and your best work yet. I'm so glad this women who lost her son who was innocent and did nothing wrong to bad cops corrupted cops that laughed about what happened to this innocent person not caring what they did where that got stopped real quick by the eradicator and superman that weren't arrested for the crime and put in prison for an unarmed kid that did nothing wrong was answered.
I love how The Eradicator showed up wanting to help just as upset about what happened to this women's son as well as she was so he took matters in his own hands and delt with the cop that did that was laughing about what he did where he took Justice in his own hands himself and stopped the cop that did it.
The Eradicator told the bad cops friends to pass the word around to other criminals out that they won't be getting away with there crimes and not paying for what they did for the Eradicator would show up and take out more criminals upset about justice not being sereved and would do it too.
The Beware The Wrath of Superman when hes angry about justice not being served was incredible as well when he took justice into his own hands was wonderful as well and perfect as well. I'm liking how this women's who was grieving over her son prayers were answered for the powers up above. A face shield to for his heat vision was wonderful as well. He started out as a statue and became real and was there comforting that women over her son and was ready to help her with an injustice that was commited against her son.
I loved this fan film from start to finish for I love that superman the eradicator was upset about what happen too and showed up and stop the bad cop taking matters into his own hands as well. Hoperfully we get more wonderful moments of the Eradicator showing up answering more prayers of injustice being served as well fo that would rock. Great job as always with this fan film for it was awesome.

this was such a brilliant concept. Not just for the timeliness but for the parallels of eradicators world view to the corrupted view of these cops. Loved the scene w/ the grieving mother at the superman statue.

Nothing keeps a good artist down. Btw what made you go with Eradicator and not The Punisher? Not that I'm complaining.
Couple things. 1. I already had the Eradicator costume. 2. I love the idea of a Superman horror film. 3. People don't expect a homicidal Superman, even if it's the Eradiactor. Everyone knows who the Punisher is, so when he shows up, you know someone's gonna die. With Superman or Eradicator Superman, anything can happen if you don't fully know the source material.
At this rate you might get called up to work on the "Brightburn" sequel.
Would be nice, though I would only do it if I could get the Crimson Bolt in it.

Okay, I take it back. In retrospect, the Eradicator is NOT as bad as the crooked cops. The Eradicator at least genuinely cares about innocent people and uses proportionate retribution. But the Eradicator is only a slightly better option than the crooked cops.

yep. and during his time as Superman, he was definitely a morally gray area. its open to interpretation.
The Eradicator becomes a real problem later, not just trying to uphold justice, and the legacy of Superman, but rebuild Krypton, even if it means the genocide of humanity.
