My husband is a pool tech And he said your pool is not balanced. You have algae in your pool. He says your pool needs to be shocked. And brush the walls and floor. And that your pool Tech isn't doing a good job. You should switch to a different company. He said the robot's a good thing to have but it's not gonna fix your problems. Cause you. Still Have algae. He said your filter needs to be cleaned too. Hope that helped you. After you're able to get rid of the algae from your pool you need to clean your robot. With the water hose Inside and out because you have algae in the cleaner also and it'll spread to the pool also Clean your basket out Of the pool cleaner.. It might have false fates too. I hope that was helpful.

A tip from someone who was in charge of all pool cleaning as a kid in the 80s and 90s. I HIGHLY recommend that before you use the robot again, do a start of summer deep clean, get a wide pool brush and get all that green off the bottom...the robot will not get it all. And then take a hand brush and go around the tile on the edge. Put on some music, have a drink get in and in an hour or so, that pool will look brand new, and the robot can then do the rest for you. If water chemicals are maintenance regular, you will only have to deep clean once a year.

She has a pool guy that goes weekly but the tree all around and above the pool cause this I think she said. They’re a lot of fruit trees also so I’m not sure if the sugar sap on leaves etc would make it worse. I don’t have a pool so this is purely speculation 😂

    • @giorgiabottalico8625
      @giorgiabottalico8625 11 месяцев назад +27

      Pool tips:
-> once a year in the beginning of the season you should drain the water out, deep clean the bottom and fill with water again (pool guy should do it)
-> every day/every other day run the robot at night, and clean the filters each time (you can do it yourself ) . The robot should be able to go up the sides and stairs too.
-> you can install a digital sensor to monitor and regulate the chemicals (clorine, PH etc)
However, you can only prevent formation of greens with anti-algea pool treatment. Once they are there, you cannot hope to take them off with your robot. No need to renew the bottom in my opinion, it’s just dirty . Nor you need pool guy weekly if you use the robot and self-regulate chemicals on a daily base (as you should): if guy comes once a week you will always only have your pool clean and safe to bathe one day a week.
I highly reccomend not to bathe in that water until greens are there (it is all full of bacteria) and chemical values are fine.

    * GUYS PLEASE UPVOTE THIS TO GET McCenna THE POOL ADVICE SHE NEEDS!* I can't believe I'm writing you pool advice, I normally am the one watching your channel in awe of how you build stuff 😂 I have the EXACT same setup with my pool - tons of trees/greenery around it and proud to say I've mastered the art single handedly. First of all those stains on the bottom are algae buildup - you need to ask your pool guy to flush the pool with chlorine to remove it (let the chlorine sit on the bottom for a bit) and use some elbow grease with a pool brush (attached to the inlet suction pipe) to remove. To avoid it again in the future you need to keep the pool pump running MINIMUM 2 hours a day (better to aim for 4 in summer) and the key is to get a 'Kreepy Crawly' as they're called in South Africa (we pioneered the pool cleaning industry) which moves the water around, suctions HARD to pull the algae off, can climb stairs and the side walls and stays permanently in the pool. I know Henry looks fun but honestly that thing moves slow as hell and didn't clean nearly as well as the systems we have in South Africa. You can also set them up to run on a timer, just remember to check the filters DAILY (one by the pool weir, one by the pool pump). There's also a LIFE CHANGING device you can fit to the outlet pipe on the pool called a leaf skimmer which will remove the majority of debris floating on the top of the water when the pump is running meaning you have to clean the bottom way less frequently. Lastly, I shifted over to a salt water pool which means way less maintenance, less chemicals (you end up putting more chemicals in with vegetation falling in all the time - it causes algae). On the pump side - you need to 'Backwash' for 60 seconds or until the backwash water runs clear) once a week minimum which will clear your pump from sediment buildup, always followed by 'Rinse' (also 60 seconds or until the water runs clear) and then run the pool pump for the balance of the day on 'Filter'. Invest in a water testing kit - the one that has multiple readings on the strips is best so that you can keep an eye on the acidity, PH levels etc and adjust accordingly.

I am currently setting up a saltwater pool and can definitely say this is great advice as this is exactly what I have encountered in my research. 1. Keep pool free of debris and brush down sides regularly, plus vacuum. 2. Keep water chemistry balanced. 3. Shock or add additional salt and run on chlorinator after heavy use or rainstorms and your pool water should stay clean and healthy.👍

Our pool has an electric, retractable cover. Just flick a switch, and it opens and closes. We use a cover pump to keep the rain off of it. We just have to clean the cover periodicity. This reduces the debris in the pool and reduces the need for pool chemicals because there's less sun on the water. Thanks for another great video, MaCenna. 💜

Oh ya…… we have a expandable hose in our Sailboat ⛵️ and one in the front yard and backyard. They are great!! You should have a pool screen/cover put on your pool. Your insurance will be lower too because you have to have a password to open the cover. So if a person, child, or pet happened to get in your yard they could not get in your pool & drown or something horrible. Plus it keeps your pool nice and clean & safe 🤩. Love your chairs by the way!! :)

