I agree, the character customization has been a welcome thing! I know both you and I have talked about it on our vids in the past! I was glad to hear that it is finally a thing. It's those little quality of life things that really push the envelope on the sim!
For those of us who first flew in flight simulator 5.1 and it's competitors it is INCREDIBLE. I feel like my grandad (born in 1878) must have when he saw his first aeroplane in about 1910!
i always watch your videos and this is the best honest review of the early access event, so happy you where invited to the event, look forward to your future content
you're one very very lucky Aviation Geek ! I was preally pleased to see you got a ticket to fly at the xbox event as I do like your first look reviews and this was no different ! I am really looking forward to the new sim, the current one is incredible as it is, and I can see the huge improvements that this one has already shown off. As you say, "early" means "glitches and bugs" and other things that change before release, and while I'd like to think all of those will get sorted for release, I am sure we'll see a plethora of updates to make some of the obvious things go away quickly post release - that's development of a complex product like this!
I'm REALLY hoping the helicopter physics are at least as good as the helicopter physics in DCS, which seems to have done it right. Hoping this iteration of MSFS will get it right as well.
I really hope these career modes do not lock away exclusive content or access to other features. I don't have time for that form of play, I just want to jump in the cockpit and fly (usually making a mess of learning what to do), but this works well for me as I get maximum enjoyment within my limited time. I really hate it when I can't access content because I haven't unlocked it and likely will never have time.
@@Fabs6379 What I would like, is to be able to play any mission I like, irrespective of whether I have qualified for it within the career mode game mechanics. @@Fabs6379 The trouble is, I absolutely love the look and concept of the missions. What utterly kills the missions for me is the requirements to reach them. This is an old school form of game engineering that I don't care much for these days as I don't have time to burn on running / building a career. I would rather just look up a mission and play it, and if I need to learn new skills, just focus on learning what I need, not learning what I don't need. I have just over 200 aircraft in MSFS2020. So I give a lot of support to the MSFS world, but I don't have a lot of time to mess around in them. If even more barriers are erected to make enjoyment of aircraft harder for me, I am less likely to make any future investment, as I would never get around to doing what I want, when I want.
@@PaulTinsley I See your point, but I would rely in the Community to find a way around this, like a "cheat" to give you all licenses from the start so you can play any kind of missions. Very cool. This is everything I was hoping Flight sim 2020 was gonna be. I need missions! I want to rescue, put out fires, have challenging deliveries and unpredictable moments.
Can you imagine if Microsoft had shot down the idea of restarting the flight sim. We would've never known just how awesome it could get. This sim is flat ass unbelievable compared to what was available before 2020.
Wow! I can start up an even more realistic version of my old air cargo business from fs9 and FSX! I still have my old routs and flight plans, too! On top of that I can create my own pilots! This is going to be great! Thanks for this great video Av!
I was on the fence about 2024, until i saw your review specifically. Amazing degree of analysis and breakdown of features!! Thank you very much for an amazing review! Preordered now.
Thanks for sharing this Angel! I am in good company as one who has been getting anxious for any information on 2024 and for this I am very grateful. As for performance “Smooth” comes to mind. The new physics from what you shared looks incredible. Thanks again for this preview. ❤️👍
What a thoughtful first impression review! I have (of course) already pre-ordered, and I can't wait to fly low and slow, taking photos at interesting places. We are indeed lucky to have lived through this evolution in sim flight.
I like the character customization too - it'll be nice to dispense with that daft baseball hat. Some very welcome aircraft , such as the C-17, A400M and Albatross. Really looking forward to it all.
Their passion for the sim is indeed amazing. Asobo found a good publisher/developer in MS, the access to the huge amounts of $$ needed to produce this is a big help for their (and our) dream.
Amazing! I was already excited for the new sim but now I can’t wait. The kinds of flying I enjoy are the same as yours, although you’re much better at it than I am. Even photo mode is exciting to me 😊. Thanks for such a great preview!
The Ag sprayers are what Im most excited for I think... Working with rotor wing aircraft, I hope theyll put in oh-58s and 206s. My company just got an A-star. Hell, I hope they put in MD500s so I can recreate my powerline inspections haha
As for the majority of the earth, there still is a pretty huge difference between carefully crafted areas and 99,99% of the rest of the planet, so we shouldn't expect that every part of the world will look amazing, but it's still an improvement over 2020, especially new vegetation. I just hope they add new building autogen textures as well, instead of an entire country like Greece having 2 or 3 residential building textures appearing on every single house, adding more autogen textures is easier than spending months with photogrammetry cities and it can cover a much larger part of the world.
Ah, yes and no. Mission areas are autogen in many cases, so theres a larger better detail level over all of the planet. Is it always SUPER high? no, but its far higher than 2020.
I can’t wait to try to land on Soldier Bar-should be even crazier than in FS2020! My ears perked up on hearing Got Friends were one of the developers involved-I’ve got some of their aircraft, and I love them. Some really good bush planes there. Hopefully they’re doing some of the bundled aircraft for 2024! I wonder if there’s going to be a Wilga.
Thanks for this! Both excited, but also slightly nervous. I know it was a test build, but that's a lot of bugs so close to release. Visually stunning though. I real improvement over 2020. Can't wait to try out the new flight models. Also was not expecting ground deformation! Wow!
Thank you. Been waiting for more 2024 info, glad I saw yours first! What I'm hoping for is cargo that are actual objects that can be physically loaded into planes and picked up or dropped off anywhere. The items should be persistent in the world, which would be great in multiplayer. That would make possible something like community geo-caching. How great would that be for bush flying?
This has been a very good video and insight into what's coming. I've often been interested and dare I say, a little amused on the two distinct descriptions of what we flyers use between 'game' and 'sim'. Looking at 2024 my feeling is that we are rapidly entering the 'game' scenario. Not that there's anything untoward in using the game word but I wish presenters would make up their mind when describing the 'thing'. I couldn't help noticing these obscene taxi assist arrows. I know we can turn them off but wonder whether there will be an option to modify there look. Keep the vids coming.
Those arrows and markers have been in the game as assistance options for 30 years. Nothing new there! We’ve been a game forever, it’s how you use it. You don’t have to do career or challenges, just sim the same way you always have.
