- Two 14-year-old students and two teachers were killed in the Georgia school shooting.
A 14-year-old student opened fire at a Georgia high school and killed four people on Wednesday, authorities said, sending students scrambling for shelter in their classrooms - and eventually to the football stadium - as officers swarmed the campus and parents raced to find out if their children were safe.
The dead were identified as two students and two teachers at Apalachee High School in Winder, about an hour’s drive from Atlanta. At least nine other people - eight students and one teacher - were taken to hospitals with injuries.

FBI determined Gray made threats almost a year prior. Interviewed the kid and parents but Gray denied it was him (per partial FBI report shown on another network). Parents should have taken the interview seriously and locked up the AR and all the guns, hid the keys.

As a student I am begging parents of students in the area to consider keeping their kids home for a few days. And for all parents to sit down with their children and talk about their mental health. To talk about how they're feeling and to even check their devices. I always found it annoying as teen but it's important to make sure to identify any signs of mental health issues in your children and to give them the help and care they need.

I went to Apalachee High School. Some of my greatest accomplishments and best memories were at this school, and now it’s someone else’s nightmare. This is heartbreaking. Such a senseless act of violence leaving the biggest impact on so many lives. My nephew is at the middle school right next to the high school and they were on a level 3 lockdown having to lay on the ground and take cover. Even though he wasn’t in the school, him and all the other students are greatly affected by this. I have my best friends son whose class was next door to the class that got shot up. He’s still in shock. I have another friend whose daughter was in the classroom that got shot and she was crying on the phone to her mom saying she was watching someone bleed out and dying. These are things our children should NEVER have to go through. School is for learning, reading, and writing, not learning how to take cover from fellow students running around with guns. Praying for my community right now as we are all still in shock and devastated. I hate that there are people at home without their kids or husbands and wives all bc a 14 yr old wanted to play video game in real life💔#ApalacheeStrong

Rest assured that the public won't know anything about anything for years. About 8 years from now there will be a TV show with some details. That's why this stuff keeps happening, the truth must be filtered until the powers that be decide it is safe to reveal the truth. The public should immediately be made aware who knew what and when, that means parents, teachers, school administration and other students. Imagine in the future if anyone who did not do the right thing and were held accountable, people might think twice about brushing things off.
How did he get the Ar 15? The gun is the factor . There were trouble kids when I was in HS 40 years ago. Never had anyone in the 1980’s shooting another student .

QUESTION is how did the boy get the firearm in.
It would seem pretty easy. He probably had it in some type of bag. They don’t get searched or have any type of way to tell if you have anything in your bag at any of my kids school. That includes 4 different schools.

Sandy Hook kid killed his mom first, THEN gained access to the guns. Also a dude in Nice, France ran over and killed 87, tops all U.S. mass shootings, with a rented truck. Charlie hebdo France, full auto AK47 shooting France, 2 Recent Germany shootings, Norway killing of kids. There are mass shootings in other countries, we just never hear about them. Also the U.K. could fit into Texas 2.5 times. 10 European countries could fit into Texas. Talking about a shooting in CA, and FL in reality would be talking about a shooting in the U.K. and one in Russia. We are a big country, with guns.

I can’t imagine how things have changed. My class graduated in 2014, small town but this sh*t kicked off right after I graduated it seems. It’s every other week at this point, super scary, super sad, and things need to change. Can’t wrap my head around going to school worrying about this in a serious matter. We used to joke about stuff like this, kids got picked on, including me at times. There’s definitely a line, but you don’t just go shoot the place up idc what’s being said to you. It’s a hard situation, and hopefully collectively we’ll be able to slowly resolve it. /endrant

The woman that asked about the boy coming and going to the restroom was told her daughter was lying to her. As the sheriff was told not to answer the question, why a faculty member was looking for the boy , and not a resource officer. Something sounds like it is being hidden.
When I was a child, I would get so mad sometimes that I thought about doing this horrific act. What stopped me was I knew my father would stomp the hell out of me. I wasn't scared of the police, however I was terrified of my father kicking the crap out of me. I had a great father 👍

As a School Safety Security Officer I can tell you that TEACHERS are always dropping the ball by leaving their classroom doors UN SECURED. ! I have been having this issue every damn day and yet it is ME who gets called on th carpet for "offending" the teachers who take issue with the to e of voice and the manner in which I tell them to "CLOSE THE DAMN DOORS"..

This is what I call passing the buck for the law enforcement agencies and our school has failed us and pull your kids out of school if you have any love for your children and homeschool them
I have one kid in upper level high school and one who just started kinder this year, our district has already had two “threats” this year, we’ve been in session for only 3 weeks.
One was for a high school and one on an elementary level, both which were investigated and resolved by the law enforcement department…and students ended up receiving the consequences from the“student code of conduct” contract.
There are many parents… many… many parents who do not sit and discuss the topics in a student code handbook, many which cover behavior expectations, weapons and safety…things beyond the popular “dress code” sections and reactions from parents upset their kid can not wear pajamas to school and literal lingerie to school, and consequences and reality, and it is sad.
Kids are not expected to be kids anymore.
Parents can not seem to solve the problems our children face, and there are many neglectful parents. And parents that do not know how to get the help nor have a “village” to help. Many would rather give their child a screen for entertainment. Everyone is too disconnected.. until something like this happens.
I don’t want to pass blame to parents, or tech and gaming companies yet I do….but teachers and schools can only do so much.
This is the saddest thing to happen for children, I worry about name calling… I worry about if a lunchbox was forgotten…but this…tragic and preventable. It has to be preventable. Bad seeds exist, psychos or whatever name you want to put on this kid…
but if some kids are willing to also say “oh he hardly talked” or “oh he hardly interacted, except mostly one word answers”…one interview said “oh “he was the type”….well why then are not the community, teachers, students, and the like not finding a plan of action to help this 14 year old kid? Why is money not spent on mentors, not just guidance counselors, someone to seek out this kid who apparently everyone knew had problems? How did he have access to a weapon? I’m sure we will find out in time. I saw an article that he had been on a watch list for a year…how does a 13 now 14 year old get that way? And how does someone not do something sooner.
I am sure there are many mothers who would gladly get educated, trained and stand guard, and inspect every bag going through a door of any school.
I’d rather my tax dollars go to metal detectors over football programs, my tax dollars going to certified individuals to be able to stand guard, especially the mothers I know that would not hesitate to protect the children of the community.
I would never get on a plane without security checking bags, that is normal procedure so everyone on the plane is safe….why is this not happening for our children everyday when we send them to school….
They are at school longer than it takes to fly between most states every day…
