So this was a fantastic video, really enjoyed the playing samples as well as the captioning. I’m a beginner and one of the things I found I needed immediately working mostly with clean tones was a compressor after hearing one. Tried the Xotic SP and found that it did something to the mids that colored it too much for my liking. Tried the mini Ego and was blown away, sounded just as I wanted it to sound. Didn’t have the boost that the SP had but that’s not what was important here. Liked the mini so much I bought the full size. Thanks for the video.
How does the full-size ego perform compared to the mini one ? Is it day and night or you think it's not worth spending some extra bucks on it ? Thank you.
Hi Nice demo, by the way. Quick question: I'm a jazz guitarist and I am interested as to how you would set the attack to bring out fast legato or tapping passages? I basically use the neck humbucker at all times.
Jams with distortion and goes “now wo the compressor” at 6:09 and just holds a note. Haha great comparison to jamming with and without the compressor in gain setting ...,,,
Freddy - Ephreim Harris Ebens there's no difference in sound at all, just a different layout and graphics, but v1 also has top mount jacks. Maybe you'd prefer the mini Ego, as it's got side mount jacks. There's less controls though, as the attack and tone are changed to mini switches with two selectable positions. Hope that helps man. The Wampler website is a good place to go for information or help, their customer service is great. They've also got a really good Facebook group called "Wampler pedals tone group", which is great for tone chasers like us!
You need to learn about compressors. The Sustain knob controls how long compression sustains for; it does not "add some compression". The Attack controls how quickly compression kicks in. For this model 'Blend' controls how much compression is mixed with the dry sound. So your initial settings in the demo had full compression (Blend all the way up), with medium attack rate, and no sustained length.
The best demo ever! Thank you!
Great demo!

Great demo. Currently in a toss up with this, the Empress, and the Diamond Bass.....for bass, rhodes,
Maybe guitar.....& whatever else

What about vocals ? Can I use this with battery?
What's the difference between this and V2 other than nob positions
Nice voice Man.
Can I use with a bass right?
Is it legit that quiet with all that gain? My mad professor compressor squeals to high heaven with that much gain
I'm getting one! Compressor before or after the overdrive?
Usually before but there's no right and wrong, Brian Wampler did a nice video about it.
wud be way better with a b comoarison instead of keeping it in

Ain't this the v2?
no, V2 has the eye artwork and slightly different paint. I know 'cause I've just got one.

this or the Hypergravity?
Jay&Dee I've had a Hypergravity for over a year now but never really got on with it that much, even with the TonePrint app
Wtf does the Blend do? Is it always stuck at that position? Hah
Blends your clean signal with the compression so your whole signal isn't squashed.
I sort of wish there was a blend on every pedal.

The sustain knob is the compression knob.