Everyone talking about their experience being the pool maintenance kid growing up. Man, I lasted for a month then I complained to my dad it was too hard and the acids/chemicals were burning my nostrils. He didn't have experience with pools either, so after my dad noticed the smells/burning of the nostrils, he immediately told me to stop cleaning and hired a pro pool guy. After we sold that house we told ourselves we would never own a pool again! Gosh it was fun, but it was HARD WORK. 😅

Pool should not have that much algae if being cleaned weekly by professional. For my pool I used Walmart pool supplies and they worked as well as the more expensive ones. Looks like you need to shock the pool and add chlorine tablets( unless you have a saltwater system). Also baking soda is ideal for ph and much cheaper. 😊

The arches are beautiful just as they are...no corbels needed, in my opinion. Since your aesthetic seems to be an unfussy French/European country style, the streamlined arches add just the right amount of "ooh-la-la" as they are. Even if you skim the leaves daily, you’re going to miss the small particles on the bottom. That vacuum will also scrub walls, which you (your pool guy) should do by hand occasionally as well (and the bottom too) to loosen up any growth or dirt and then run your vacuum.
Pools are a lot of work! It’s not difficult, just a lot. I know those robots are expensive, but that is a great investment, whether you have that much foliage or not.
For anyone new to pool ownership, I HIGHLY recommend “pool school” offered by Leslie’s Pool Supply. They will send someone out to your house to teach you how to use YOUR equipment. It was an invaluable learning experience when my family moved into a home with a pool, and gave me so much more confidence in maintaining the cleanliness but also being able to spot mechanical issues before they become expensive problems.
Little hint, if your pool is “bubbling,” turn off the equipment 😂 there’s probably something stuck in a filter.

The yellow/green looks like algae to me. We’ve only had a house with a pool for the last 2 years and when we had trouble with algae, the pool company handled it. If we were willing to buy a robot cleaner and check chemicals, etc., we wouldn’t need the weekly pool people. But we decided that being seniors who both worked hard all our lives, raised 3 children, are very un-mechanical, and are unused to pool care, we’d give ourselves the luxury of having someone else take care of it all.

Kinsley was the cutest ever peeking out from under her blankets🥰 The robot vacs are pretty awesome, my MIL has had one for several years and loves it. I love the garden hose! I have a nozzle like that but I need that hose😁 Excited for the next video/blog, watching you create those arches is just amazing!

I also have the same pool vacuum, the green stuff that doesn’t come up, I put a bag of shock in at night when no one is in the pool and the equipment is off. I wake up in the morning and it will be crystal clear.

I got a retractable Hoselink, which made my life so much easier!! I can't physically wrap a hose anymore, so a small pull and the hose goes straight back in the housing. The one your friend sent you is pretty sweet as well.

I was thinking the same thing. Do NOT do work like that standing on a chair. Use a utility ladder that holds balanced weight. I don’t think a broken hip is part of your future plans. I know of two people who fell while standing on a chair and each broke their hip when the chair collapsed.

As a gardener, I have had many clients buy those hoses and dispose of them in about a year. My recommendation through experience is to purchase a quality rubber hose, I have owned mine for 20 years. Two 50 foot hoses versus a 100 footer for easy handling.

I agree with most of these comments. Get a push broom for the bottom and a hand scrubber for around the tile. I wholeheartedly disagree with emptying the pool. That is an enormous amount of water waste. and most of the west is in a serious drought.

On the issue of the coffee table. When I moved into my first apartment (called a flat here in South Africa) I fell in love with a beautiful red lounge suite (I love colour). It consisted of two sofas, one side table and one coffee table - the two tables were square in shape. The tops were glass. I loved the aesthetic - the airiness of the tables. I had a pot plant on the side table, and various items on the coffee table - often including a pot of tea, a milk jug and cup and saucer. My brother's miniature Schanuzer dog loved to walk under the tables (crouching to do so) then stand up fully under the glass top. The glass would tip and anything on the table would either slide gently sideways or crash to the ground.

You can put those smokey smelling (or anything smelly I think) 2nd hand finds out in the sun for a few hours and the smell will disappear. Found an antique chair in the alley, and the owner said he didn’t want it because it smelled like smoke. I stuck it outside, and now it’s in my bedroom

    Lovely vlog!
We have a cover for our pool, it's like heavy duty bubble wrap! Ours isn't mounted on any kind of frame, we just pull it off and on and put it in the pool plant room (folded inside out) when we're using the pool. That'll keep the leaves out, and you can cut it to size so it's not offensively flapping around!

😍 awesome! One tip I have in case this helps you, my family has owned a pool cleaning business for decades. For your algae, its completely normal especially when you have all those beautiful trees. If you try algae shock, or algaecide, it should really help. Also your pool cleaner coming regularly will help. The algaecide helps to kill it, and then your tool can just vacuum it up. But i find we always battle the algae when it starts warming up and the plants start thriving 😂

Having dealt with the same problem for 15 years, I can tell you a few things. Some of the discolouration is from the tannins in the leaves, however it would be best to take a water sample to a pool expert and get advice about the best product to shock the water to get rid of it. Also, there are robotic leaf skimmers that float and pick up leaves. The thing we found was that if you collect them before they hit the bottom, they won’t stain the surface and cause all those problems. I would also invest in a good quality cover for autumn and winter as it will stop the problems with leaf build up when you’re not using it
