Just wanted to say this was really helpful. Managed to replace the AMOLED display for around 1/3 the cost if sent to Samsung centre. Thanks a lot! Looks difficult but it's actually really easy no joke.
It is pretty easy, the hardest part is getting in through the back in my opinion. I accidentally shattered the back while getting in but that's an extra $10 so I don't really care.
@@chefsweaty6744 Located it at a UK OEM phone parts seller. Their customer service was very responsive and excellent. Was the original Samsung GH97-21065A part, cost me 145 GBP ex. VAT, hence 170 EUR ex. VAT (businesses). Including 20/21% VAT (consumers only) that translates into about 200 EUR excl. shipping. Unfortunately, since the UK has now left the common market of the EU (Bexit), the price will have gone up due to much higher import/shipping/customs/handling charges, so it's no longer interesting for mainland Europeans to source it in the UK. So all in all, translated to USD, your price sounds just right, as long as it actually is the OEM/original screen and not some sketchy far-east clone.
Thank you for this video. It was extremely helpful. All the other you tube videos are crap. I followed your video and just finished replacing the screen w/ digitizer and the back on my wife's Note 8. Took somewhere between 4 and 5 leisurely hours. If anyone is thinking of replacing the screen, watch this video and be sure to get the screen/digitizer together.
@@Atmarixx Was the quality of the screen the same as the original one? I've been told it's not uncommon for vendors to be selling regular LCD screens while advertising them to be AMOLED.
It can be done using specialist tools. There's a video on replacing the glass by a company called Novecel where they use a freezer that chills the LCD to -170C to delaminate the glass and a vacuum pump with special metal plates to fit the new glass to the panel. Your best bet would be to send it in to a company that has the tools.
@@user2C47 well honestly it's better to buy a new condition of the same phone you currently have and just back up your personal data with your Google account than repairing your current old broken phone it's just way easier and less stressful and you can probably keep your old phone for parts only (just saying)

Why are you removing the volume and power button?
really? whats the difference between lcd and oled if you don"t mind me asking?

Just followed your steps.... and all working great now. i buyed an LCD screen with frame. so it was a bit more easy. thanks
Did you buy the display from them?
If yes, was the display original? Is their store legit?

How much did it cost you?
I found $150 for the screen with the frame. Little pricy to justify if I should get a new phone...

What LCD?? Im pretty this is an OLED display and not a late 1990's technology "LCD"
@@reallyryan_ you can buy a lcd phone if youre an old geezer and dont know anything about technology
Yes, it is possible to replace just the glass. ECDIY (and maybe others) sell kits, but the process is difficult and prone to failure.

What about water resistance?
Anytime you break the original seal, the water proofing is compromised and can not be guaranteed.
