  • PART TWO is found on DayleSong's channel here: • AURORA *NIDAROSDOMEN* ...
Join us for our reaction to Aurora Aksnes’ concert in Nidarosdomen (The Nidaros Cathedral) in Trondheim, Norway with her band Trondheim Solistene, the Oslo Bassoon Choir (Oslo Fagottkor), and musicians Petra Bjørkhaug on the organ and Ruth Potter on the harp. The concert was recorded November 2, 2017 and broadcast by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation on December 28, the next month as a Christmastime concert.
Aurora wishes that the program both inspires the joy of the Christmas season as well as provides solace to those who may feel down at this time of year, acknowledging that “it’s okay to feel the way they feel, too;” and that “It’s important that we tolerate both of these feelings during Christmas.”
We present our reaction at the time of St. Lucy’s Day (December 13), the Scandinavian holiday of light and vision. May we enjoy brightness, musical insights, and stunning vocal talents as hope alights until Christmas Day and we inspired throughout the new year.

Aurora has been a medicine in my life now for 7 years and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing her perform live 3 times and I’ve no hesitation in saying she’s the essence of what the true art form of music should be all about.what I love about her is that she’s never carved to become the top of any billboard chart music for her runs far deeper, she calls her songs her little children and you can visibly see in her performances how much they mean to her,I’ve no doubt in saying she’s the best singer songwriter to have come out of Europe for a very long time but more than that she’s one of the most beautiful humble human beings you could ever wish meet.only one word to describe her Genius ❤️

I’m sorry for correcting you, but there were 69 people who were killed on Utøya and most of them were youths, her friend was 17 and it’s he that’s the boy in the grass🥰
Right before this happened 8 people were killed when a bomb went off in Oslo, so in total there were 77 victims❤️

    Very nice reaction🤗
She wrote every song except for Nature boy, Walking in the air and Life on Mars.
She was 21 years old, and she’s self taught when it comes to singing and playing piano👍
If I could choose one concert to be at, it would be this one for sure😍
I think there were about 1100 people in the audience.
The choir (Fagott-koret) consists of gay men. And then you have her band and the orchestra.
Everything with this concert including the production is top notch👍
My guess why she chose to sing “Nature boy” is that one of her favourite artists are David Bowie, but that’s only a guess😊
She wrote “Little boy in the grass” after loosing a friend in the awful massacre on Utøya (Norway) in 2011, he was only 17 years old.
69 people were shot and killed on that small island and most of them were youths (the youngest were 14)🥺❤️
    “Under stars”
The press release for the single read:
"It's about us. About the people we've lost through time, and how we handle that loss. The guilt of still being alive when they are not, and the hope that they might only be sleeping, maybe still dreaming, under the stars."
    “Winter Bird”
    She explained to The 405:
"Sometimes you need to be reminded of how it was to feel alive. It's a tricky situation to find yourself in. When you've forgotten about your reasons to live."
    “Walking in the air”
This is a song written by Howard Blake for the 1982 animated film The Snowman based on Raymond Briggs's 1978 children's book of the same name.
    “Lucky”
She wrote this song when she was only 9 years old 😳
Aurora explained the song's meaning to The 405:
"It's about realizing that you've been through dark tunnels in life, but still walking forward, both feet strong. We are all lucky to be alive, it's an important thing to remember."
When asked in an interview by Bergensmagasinet if the line "not everybody knows that I am lucky to be alive" was inspired by a specific event, she said:
"It can be interpreted in many ways. I am hypersensitive and very sensitive to everything around me when it comes to sounds, lights and the way people speak [the tone]. It was difficult for me when I discovered that not all children are as well off as I am; I thought a lot about how sad it was, and that I'm just lucky to have been born right here. It feels so random, like a stroke of luck, like something I can easily lose. There is a lot in the world that you can feel threatened by, things that can make you think that I will not survive this."
Can’t wait for the next part🥰
She released a new song on the 8th of November called “Your Blood”, so could you please do a reaction to both the MV and the live performance at the Meet and Greet in Beijing.
    Two very different versions ❤️🩸

