- The 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 GMC Yukon are brand new models for this year, so in this video we dive into the differences between the Tahoe Premier and the Yukon SLT with the Luxury Plus Package.
I evaluate the SUVs in seven different categories, and decide whether one has an advantage in each category. They are as follows:
1. Value (Price and features of each vehicle)
2. Safety (Both active safety features and passive IIHS results)
3. Power-train and performance (Engine, transmission, 0-60 time)
4. Fuel Economy (EPA rated fuel efficiency)
5. Reliability (Rated by Consumer Reports)
6. Functionality (How well the SUV performs intended function)
7. Styling (How each SUV looks, from my point of view)

The Yukon has the same interior as the Tahoe in all trims except Denali. The Denali has an exclusive interior.
I love the Denali interior.
The screens are the same in the yukon sle and slt and all trims of the tahoe, but the denali has a bigger screen

The Yukon has tube piping on the leather seats on the SLT and the Tahoe you have to go all the way to premier to get it. Also the door handles with the chrome trim on them comes on SLT and again the Premier on the tahoe. Seems like the yukon is a little fancier and provides a bit more detail earlier in the trim level compared to tahoe or suburban.

USB-C is the new standard and they are future proofing. The one USB-A is there for convenience.
I'd believe that if it was a PD port and/or the Hotspot was 5G vs 4G LTE.
recently i get Taho LS 2021 4x4 one from the Best cars i drive ever it is good for city , off road, family you can do many things with this Monster
USB C will become more prominent making the truck stay fresh and up to date longer on the technology side of things.
I personally want the Z71 with all options. It comes out to about $70k and when compared to the Denali the only thing it’s really missing is 2 less speakers and ventilated seats but for $10k less.
I also think the taho design looks better. The huge grill and giant GMC badge ruin the Yukon’s looks for me.
Is there any way you could do a comparison on both standard models? With no upgrade packages or add-ons?

To me the Yukon Denali has always hit the sweet spot of the luxury you get in an Escalade while keeping the truck like ruggedness that these big SUV's are known for.
Agreed. I drive an '18 Escalade ESV because I could find a comparable Denali for the same price. Took the better CPO warranty and free 3/36 maintenance with Cadillac.

In your review on the interior dash screen you stated that you are different comparing the Yukon SLT to Tahoe premier. However they are the same they are different only when you pick the Yukon Dinali FYI
I have been in a Tahoe and thought it was super nice. Somehow the Yukon has so much more brand prestige. In people's minds, the Tahoe is just a Chevy, but the Yukon is a luxury SUV.

The GMC is classier looking, always has been. Not too much difference in the interiors unless you get the Denali trim but it's a fact, Chevy is the "common" truck on the road while the GMC is less seen and therefore more admired... ;)
You do not need to buy an adapter if you have an iPhone released in the last two years. Both the iPhone 11 and 12 came with a USB-c to Lightning cable included in the box.

The Tahoe Hybrid was ahead of its times. It’s time they reintroduce that concept as a plug-in hybrid model. With 70+ electric only range. And a parallel hybrid fuel efficiency of 60mpg. That would be soooooo amazing.

From what I've researched if you want ventilated seats you have to get the Premier or any of the Yukons. If you want Mag Ride you have to get a Denali or Premier and up. Chevy likes to force you to get a sunroof (which for most people is fine, I don't like them). A huge bummer is no diesel for the Z71 or AT4.
There is usb c to lightning usb cords and the newer iPhones do come with them. So the usb shouldn’t be a big issue for iPhone users.

Tahoe Premier……pay attention to the rear lighting description. Rear TAIL lights are LED as in tail running lights. The brake, turn signal and back up lights are incandescent. LASFIT does make LED upgrade kits for the back up and turn signals……CANBUS as in the plug and play replacement with the resistors built in.
As of now there is not a brake light LED upgrade kit for either….at least one that will be effective.
Can we get comparisons of base models?
I didn't hear mention of the GMC having 'Active Response 4WD' (electronic limited-slip differential known as eLSD, to manage traction and power distribution based on the driving scenario). This traction assist seems like an important safety feature, and would be a big factor in my preference for the GMC. According to Car and Driver, the Tahoe doesn't have it available. I don't know if I just missed you mentioning it in your presentation or not. BTW, your presentation overall was EXCELLENT! Thank you.
Glad you liked the video! I didn't mention the eLSD because it is not available on the SLT trim Yukon. It's an option on the AT4 and Denali, however. And you're right, this feature is not offered on the Chevy in any trim level.

That is correct. If you want navigation you have to get the $2,490 bundled nav/rear seat media system.
Just use Waze thru CarPlay or AndroidAuto. I think it’s smart and saves your money. Also, I think it’s the way the industry is trending.
You wrong the type c port is future proof compared to the obsolete usb 2.

