You may find that you really like having a second living room for now. When our kids were little we had an eat-in kitchen a formal dining room and a living room in our 100 year old craftsman bungalow. We turned our formal dining room into a family room. The living room became the place for music, no TV and no Legos. If you've ever stepped on one with bare feet you know how important that is. Once our kids were grown our family room became a formal dining room again.

My parents always had a formal living room and dining room for the grown ups while we were growing up. It was always kept neat and tidy for guests. But in our family room/ tv room you could tell children were living there. It might not seem like something you need right now but as you add children to your family you might find that extra “adult” chill space a breath of fresh air. 😊 It’s coming along beautifully!

Honestly, stripping wood work is awful. I know how it feels. I had to strip 140 years worth of paint off my door frames because the layers of paint had taken away the details of the original frames. It took me 4 weeks to do 3 door frames and went through so much chemical stripper. You’re doing way better than me!

You have truly transformed this room with great work on those beams and arches! Carefully studied to the smallest detail 👌 now that the arches are complete, why do I feel the wall on top of the fireplace needs some trim to match? Then a painting to center the rectangle trim? I guess it’s my imagination 😅 The green stone container might be for tea leaves? But I would use it to store fireplace matches by cutting them to size, or for my colored pencils on my desk maybe.

FYI the Brimfield Flea Market is in Massachusetts, not CT. They are having the next one in July from the 11th -116th, and then again in September 5-10th. I go every year and love it.

Please do an oversized mirror above the olive ateliers entry table with the lamps! It’ll reflect the gallery wall beautifully!

We have 2 reception rooms, one is our everyday sitting tv room and the other, we use when one wants to watch tv but the other wants to read. It’s nice to have a more calming space

When my husband's dad passed away they put his ashes in 3 different jars so they could scatter them different significant places. I'm guessing your jar is for that purpose. Maybe that's why the guy was so desperate to get rid of it.

I love your ideas! Have you considered leaving it as a seating area, just in case you need the other room as a playroom/ tv area for when you have children.

Hi MaCenna, love your videos! I think that green marble container could be a small Urn maybe for a pet. I know kinda yuck but I wanted to give my 2cents. 😊

I've never seen a cremation urn with a screw-on lid. They are sealed with a special adhesive. They sell these with the screw-on lids for loose tea or spices. Or you can purchase ones where the lid simply sits on top for use in the bathroom or on a dresser.

Hi Macenna, so the stone container is so pretty, you could put personalized tea bags that you can make yourself now that you have that beautiful garden; you put it on your coffee table or coffee/tea bar. I think the stone will keep the flavors and scents strong

I’m pretty sure you said you going to France in September? It’s the rugby World Cup in France in September. Best research as they play different places and will make things expensive and busy and best to avoid being in same cities at the same time

MaCenna I think you should do whatever trim you plan on doing on the wall by the stairs on the opposite wall (shared with the kitchen) as well! To add interest but without art since you want to do a gallery wall up the stairs!

I like the green container with the screw lid. It would be lovely with fireplace matches with with the part that you light going up out of it and then the lid beside it on top of a fireplace mantle. I think it would be look very nice. I always enjoy each of your blogs.
