  • The Mini Ego Comp from Wampler is just brilliant. There are many options in this tiny pedal that allow you to get just the kind of compression you are looking for...

    Love that your new videos are in 4K. I dont have a 4K screen but higher res videos always look better even when downscaled because there is more data to work with an compression isnt as obvious! On the pedal note thinking of grabbing this or the full size version!

    Love the way you produce your videos. In this instance, its an interesting review. Personally, I use the Keeley Compressor Pro but this one is quite a nice small package ("that's what she said") relative for its size. Brian Wampler is truly an artist.

    Excellent explanation on what a compressor does. Now I understand why I like compressor so much. Great review and 'crapolla' is right on point. Great review and I love to hear your comparisons on other brands. Too bad you and Brian are on different continents.

    I have a full sized Ego compressor and love it. To be honest compressors are my favourite type of pedals, I have about 10.

    The Celine Dion part shows that a compressor is like an overdrive ... without distorting the signal ... so that means it fattens the signal and makes it more fun and easier to play and gives you ... well ... compression. Great Video HP, as always

    Sounds good, but it's not really cheap for a compressor.
    What's about a review of the Blackstar HT-1 valve amp ?

    Hey, it's an old video but got a question as i love your videos, I am looking for my first compressor and I want to play overdrive blues as well as some metal leads. Would you recommande this ego mini or something else? Thanks for your amazing content.

    With a high gain pedal mainly and some occasional no-pedal clean stuff, I find a mild compressor before the gain pedal is best. I use it as my input buffer and leave it always on, up on the top of my board. Generally I like it set so there is just a little more sustain/compression than my gain pedal already has...and I like a gain pedal that is not too heavily compressed so that this works better. When you bypass the distortion you can have the clean loud enough but to match well, but still tame the insane difference in dynamics from the gain sound...without tap dancing on buttons.

    Something is missing from my guitar sound and it seems to be a compressor, which I didn't think about ever. Before driving to Frankfurt to try out a bunch I thought 'Surely Henning has done some videos about compressors' - and he has, obviously.
    The Ego is not the most affordable, so I thought 'well, maybe not that', but then I saw Captain Janeway on the wide shot in this video, so I will watch this until the end. So if I end up buying the Ego, it is because of Star Trek Voyager.

    A Metal Zone as a boost in front of an Orange solid state amp or on a Fender Twin works wonders. …middle controls all at noon, with the distortion at zero and the level cranked all the way.

    I must say: I really like everything about you! Knowledge, skills , humor, thoroughness (oops..),
    And you have a very nice studio space! Wish we were neighbours :)
    I bought the Wampler Mini Ego
    Because of your video, and a Keeley GC2 limiting amplifier as well , i think you’re the guy who could explain/show what’s so special&handy about it ... cheers, arend

      @@EytschPi42 Thank you for the reply. So you feel Tumnus over the Euphoria in your opinion ? I have not played either one. From other's demos, I tend to hear more fuzz on the Euphoria. Not a lot, but a hint. Hard choice. I will say what I do like about both (again I have not played), but the attention on the low end tones.

    hi Henning
    I'm sure you have done the explanation before but with the details the other way round ie, for every 1dB above the threshold the gain is reduced by 4db with a 4:1 ratio. Great vids as always, have fun at NAMM
    Gary

    • @noahlangseth5196
      @noahlangseth5196 7 лет назад +1

      Gary Wapshare What he said was exactly right. What you said doesn't even make sense. Following what you said, if your volume is just below the threshold, it will be louder than if your volume is above the threshold. (You claimed if you add 1db the compressor then takes away 4db, making it even quieter than when the volume at the threshold.)

    Not sure about compressing that hard for a blues overdrive tone. I'd usually want a long note to die off naturally to get that space in my playing. The greater the difference between loud and soft, the more expressive you can get. And that's the blues, right?
    But for country and funk, that's your tone, right there. Pretty steep price tag, though.

      1440p is not 4k. If on youtube the full resolution isn't available that means it's not done rendering it yet, so you'll need to come back a while later.

    I had one and sold at the same day. Wampler have too much bass and is not natural ( it colors the bass frequency). Alone is ok but together with delay and or overdrive is too much!!
    Xotic SP is much better, natural sound, and well built than EGO !!

    • @i6g7f
      @i6g7f 2 года назад +1

      Can't compare to Wampler, but SP is neat.