It’s crazy to me that air suspension isn’t standard across all trims. For $60,000 one should get it. That’s the feature I care about the most for a 3 row SUV.
Have you not experienced MRC shocks before? Though air has ride height control, you'll most likely have to be replaced before the mag shocks.
Can you do 2021 Chevrolet Suburban Vs Chevrolet Tahoe?
Yes! I am looking to film an LT trim Suburban in the next few days, so that video will hopefully be out in the next two weeks sometime. If you're not around for it, the long and short of it is that they have nearly identical features except the Suburban has more space for cargo and can tow slightly less since it's heavier.
I have the Tahoe HC 2021...if u keep your foot lighter on the gas pedal am getting 21.7 mpg..I have the 6.2
I used to love the Tahoe exterior but 2021 changed that. The 2021 Yukon Denali is beautiful!! Even the other trims are so good looking.
Unfortunately the rear of the Tahoe is not all led, the turn signal, reverse and I believe brake light are all incandescent. Honestly ridiculous for a new model, especially at this price point and it hurts the looks a little too imo.
Yea not a good video to go off of. First the model you choose vs the one we needed to see was off. The Yukon SLT has the same dash and radio layout as the tahoe premier. The Denali has a different infotainment layout. Denali's also have a different front grille vs the SLT. Either way you can't go wrong with either one. Depends on personal preference, I recently purchased a 2021 tahoe premier and love it. If I had the extra 12k I would have chosen a Denali lol

If you have a new iPhone that is at least 2 years old then it comes with a charger that is type A to the lighting. That’s why most new cars have type A ports

A mistake on your comparison. The SLT come with cooled seats. The LT doesn’t. That’s a huge deal if you live in the south and us them almost daily.
For the Yukon, if it is the SLT trim, why does it say Denali all over it?
Because the one in the video is a Denali. It was the only one available to film with.

Tahoe Premier loaded out with Premium package, TX edition, 2nd row bucket seats, sliding center console 4WD……$74K….ish
Yukon SLT loaded with about 90% of comparable equipment as Premier……$70-$72K….ish. Major loss for GMC. No HUD.
Tahoe except for the HC and Yukon except Ssnali…..base engine 5.3V8 or Duramax 3.0 turbo Diesel optional. HC and Denali 6.2 V8 standard although I believe Duramax Diesel available.
Pound for pound and true comparison a fully loaded out SLT with every option box checked is the closest you will get to Premier and the only major items missing from SLT is the HUD and dual/dual (quad) exhaust tips. You could go 22”s and performance upgrades ( bigger brakes, engine performance tuning, etc and come at or slightly above Premier.
The Infotainment screen for pretty much all models except Denali is sticking on a purpose built shelf….yes almost like it was a afterthought add on. Denali screen looks classy and like the dashboard was built around the screen not the screen added in later.
If you have a dealer that is both and have.both on the lot then I recommend placing side by side for comparison…open doors, hood, lift gate on both and have plenty of room. Had my dealer had both comparably equipped models on lot for comparison I probably would have gone with the Yukon fully loaded SLT but Premier was in stock and not already sold like many.
Whatever model you get…..a dime more than MSRP is way overboard with the greed. MSRP is a bit too but sellers market and demand is high. These days the I will be back could backfire on you. The price is not necessarily the problem but availability. Even at MSRP still tough to be too picky. You can custom order but with unknown ETA to dealer. Mine was minimum six-ten weeks probably longer….
Also expect 2022 MY production to be delayed due to the global chip shortage.
Thinking…..”get a really good deal on a 2021 model to make room for the 2022 MY…..think again…… dealers don’t have to make room….unfortunately for a lot of dealers there is too much empty space.
If you are in the market I would almost be ready to jump now…..especially if you have a trade in decent condition. Production will eventually resume and the trade in value will drop more. Have to play the sweet spot where new inventory is low enough to get better trade in value but high enough to make it worth it. When production resumes the trade in value will drop again and that whatever trade you were offered $25K for might drop to $20 or even $15K even though it might only be a few weeks older.

Denali same load out $84K ish.
Yes in HC and Denali. Your paying for the name. Some options come standard on HC and Denali but much higher base price.

Actually, technically the two-speed transfer case in the Chevy would make it 'better' off road. But if you get the Denali with the same transfer case, they are identical off-road.

they are garbage, how much will this cost? 100k? I paid 80k for my 2016 and at 50 miles the transmission will fail, see the other videos related to the power converter !! The same thing happens to everyone and they are spending thousands of dollars to fix the problem, and GMC has not fixed the problem since 2015 !!!
