How to open a broken GE Profile microwave oven

Our not so old GE Profile microwave door won’t open because the button to open the door is broken. This was how I open the door to get the food out of the oven while I will find a fix to the door opener.

Wow. Thanks for this amazing video. This is the second time we've had this problem with our microwave that's just 4 years old. Following your I instructions, we popped the door open on the first try, then were able to reach the trim screws to remove the microwave to fix it.

Omg.. soooo incredibly helpful! Thank you very for making this video! This was installed as a’ builder upgrade package’ when we got our house 3 yrs ago.. and since then..I have had to do a warranty replacement twice in three years because of this ridiculous flaw. And so most recent replacement has been holding my soup hostage for four days now… ( within one week after the warranty expired… of course. ). It’s still functioning perfectly fine otherwise… .. would have cost at least 3-400 to replace.. so seriously thank you 🙏🏼 🙌🏼

I’m glad I was able to show these to people who have no idea how to manually open a stuck microwave door like this one. GE knew of these flaws but they kept selling these to the consumers. If I knew these were bad microwave I wouldn’t have it installed or I would have selected a different brand.