The stunned silence on both of your faces during Lucky said it all lol....
That performance of that song isn't just good or great....it's what we should show aliens before we show them anything else. It's astonishing anything could be that good or emotionally affecting. Two tiny moments I love: the choir during the "I...I don't know where I am.." bridge. It's soft and subtle...but you can hear these countermelody lines that are just ACHINGLY beautiful. Like Mozart level...seriously. Another moment is _just before_ each chorus...when she repeats the line "that I've been..." The 2nd time, on the word "been" it sounds like she flattens the note just a bit. Maybe it's a major 7th? It feels like it...but I haven't checked. That one note....gah. What a beautiful subtle touch.

One of the songs that I absolutely adore by Aurora is "Under Stars." The lyrics of this song are truly exceptional and showcase her mastery as a songwriter. In particular, the second verse beautifully describes the feeling of heart-wrenching grief with lines like "Knuckles move, under his skin, He wraps his heart, and drags them in And they move it all around Until we cry." It's truly a masterpiece. Aurora released her debut song, "Puppet," in December of 2012 when she was just 16 years old. Fast forward to this concert, where she is 21, showcasing her growth and talent over the years. I'm really curious to know what Peter and Dayle think about The Warning, a group of sisters from Mexico. Disney even tried to get them to do a show, which speaks volumes about their talent. Not only can they all sing, even the drummer, Pau, is a incredibly talented singer. If you're looking for a recommendation, I highly suggest checking out their performance of "Disciple" from the Teatro Metropólitan (CDMX) concert Aug 2022. As an added bonus, be sure to listen to the songs "When I'm Alone" and "Breathe" from the Pepsi Center CDMX concert, which was part of their tenth anniversary concert when Alejandra was 18, Paulina was 21, and Daniela was 23 years old.

@@DoctorDisney Did you guys get a copyright strike thingy on that song? I noticed it skipped forward at random disorienting intervals, and then was over like that. Which was a bummer since I was actually looking forward to your reaction to that song more than any of the others.
RUclips is SO frustratingly random. I've seen TONS of reaction channels do Under Stars in full, often with no pauses even...and those videos are still up to this day. But then it seems they flipped a coin and decided to go after you guys? And apparently just for that one song and not the others?? >_<
Do the record companies actually think going after reaction channels is solving some sort of problem? Gah...I could go on about this forever lol... _gingerly steps off soapbox...._

I love the way she bends the notes when she sings the word "harmony" in this version of Under Stars. I prefer it to the studio version just for that reason. It's such an unconventional sound, but it works so well.

I have to agree with the sentiment that you want keep Aurora as a hidden gem. Aurora is the hero the world needs, but doesn't really deserve. I don't think Aurora wants to blow up and be a huge star. I very much think she just wants to make music for the people who need it, and create a safe place for like minded people. She often talks about how she prefers small shows because she feels like she can connect with the audience more. But Aurora has so much integrity as a person and an artist, that even if she does blow up, she'll handle it with the utmost grace. If you want to hear Aurora push and belt out a note, I'd recommend her newest song "Your Blood". She uses a bit of her chest voice, and plays with her voice a bit.

Great seeing you guys react to this magical concert! 👍🤟
"Walking in the Air" is from the animated movie "The Snowman." Although she didn't write it, I feel the fantasy elements of the lyrics, as well as all the nature references, fit her like a glove. Great arrangement from the orchestra too. BTW, Nightwish also covered this song during the Tarja era, both in the studio and live. I do feel like Aurora's light touch is a better fit than the Nightwish version, which is more operatic, though.

You should try and hear the unique singer Eivør sing the song Falling Free live in the theater in Tórshavn. Eivør has a voice that no singer can compete with.
Eivør comes from the lonely islands in the North Atlantic called the Faroe Islands.
In the Faroe Islands, the population speaks the old Nordic Viking language, which has been preserved due to the islands' location alone in the North Atlantic.
