Just a few tricks,,,Try using 3M removable hooks and floral wire for holding your garland to the mantle. Also using solid ornaments on the inner part of your tree will add dimension and fill in any gaps… reflects your lights as well. Love the moody vibes in your choices.
There are no hard and fast rules to hanging ornaments. However, design experts tend to begin with larger ones. They tuck them deeper within the foliage to add depth. As a result, they achieve a beautiful, layered look. On the other hand, smaller ornaments look best when hung on the tips of the branches. Designers do this to create a draping effect. Just sharing ideas in a safe space…there is no wrong or right way to decorate a tree. As long as it brings you and your family joy.
The decorations look awesome😊 Just one thing, I’m struggling to read the italic writing you used in the last two videos, it goes to fast and it’s so small!
Yes! That, and the ‘thumbnails’. They’re small to begin with, then she makes its a combination of 3 different pictures…I can never quite tell what they are. 😂
Beautiful 🎄I’m stage 4 cancer and the treatments have literally knocked me off of my feet. So I guess my stuff will sit in a box this year. So thank you, a million times over THANK YOU for sharing yours. The mantle and tree are breathtaking.
If you are going for Victorian, your tree would look extra special with some battery operated, remote included, clip-on candles. They have them on the zon, they are very realistic, and would add a lovely touch.
Beautiful. I’m stage 4 cancer and the treatments have literally knocked me off of my feet. I love watching what you’ve put together. I guess mine will be sitting in the box this year but thank you for sharing yours. A million times over, THANK YOU
You can fill the iron tree base with cut pieces of wood (2x4) and drill a hole in it to accept the metal rod of your tree. You can even use the screw pieces to keep it steady.
I hope I word this in a way that is the compliment I intend it to be. I went back and watched your early content and it was like your light was turned down. You were offering glass beads when you are a diamond. At some point you stopped dimming and your content elevated to diamonds. Your currency is so high I’m not even sure you are fully aware of how high yet. I can’t wait to watch you turn that light up more and more as you come even further into your own. I’m so glad you started to share all those diamonds you have in you. You are bringing such beauty, comfort, joy and inspiration into the world just by being you. I’m so grateful that you are putting all that out there to share.
If you wanted to use the new trees stand, cut a wood block the dimensions of the stand opening, and then drill out a hole in the center that will fit the tree base. Then you can have your victorian looking base with your faux tree.
Absolutely love the black fireplace and lamp shades . The mantel styling is gorgeous. The paper trees with the brass bells are a match made in heaven! Can't wait to try one of your candles. I am really partial to the Christmas scents.
If you need your fresh cut garland to hang a certain way, try using bonsai wire. Bonsai wire is meant to bend and manipulate the branches or small saplings, so it only makes sense to use it on garland. I hope this helps.
Add a pvc pipe to your tree stand! Then you can set the tree base in the pipe! I’ve also done a few pipes like Russian nesting dolls. I have the same tree base. I do this for real trees too so the bolts don’t scrape up the bark too much.
Tree look warm and cozy! Wouldve love to see another stab at some tinsels again to emulate icicles😆 don’t love the mantle so much, looks messy and random but maybe swag it in the middle to create a more focal kind of crown piece cleaner look.
You have inspired me to find my hidden passion decorating my own home with thrifted finds and antiques galore!Making my home feel “homey” was always my goal just didn’t know what my style was till I found you! Thanks for the inspiration macenna! ❤
I live for this time of the year! Not the actual Christmas Day but the build up to it. It makes me so happy! I love what you’ve done. So nostalgic and welcoming. Can’t wait to see what you do outside. Hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas. 🎄
It was a tradition in our home to not decorate until first advent and the Christmas tree went up on the 23rd but this year I decided to decorate early. The lights and colours bring me joy in a very gray november. Looking forward to more Christmas content!
@caesar98 Haha, you're sharp! I am part Danish, and that is definitely where the spelling comes from. :) My family is Catholic, so the Advent Season is one of expectation of the coming of the Christ Child on Christmas! It's always an epic build-up for us, making small sacrifices throughout the 4 weeks and lighting a new candle on the wreath each Sunday leading up to Christmas! I plan to keep all those traditions like the Jesse Tree and advent wreath with my children, but since my baby isn't due til spring and this November feels extra dreary, I'm breaking that tradition a little this year haha (I always understood it was a Catholic tradition to wait, but that may have stemmed from Denmark/other countries or cultures... I'm not sure! :) )
Hi MaCenna, I can never read the white script on the screen. I would be so grateful if you would make it bigger and keep it on the screen a bit longer. Lovely video though. I always love your videos.
