I am an electronic engineer and have the same problem with my GE microwave. I tested the microswitches and they seem to be good. Thanks for your explanation and it makes sense now. You are an experienced technician.
This guy just saved me about $600.00. We were thinking we would have to buy a new microwave and then get it installed. Just a stuck door switch. Highly recommend his videos!
I have watched thousands of various repair videos. I have never watched one so thorough and patient. For me, this was a curb find today. My personal microwave is shot. I am officially your newest fan as of today. Prolly not today, but I'll get it. Looking forward to seeing other vids you have published. Dan, Pittsburgh. Be well and prosper.
What an outstanding job you did explaining all steps in the repair procedure process. Your explanations and instruction are so appreciated. And no, you do not talk too much, and Thank you so much for the instruction. I have signed up for your site. I have also sent your video to many friends. All the best!
we have this same microwave. i've watched so many videos. wish i had found yours first. i tested and replaced the fuse, the monitor switch and the switch bracket and still have problems. it started with the microwave tripping our breaker when you open the door while it's running (it's on it's own circuit, no recent outages or anything). after replacing the fuse, and the monitor microswitch, it would turn on, let me set the clock(with all the beeps and everything), and even turned on and warmed up water. but when i tested for the trip by opening the door while it was running it tripped the breaker again and shut off. the fuse and all the micro switches test good for continuity. i tested the thermostats on the bottom floor of the microwave and the left one tests good for continuity, but the right one (the hood thermostat i think it's called), doesn't. was hoping this was going to be an easy fix, but it's turned out not to be the case.... i'll probly fiddle with it a little more, but then ill just give up. the only other thing that i wish you had added was what else i could have looked at in the event that the door bracket, switches, and fuse werent the problem, what else can i test for continuity, etc? what else could be the issue? you said capacitor in your video but is that the next thing i should check?? At any rate, thank you. this helped confirm what i've done up to this point. 💖
@@MsHoneyBBQ good job . Capacitor would be the next part to test . If you are not sure about a part to test you can always bypass it , for example magnetron can be bypassed to eliminate the problem or similar components.
Thanks Hameed for a detailed and informative video. I have GE 1.7 cu.Ft JVM6172sf1ss lights on but don't start and produce heat. What can be the problem.
Hi Hameed, thanks for the video, very informative. I'm wondering what issue did the customer report for the GE microwave? I ran into issue with the exact same GE model where the unit just stopped working after using it. I tested the fuse and switches and there were no issues with the continuity tests. The breaker also didn't get tripped and the outlet is properly working. It had power as I was using it and all of a sudden no power. What do you think I need to test next?
Hi Hameed, before my microwave was working and it was tripping main switch. So each time we have to reset. Now completely it is dead. Do you know, is it a switch or Thermal fuse?
remember this: when checking with that light bar tool you must also put a full cup of water in the microwave do not forget this... we have Techs have those light bars melt down no joke... just say`n and maybe they left it in there way to long ???
Hi there very informative video. My microwave wouldnt power either. Now, the fuse appears to show continuouty but the middle switch (which is normally closed) beeps both ways when depressed and pressed. I have ordered a.new switch but wondering can faulty switch itself also results in NO POWer to the panel?? Eventhough my fuse is ok?

Thank you so much . And it’s ok if you talk a lot in your videos they are very informative.

Check your capacitor to make sure it does not have continuity. If it does it would be your problem.
Thank you for this amazing video that is very thorough, but for the love of god, it’s con·ti·nu·i·ty, not con·tin·ity
What did you put in microwave that lit up. it looked like plexiglass?
I have the same microwave,it powers on and everyrhing but there is no heat, would the door switches affect that or is the magnetron shot? Thanks!

I usually test it less then 2 minutes but that’s a good catch 😁
Thank you!
Please remove that fuse before testing it.
Otherwise, you're testing back through the circuit board
which tells you nothing.
