The yoga nidras in this series are based on the Amrit style of yoga nidra and are designed to control and manage cravings, helping us to break free from addictions and bad habits. We begin with relaxation practices using the bumblebee breath and sound, gentle breath retention, and a safe place visualization. We then progress with breathing techniques to balance the body and gently focus the mind before starting body scans. We culminate with the visualization of ourselves as a tree before meditating in silence.
With the help of these yoga nidra recordings, we can release self-criticism and comparison with others as our self-expression continues to move toward its highest potential. This way, we can recognize our inner light and accelerate the process of self-acceptance for overall well-being.
Yoga Nidra translates to "yogic sleep" in English and refers both to a state of consciousness, different from waking, dreaming, and deep sleep states, and to different styles of guided meditations that allow us to consciously access this state.
Each of these meditations is a specific sequence of relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness techniques that gradually and gently help the body, mind, and emotions become quieter, calmer, and more silent. Participants systematically induce deep levels of rest and relaxation in themselves that may not have been accessible even through natural physiological sleep, perhaps due to stress or chronic health conditions. As such, Yoga Nidra itself is considered a form of non-sleep deep rest (NSDR), a term coined by neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman.
This meditation follows the typical format of the Integrative Amrit Method (I AM) of Yoga Nidra, developed by Gurudev Amrit Desai of the Amrit Institute, which focuses on the energy body. As such, it is possible to go into deep states of meditation in a relatively short amount of time compared to other types of meditation.
Simply follow my guidance as best as you can, and your body and mind will do the rest. As we develop patience, persistence, and consistency in our yoga nidra sessions, we will notice moments of stillness multiplying in our daily lives. The right actions, right responses, and right decisions will flow through us spontaneously and effortlessly. The process of transformation will be subtle at first, but the benefits will accumulate with each practice, and favorable changes will manifest exponentially.
As Gurudev would say, Jai Bhagwan! (Victory to the Spirit! Or Victory for the Spirit!)
