Levy looks absolutely terrified during the judging. The man is genius but then again this whole crew are the funniest actors and actresses from their day.
That's the hallmark of a Christopher Guest mockumentary. There is always great love for the subject matter. He treats the people in the films like quirky family members.
I LOVE how the movie is written so that you cannot feel bad about who wins. Cookie and Gerry truly needed the win since they had financial struggles. Everyone else was totally solid in their lives.
And here I am in 2022 watching all these clips. I just finished watching “Waiting for Guffman” on HBO and had to keep watching christopher guest’s movies …brilliant guy!❤
I'm looking for the clip where Fred Willard turns to the British guy and asks something like "Can you guess how much I can bench press ?" .... The British guy's reaction is priceless. It's two decades since this movie came out but that line is still fresh in my mind. Genius !
0:18 Hey, my dad’s in this shot. His name’s Ron Mathison. He was an extra. He had to sit in his seat in the Pacific Colosseum in Vancouver all day and his butt was sore when filming wrapped up
Mr. Willard "morphed" into Joe Garagiola who was a "sportcaster" (and sub-host) on the NBC Today show. He was "out-of-place" there and then actually hosted a few Dog shows (out of place there also..) which I'm sure Mr. Willard watched...:)
Christopher Guest (and the whole group from Monty Python) created the most enduring hyperbolic characters! I think of “Spinal Tap” and how the speakers went up to a volume of “11” instead of “10.” It has become part of everyday speech! Listen how often lines such as these are used! He’s our “Shakespeare for quotes!” (partly sarcasm!)
this is maybe the only time that old (OLD!) "guy looks behind him when pointed at" bit works as comedy for me, and it's probably solely because of Eugene Levy. though also it's like, _who else could he possibly be pointing at?_ it's a widely-spaced line of clearly-defined candidates - there's only crowd behind him. so i guess it's funny either way.
i seriously don't understand why they made this movie.. not just trying to hate, I'm fully open to hearing some opinions on this, a bit of clarity would somehow ease a kind of pain in my head here..
It's a satire on the hyper competitive OTT world of show dogs and dog shows, spoofing all the types involved, the ultra serious level its taken to, and some of the craziness involved.
“Yes I remember you said that last year.” 😆
Fred Willard basically keeps playing the same character in all these Christopher Guest movies and it never gets old.
He had unique comedic skills. RIP
Rip the best
I was about to reply what? He’s not dead he’s... and then I googled it...this is how I found out... RIP
Most actors do
Does anyone else get super happy when they watch this part? They really did pick the best in show. That dog is adorable beyond words!
Yeah, this was a fun mockumentary flick and that and the many other Best of Group winners were lovable as well.
Levy looks absolutely terrified during the judging. The man is genius but then again this whole crew are the funniest actors and actresses from their day.
More than just their day, they are the best that spans generations.
You root for Eugene Levy the whole movie. As funny as this film is, this is a great, heartwarming moment
He was fantastic, and every person they met was someone who had slept with his wife. Hysterical.

Love it when members of Spinal Tap take time to do side projects. RIP Fred Willard. Sad day. So talented.
He was great in Spinal Tap too!
Rip fred we love you

They’re all great!
it's a _truly_ great comedy if it moves you a bit, too. i'm never _not_ happy when they announce the winner in this movie. it's a classic.

another great part when Willard asks him “are the dogs judged just by how well they are groomed or...?” The british guy is speechless 😂😂😂
Can you tell me in which scene Fred Willard says something like.." and to think in some countries people eat these magnificent animals"
"Wow look at the size of that cup, I've taken spunge baths in tubs smaller than that."
Only Fred could make that sound funny.
16 page script and brilliant acting/improv by everyone.
“Like the umpire calling a close call at home plate in the bottom of the ninth…” 😂😂
RIP FRED...will be missed
2:42 Jane Lynch heroically captures the face of every hyper-competitive Type-A personality in the world. :)
Agree!
It's so spot on.
They cut the clip before we could see her "How dare they not pick me; I'm horrified!" face.
Pitch perfect comedy from one of the greats. RIP Fred
Scott bashing his eye lashes at the judge is the best part.
Never noticed that before.
Gosh, Fred Willard was a genius!!
When made the same face when he won and when he walked in and caught Jim banging the apple pie. 🤣
My dad thought the “Yes, yes, I remember you said that last year…” was one of the funniest lines of the movie. He always cracked up at it.
Jim Piddock going in for the kill.
0:18 Hey, my dad’s in this shot. His name’s Ron Mathison. He was an extra. He had to sit in his seat in the Pacific Colosseum in Vancouver all day and his butt was sore when filming wrapped up
There really couldn’t have been a cuter ending to the movie
And such a masterpiece of comedy
God loves a terrier
RIP Don S. Davis.
RIP fred willard!
Fred Willard first came to light in the soap " Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman " as the side kick to Martin Mull's character talk show host Garth .
Fred Willard's bit wouldn't have been great without a great straight-man.
I love it when he said, 'I've taken sponge baths in bigger bowls than that!' 😂🧽
So hilarious, fred. The best. Rest eternally, man. :/
I love this movie!!
Me too!!!!
same 😊
I’ve taken sponge baths in bowls smaller than that 😆😆😆
Oh Fred you funny, funny man. RIP

I love Jane
Actually loved all the actors in this unrated film

I say " hey wah happen" at least once every week from a " mighty wind"
COLONEL BRIGGS!!!
I'll be damned.
1:19 "Are you just judging on how well a dog is groomed?"
And for once, his partner has no comment because he's right.
the patience of a Trevor
Announcer: THE NORWICH TERRIER!
Wife: screams
My dog "Sporty" is the best dog in the world (and can roll over.)
What a brilliantly funny movie!
So this is where major Briggs went
Owen Reese based off of his descriptions, this must be the white lodge lol
The dogs are not what they seem

Blue ! Your my boy blue ,blue liked the dog races more
One of my moms favorite movies....
The lord loves a terrier
Jesus effing Christ why is there 30 seconds of ads at the end? I wanted to see the whole scene with Cookie hobbling out to the arena.
damn it, of course they cut off the damn clip! I wanted to see Winky win!
Anyone know why Bob Balaban seems to be wearing a medical boot on one foot?
Didn't know General Hammond judged dogs in his off time.
And then American Pie happened
Whole movie ad libbed. Wow.
Just to think that in some countries these dogs are eaten.
How could anybody actually enjoy watching a dog show
Vale Fred Willard.
Only in America.

@@LFire12 Concise and accurate explanation!
You obviously have no sense of humor.
You are a cat lover aren't you? This movie is for dog lovers ONLY. Go away to your litter box.
If someone has to explain it to you, then you wouldn't understand anyway.
