    Lets teardown the Galaxy Note 8. This is the same phone that I did my durability test on, as well as turned the back glass clear. (Thats why the glass is clear at the end of the video). And now its time to see how hard it is to replace the screen on the Galaxy Note 8, as well as swap out the Note 8 battery in a few years when it starts to die. Smartphone batteries dont last forever. Luckily replacement parts for the Galaxy Note 8 arent that expensive (Well the screen is expensive) But Everything else isnt so bad, especially as the device gets older.
    What questions do you have about the Galaxy Note 8 teardown? Would you ever attempt a project like this on your own?

    So do I cut the blue wire or the green wire?

    • @stephen7564
      @stephen7564 6 лет назад +46

      UnPhayzable 3 wires:
      If there are no red wires, cut the second wire.
      Otherwise, if the last wire is white, cut the last wire.
      Otherwise, if there is more than one blue wire, cut the last blue wire.
      Otherwise, cut the last wire.
      4 wires:
      If there is more than one red wire and the last digit of the serial number is odd, cut the last red wire.
      Otherwise, if the last wire is yellow and there are no red wires, cut the first wire.
      Otherwise, if there is exactly one blue wire, cut the first wire.
      Otherwise, if there is more than one yellow wire, cut the last wire.
      Otherwise, cut the second wire.
      5 wires:
      If the last wire is black and the last digit of the serial number is odd, cut the fourth wire.
      Otherwise, if there is exactly one red wire and there is more than one yellow wire, cut the first wire.
      Otherwise, if there are no black wires, cut the second wire.
      Otherwise, cut the first wire.
      6 wires:
      If there are no yellow wires and the last digit of the serial number is odd, cut the third wire.
      Otherwise, if there is exactly one yellow wire and there is more than one white wire, cut the fourth wire.
      Otherwise, if there are no red wires, cut the last wire.
      Otherwise, cut the fourth wire.

    I think Apple might be getting whats it has coming for sometime now with the iPhone 8 batteries expanding. don't get me wrong I have a iPhone 7 plus but now I've started to realise that they just increase the price not to include new features but to make heavy profits. I know as a business you need to make profit to stay in business but when you are making more than 100% of profit, I feel no remorse making a comment like this

    • @__No___223
      @__No___223 6 лет назад +1

      iPhone 8 batteries are not expanding lol. And Apple definitely does not make more than 100% profit. They give you a better deal than Samsung does. It costs around $420 for the parts of the iPhone X. It only costs around $300-$310 for the Note 8 parts. iPhone X is $999, Note 8 is $969. If you include the fact that there’s more manufacturing, marketing, and shipping costs for Apple than for Samsung, you see that Apple gets much less per phone than Samsung does.

      dude i am late to the party... but my iphone 7 battery expanded last year too... its normal... plus HOW DO YOU THINK THEY COULD MAKE 100% PROFIT? LOL

    • @riadriguez5649
      @riadriguez5649 6 лет назад

      Whimsical Penguin you're not getting a better deal from apple than samsung lol, what does marketing have to do with getting your screen repaired?
      From what i know you do pay shipping when shipping your iphone to get it repaired.
      Manufacturing? Yeah because they would have to get the OLED displays from samsung which samsung been making displays for apple for years now.
      Every iphone 8 and X sold, samsung get $110.
      You get much more less on sammy phones when you dont need to spend $80+ dollars for something you should have in the box when you buy the phone.
      Crazy too is the back glass on the iphone x cost $500+ dollars to replace.

    • @javianbrown8627
      @javianbrown8627 6 лет назад

      No problem is when something brakes on the iPhone it costs half the price of the phone to fix. Also it's actually more expensive to make a phone that has a headphone jack waterproof than a phone without it.

    Think it would be cool to do a stress test/benchmark on each phone and include the thermal imaging while the stress test is going. After a few generations of phones we would have a good understanding of what works and doesnt work in mobile phones' heat dissipation (and perhaps why), and of course the stress test results.

      Maybe you cant replace the back panel very easily , but its very easy to repair the display, cant say that about the Note. I think we all prefer a working screen over a fixed back.

    I'm just wondering what you are wearing to stop static electricity so you don't fry your mother board, I work at an electronics company and we have to wear certain clothes and shoes so the static electricity will be subverted into other areas, at work I don't notice it, but when I get home and take off my work clothes that is when you find where it all went, the type of clothing is holding it all.

    How much force does it take to remove the wireless charger from the frame. Mine seems to be mechanically fixed at the upper end. I am really careful because I don‘t wanna break the internal components (I also damaged the fingerprint sensor while removing the back cover- the glue is really strong!!).

    You must hate that awkward fingerprint sensor, surprised you didn't ditched the bixby button as well. I would love to see a bts from this series, it could be fun to see you learn and actually make sense of how these devices assembled for the very first time

    What does the smaller screen ribbon do? Is it necessary to make the screen work? I have a s9 that I want to try to plug the screen into my note 8 for a temporary fix until my screen gets here from China and the s9 only has one ribbon? Does anyone know if the ribbon will be the same length for my note 8 from the s9? Any expertise would be greatly appreciate!!!

    Another great teardown, thanks Zac. I doubt I'll be buying this. I simply don't like the recent tendency for phone manufacturers to build their phones with glass backs. Asking for trouble. Also if they insist upon no removable battery then I will INSIST upon the easy replacement of such. Not this heavily glued up impossible to open crap! So whatever phone has the easier battery replacement (as well as keeping the headphone jack) will get my dough.

    I watched you on Louis Rossmann, now I've seen several of your videos and there great. Thanks. IF you read these, I found a Galaxy Note 8 on the road. No BS. and it was face down with a decent gel case on it. But it had suffered a few cars running over it. the LCD and screen seem to be the only damage. It charges and vibrate beeps and charges up if I shake it the flash light will turn on and off so I feel that the internal of the phone is ok. so my question is can I replace the LCD and front panel and then just put my sim card in it and use it. It was from the same carrier as mine???
