The Hydrasynth Deluxe was my first serious synth. It's changed my music life, and I'm grateful to see it grow into an even more spectacular instrument. Thank you so much ASM!
I just want to extol my appreciation for this company and machine. Until 8 months ago all I’ve ever played was acoustic guitar. I got the hydrasynth deluxe as my first ever synth and while I’m still learning and underutilizing it, the extent to which it’s changed my life is immeasurable. I’ve finally been able to tap into this creative urge I’ve felt for 32 years to make music, and the hydrasynth has opened up possibilities for expression I’ve never thought possible on my own in my bedroom. It is one of my most prized possessions I own and I look forward to learning and growing alongside it for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for making such a stellar product.
I love the subtle but nice repeated reminders to read to manual haha. I'm going to try to use that method at work. It's a great manual btw. As an aside, I've had my HS for about 2 years and since I bought it, it totally killed my GAS. Rather than buy anything new I just spend a few more hours experimenting and learning the HS. Still feels as new and fresh as the day I bought it.
Lovely job, Glen. This really cements the already well-established fact, that you're in tune with the owners of the synth, and what they request. Looking forward to seeing what the future brings for you and the synth :)
Fantastic, particularly the additional memory banks and the voice modulators which will vastly help to achieve an even more analog sound. Thank you so much, guys!
First thing I thought about the voice modulators was... Is it just offsets?! - What about multipliers!? (x0.76, x3.27) But I ask for a lot. And I don't even have one.
The Hydrasynth(s) are future classics, thank you for some of the most fun I've had playing synths in over forty years. Also, big thank you for making a 73-note PolyAT keyboard, you put Moog and Roland etc. to shame.
Who needs a manual with good tutorials. 😎 Thanks for the update. Everything installed just smoothly. The bitreduction looks really cool! Combined with the quantized LFO's will give great results.
Superb sound, monster sound engine and a silly price for what it offers. A serious synth without any doubt. I'm buying/playing/programming synths for near 40 years, and I was amazed from the overall quality (features/sound/hardware/price-wise) of my Hydrasynth Explorer. Hands down one of the very Top synths around in any synth & price category.👍 Keep up the excellent work guys!👌
Voice modulation!!!! Been praying for a way to do per-voice variations since I picked up my explorer, its one of the only feature I felt it was lacking. Bless you, ASM!
Great update! BTW - I would love the feature that would allow to hold poly-aftertouch values (with a press of some key) - it would work great with arpeggios, when you are happy with specific pressure/ modulation on every finger
This is excellent. It would also be great someday to have the "phrase" arp mode in the menu changeable to a proper sequencer mode. Super basic like the Matriarch even-
Would really love an octave split on the keyboard for Keys & Explorer like the Sequential Take 5 so you can have bass and lead zones available at once without having to access the octave pedal… and the option to map the 3 oscillators across the keybed.
Hi Glen. So happy for you and your [well-deserved] success with the Hydrasynth. My question: Do you think it will ever be possible, via firmware updates, to assign one preset to the ribbon controller, while the Keys play a different preset? Thanks! Mark
Damn I just got an Explorer two days ago…. very serendipitous! I am testing it out as a potential replacement for my Arturia Minifreak, which is a lovely synth but does too much “hand holding” for my creative brain. This update takes it over the top! The only suggestion I have now is that the delay and reverb could work as send fx as a secondary option to the dry/wet mode. Thank you!
@@visible7044 depends on how it's programmed. For instance with the Arturia Minifreak bringing up the Delay or Reverb send does not "mix out" the dry signal but simply makes both in equal volume, that way even at the highest setting the original dry signal volume remains the same but you still get the trails or delay feedback when the send is rolled back, hence "send". Right now I have to apply gain compensation when the mix knob goes anywhere above 50% to get the dry signal to be near where it was. Using sends will not get you 100% wet signal though. They just have different use cases and it would be a neat feature IMO.
Who's else is experiencing the issue where the synth would sometimes produce harsh static or other noises when scrolling through factory patches? Back to 1.5 firmware and updating to 2.0 firmware doesn't resolve the problem. Mine is a Hydrasynth keyboard got few days ago.
I'm dying to know what's cooking in the ASM kitchen. As the Hydrasynth is my favorite synth and has been my main instrument for the past 3 years, I wonder what's next... an FM/Additive synth? a drum machine/synth? A workstation?
Future update idea: onboard scale and tuning updates. These can both be imported but having it onboard would be much more convenient. Also, I wish I could use mod inputs as an oscillator,e.g. to pull in a modular synth patch. Lastly a comb filter mode on f1 would be amazing 🙂
Its a great update - Hydra makes even more fun now! But i wish for a "patch step back" possibility , when i hit multiple times the random button (to create a random patch), it would be nice to jump to previous random patch settings. It often happens to me that i thought ... man this patch was great but i jumped over it by hitting random again ;)
Fantastic updates!!, but I still wait desperately for the possibility to name my own patch categories. The existing ones don't fit my needs. Who needs arp AND sequence and who needs two fx categories?
well , ARP and sequence are not the same thing. so many people need that. Fx and FX music play two different roles in scoring so this is also often utilized. what categories would you suggest?
@@AshunSoundMachines O.k. the point goes to you. I would find categories like - bells, mallets, synths, plucks, guitars, woodwinds, orchester, textures - very helpful. The problem (which of course isn't really A PROBLEM) is, that finding a sound in a synth with this immense capabilities! and now 1024 memory slots, is very tedious and distracting at times. Other than that...I love my Hydrasynths (49 and Deluxe) and will never let them go.
So is this 2.0 update an update that can be applied to the previous Hydrasynth? I was about to go out today and buy a Hydrasynth but if the store only has the previous version and it's not able to be upgraded to version 2.0, then I won't bother.
Is it possible to have polyphonic unison modes on this synth (stacking two notes together and thus having 4 voice polyphony instead of 8, for instance)? EDIT: Nevermind, you CAN do it in 2.0, thanks to the Voicemod feature! Having the Hydrasynth control itself by plugging both ends of a midi cable into it (or having a daw send X midi channels over USB works too), and having every other voice be a slightly different pitch via voicemod works too!!!
Are you stating that by plugging a MIDI cable from the out back to the in on the Hydrasynth it will trigger 2 voices when hitting a single key in poly mode? (One from the local keyboard and one from the incoming MIDI which also happens to come from the local keyboard)
@@klstay Yes, although I've found that sending two notes at once through a daw using an extremely short midi delay works better with having both notes play different sounds though.
@@uubrmanx thanks for the response. The primary goal for me is the standalone ability to hit keys and send that to the pair of voices next up - 1&2, 5&6, etc. All the odd voices will be set at 64 for various parameters and even -64. Then use pairs of LFOs and EGs with inverted macro ranges over phase, delay, depth, etc. Much more to set up/manage than binaural mode on a Super 6, but also a lot more possibilities.
Nice. Here are my requests: 1. Ability to save and load effects module settings 2. Ability to save and load macro settings 3. Save chords and/or scales with patch 4. Transmit all midi notes of chord feature instead of trigger note

so excited about the bit reduction!!! This is something I've been hoping for since I fell in love with my HS keyboard 2 years ago.
