Happy birthday!! I’m a professional framer and a great way to fix old frames is to make a mold out of epoxy sculpt or moldable silicon from the existing part of the moulding that is still intact, use mold release/Vaseline inside the mold you made, and use epoxy sculpt or plaster to fill the mold and glue the new piece on the frame. A little paint and patina will make it look like the damage was never there! That’s typically how we repair antique frames in our shop and it gives them a much longer life😊 love your videos💛

Hi, thank you for sharing this! can I ask what paint u use and what to use to patina? I have these 2 matching wooden gold gilt frames with some red paint showing through. I was thinking I could add gold leaf but I felt like it would look too bright. Perhaps there’s like a gold acrylic paint that would blend better.. thanks for ur time if ur able to answer!😅

      @cindyqueenofyou 11 месяцев назад +2

Yay! I came here to say this!! I do this with everything that I find that's damaged (not just frames) I've replaced hands on statues, etc.

    • @addisonamendola3541
      @addisonamendola3541 11 месяцев назад +5

@@andreypj3619 we use rub n buff or some watered down acrylic paint for the patina :) if there is red underneath it was definitely hand gilded, but if it has some patina to it then both of those options and some gold acrylic paint would help camouflage the repair! I would use a heavy bodied acrylic paint for the gold, definitely recommend bringing a picture of the frame to the store with you to try and find a good match as gold can vary in undertones

    • @MrLilbetter

@@ludovica1914 I believe it absolutely could work too! But I understand that Macenna is a very solo act, and it's in no shape or form shade, she did mention that, and we have to respect that it's ultimately up to her what she wants to do! But absolutely! SO MUCH overlap it would gorgeous to see what they could do together if that's conducive for what they both want

To fix that damaged frame you can make a mold from silicone caulk, the kind you use to caulk around the home. (video on RUclips naturally).
once you have the silicone mixed up, just roll it out like a fat sausage and then flatten it to a thickness which will encompass the molding on the opposite side. Let that set up and then fill it with plaster of paris. When it's dry. You have a replica to replace the missing part of the frame. (I found a video that said you can mix some white glue or Mod Poge into the plaster of paris to make it stronger and less crumbly) Mother youtube has never steered me wrong. LOL!🥰 Happy Birthday!

A product called Amazing is what you need to buy for recreating the missing pieces on the frames. It’s two of their products, one is Clay that you make a mold from other matching parts on the frame. After the mold drys, you use the other resin like product and pour into the mold. It hardens and turns white in 10 minutes. You can even cut with a scissors for a few minutes before it hardens. However, you will need to paint the pieces to match the frames. I did this on a dresser with missing fretwork and it turned out beautifully. Love your talent, your sweet personality and keep up the good vlogs!

I feel like Macenna is going to be a real taste maker one day. I have been following her for a while so I just noticed how much her audience grew.
I always notice that her taste isn't always exactly what is currently most popular. This is kind of what makes me think she's going to keep growing and be as influential as the designers on HGTV network in the early 2010's.

Store bought fruits often have a thin wax coating to make them prettier and last longer. That's why it's shiny.
Fruit trees needs fertiliser and pruning to give a good fruit harvest. You're so good at research so you can properly find the best method for your trees online.

    Hi MaCenna,
I have been following your channel for the past couple of years and watching your confidence and projects grow with you in that time has been honestly exhilarating. There have been a few moments when I have straight-up cheered at my laptop screen (when you dragged your bathtub across the cottage by yourself, when you got the stain right in the living room, when the bookshelves were finished with the face frame all around, when you finished stripping the beams). I got so used to watching you every day during Vlogmas last year that during your break in January, I revisited a few early cottage videos and was just blown away by how much you have really achieved. I admire your can-do attitude but I’m also glad that you allow yourself the time to recover-I always prefer quality over quantity and I know you do too. The relationship you have with your mom feels a lot like mine with my mom, so that always feels comforting and nice as well. The most recent podcast episode about being underestimated by men was my favorite so far.
I turned 32 a couple of weeks ago, so happy belated birthday to us both. Thanks for making me feel like I can take risks and try anything. I’m so excited to watch your beautiful new California house grow with you and am mighty jealous of the brick floors. Can’t wait for the kitchen reno (and the planning episode was delightful!). I’m glad you were able to do so much to the formal living room that the icy rug disappeared. Sometimes stuff just works out that way.
Rooting for you from Seattle. I would have put my bed downstairs too.
    XO,
    Maggie

Your house is so beautiful and is coming together so nicely. I love the idea of the reading nook next to your desk! I think a chair with some color or a pattern to make it a distinct zone separate from the rest of the room would work.
By the way, Alison Roman when she was at New York Times Cooking had a video about how to preserve lemons in jars. May be worth looking into. You can make fresh squeezed lemonade, too, which is so refreshing in the summer.

MaCenna, you can replace the dental moulding easily by making a silicone mold of other side, then pour resin cast. The hobby stores sell kits to do this, but they can be pricey. You can make your own silicone mould by using 100% silicone caulking from hardware store. You can find the recipe online or on RUclips.😊

I believe the four glasses that you purchased at the flea market are Candlewick. It was made from 1936 to 1984 by the Imperial Glass Company. Not to be confused with Boopie glassware where the glass beads are closer together. The closer spaced glass beading on an item is Candlewick's signature.

You could do an air dry clay (the foamy flexible stuff) impression of the detail in your picture frame on the side that isn’t damaged then use that as a mould to make a matching piece in resin or hot glue. Really simple and you can’t tell once you paint it to match.

About the lemons YES they do sometimes put vegetable wax on fruits and veg too. That's why you always should wash/rinse your produce. Trying to buy organic is good but not always possible.

Happy Birthday! 😊 it's so amazing to see you pick up the Keiller's Dundee marmalade jars. Dundee is only a 30-minute drive from my hometown. It's meant to happen with these things, but it's still so strange seeing you with a bit of Scottish history so close to me, all the way over there. Amazing ❤

I'm from Newcastle upon Tyne and have lived in Alberta Canada since 1967. I recognised the marmalade pots immediately and it's nice that those travelled so far from home. 😊💕

Aside from all the superstition about blowing out candles, snuffing is actually better for the candle because wax isn't blown around and doesn't get on the wick plus snuffing almost eliminates smoke, therefore a cleaner environment.
    Happy Birthday, btw. 🎉

Maybe the frame where the molding is missing you can rotate it so the missing pieces are on top and then hang it high so you don't see the top easily? Such a beautiful frame!

I really like the chair from your modular set best. The whole matchy chair thing isn’t very French. You already have a sofa and two matching chairs in the front room. Take your time to add an additional chair. I think it needs to be a darker tone of leather or a French print. Just my opinion. Hope it gives you ideas. Cheers

    Happy Birthday !
Heres a hint for you pic with missing edga...
Use clay to make a mold of the edge from a good part of frame.
Then pour plaster of paris . Before the clay hardens you should be able to pop out the plaster . Let it dry then glue it to you missing spot ..paint it ..your good at matching ..and tada. Your done. . Hope this helps you . ❤

If you use the sniffer, you won’t have dripping wax on your furniture when you blow.

To ensure maximum lemon yield, you need to prune your lemon tree each year, fertilise regularly when flowering, and pick lemons as soon as they are ready - the more you pick, the more will grow! But definitely research pruning and fertilising. You will notice a major difference in yield if you do those things.

    Hi Macenna, Happy Birthday!!!
    Idea for you frame fix
Use hot glue on a part of the frame that's good. Use a good amount. Let cool a bit but still slightly warm, peel off. Bam, you have a mold!!!
