IMO this is one of the great modern pop examples of a cover version shedding light on another artist's original song, amazing musicianship and interpretive skills
I love Outkast, i come from a hip hop background and i found Sarah's interpretation to be amazing. Her voice is beautiful. Its truly unfortunate that the world is filled with so many insecure people who would sooner say horrible things about another person or attempt to invalidate other colours simply because they can't see or understand them.
Her version is amazing, she attaches this mellow low key vibe with her voice, good for just chilling. I don't get why these people bag it, shes unique! She's not even hipster, she's more alternative and you don't need to be a hipster to enjoy her voice.
Really nice version for revealing the more serious underlying meanings behind the lyrics. Actually a pretty deep song, which I did not fully realise until hearing this version. The lyrics are really well-written and the warmth of Sarah's voice brings empathy and sunlight. Just gorgeous
One of my favorite songs and she made me like it even more! What a great rendition, I mean her voice the guitar and even her back up was pretty damn good!
Always knew the chorus, "Hey Ya!" had a lot of sadness in it, and gave the dancefloor tune a great depth, but did not realize how very dark the verses are. It's amazing how Andre 3000 performs it so up - great contrast.
That is quite a voice but my $5 bet is what makes her a genius and this cover so good is EMPATHY. That is some super precise emotion going on in this performance. Yeah you gotta have the mad musical skill to communicate the emotional knowledge. But you have to have the knowledge in the first place. Empathy. I don’t know what she’s like when she’s not singing but when she’s creating she’s huge.
I didn't realize what that song was about till this version. very touching, great work Sarah must be hard to get through the lyrics without tears. but you forgot 'just want you in my caddy"
he does the C and then slides the C-shape up two frets to make a nice sounding D. Its a very nice alternative when transitioning from a C to a D or just playing a D variation!
Buzz C You know what you're right... You are entitled to your opinion. I just wish you had a more...Tasteful one. But hey, to each his own. Bless ya life.
+Dee Jay A mixture of that and the fact that she starts speaking more than she sings. There is a word for it in german, but not in english. It is annoying as fuck.
Her voice is really awesome, but you can tell they hardly rehearsed, if at all. It's unfortunate. This could have been so much better with a bit of practice beforehand.
She has to be one of the most talented singers ever, her vocal ability always amazes me!
who's watching this 10 years later, Sarah Blasko is amazing
Here in May 2024! :)

I didn't realise how sad and melancholy the lyrics of this song were until Sarah Blasko sang it. Fantastic.

Amazing! I can totally hear Cerys Matthews (Catatonia 1990s) in her voice, but a bit less Welsh! Outstanding.

Lyrics on a QANTAS vomit bag?
Darren Wishart-Brown quantas
thats because they record it live, with raw talent. Rather than artificially engineering it in a high tech studio!

Hey Yarrrr

Her voice is like velvet
I like it until 2:10 and then I just want to rip my brain out through the nose.
Wtf why...
+Charlie Wright probably got too repetitive or something
+Dee Jay A mixture of that and the fact that she starts speaking more than she sings.
There is a word for it in german, but not in english. It is annoying as fuck.
Unleash The Kraken! I didn't get up to that bit but im guessing its the Hey Fellas bit
+Dee Jay Yea, she does it from 1:50 and then pretty much the rest of the song.
HEEEEEEEEY YAH
Man, this was all serious and thought-provoking right up until about 1:51
almost every like a version i see with an acoustic guitar, there is at least 1 person asking for a tab =)
She should every song, hard work for Sarah I know, but every song sounds better with her singing it.