I love your vintage style, I appreciate your ideas are not straight out a store but instead personalized. I will be copying your ideas. Congratulations on your candles 😊
I sorry MaCenna, I have a different taste than most I guess because the mantle looks...messy to my eye >_< I love the natural elements you brought into the garland as well as the bells and the silk ribbons. They look lovely. But the swag...I just...I don't know. And the elements on the tree blend on too much with the dark green. Can barely see them on camera 😅 I loved hanging out with you on RUclips, though, and I love your vlogmas the best! I cannot wait!!
You could still use the iron tree stand! Place the tree inside, and fill the stand with medium sized round stones. The weight of the stones will keep the tree up. I used to do this with a bucket to hold my live trees up - it also allowed me to water it.
Hi Macenna Idk if you checked out beeswax and coconut wax blend for your candles, these are better then soy, beeswax is more solid and harder then soy and coconut wax holds fragrance longer, is sub stainable and high yield I burn those at home and love them....just wanted to share 🙂
I love that you were able to bring your candles to life. Unfortunately, with the economy a $50 candle is not in the cards right now. But I do wish you continued success! Love your channel!
Woooww Macenna. You saw an opportunity to decorate your new house/mantle for Christmas and YOU TOOK IT! It looks sooooo magical, beautiful, intentional, cozy and Christmassy. I am in love! Dreaming of the day I own a house to fully decorate like you as well
My favorite local candle maker uses 2 types of vessels: heavy rocks glasses and black glass jars with bamboo lids. I love them. Reusable vessels are definitely the way to go!
Instead of the plastic pearls, be on the look out for antique/vintage mercury glass bead strands. They came in all the jewel tones you are looking for.
This is the kind of videos I like when you decorate and explain as you go. When you cut down the birch save some of those logs to decorate with!! They are like hens teeth around here (hard to come by)! In the Mountains of Western North Carolina!!!
I was In Kmart in regional Australia Victoria and saw candles that were so similar to your vessels and were so similar in scent! They were obviously cheap scents ect but I was spewing thinking omg they are so similar!
I was so excited to decorate that I began in the middle of November. It's been a lot of fun to move items around until they were just right. The jewel tones with gold are so pretty in your living room. Love your mantel with its highs and lows; with bells, ribbon, bottle brush trees, and candlelight. Just delightful to the eyes!
My husband and I have had a BAD cold for three weeks. I'm finally feeling a bit better. Although I've noticed him sniffling. He's caught another cold. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF 🤧🤒
I am so happy that you have kept color as part of your decor. so many design influencers are doing brown and neutrals. I think we miss out on the beauty and fun when everything is brown and beige.
WHAT. It looks like some giant mythical SPIDER came along in the night and wove pure MAGIC onto your mantle. That is so magnificent. I just love the asymmetry! BEAUTIFUL.
I love so much of what you do and the tree was good... the mantle... I say this with love... I feel you may take second look at. Thank you so much for everything you do and put out. I just got one of your candles and I can't wait to smell it!!! You're a queen!
Yay it's Christmas time when MaCenna and Romeo decorate..I live in Northern Maine and we are getting ready for a snowstorm tonight into tomorrow..Love this
I completely understand a you mean about procrastinating getting started on a project due to overthinking it. I find I do the exact same thing and then sometimes I run out of time to actually get it done. Then I end up being absolutely furious with myself. You’re so right though, just start it somewhere and adjust as you go along.
The view of the tree from the stairs makes me so excited for you and Romeo to have a child one day. I can just picture a kid running down the stairs to the view of the tree and presents under it on Christmas Day!
i love the pearls for a victorian tree. You should still add them. They don’t make the tree girly. Love everything especially the fireplace mantle . Wish i had one to decorate.
Next year, get some pieces of wood to put around the base of the tree where the pegs are to fill in the gap with someone light & sturdy. Boom. You can use that beautiful tree base! ☺️

Okay! I think you may totally relate to this… This is the first christmas in my new house, which, like you, I have gained quite a bit of house, so when I went to decorate this weekend I found myself stressed and procrastinating too but then realized, it’s because it’s the first time in the new house and I don’t know where I want or like things yet! How many years did we decorate our old houses… we had it down! Anyways, I think that’s probably why we struggled to get started this year 🤪 Everything looks so beautiful! I’m definitely adding bows to my tree after seeing yours 🥰
We can’t wait to get our candles. The silk drapee bows are like the ones Lone Fox did on his tree 😊. The mantle was a little of a hot mess but you always come through. Lets see the next video Ty.
You can use that fab tree stand. Cut a short (6 to 10 inch) log that will fit into the stand. Then drill a hole in the center and stick the skinny tree base into the log. Voila
It would be wonderful if you could make the font of the words you put on the screen a bit larger. Between the small size & the font, I cannot read what is written. Of course, I pause the video to zoom in, but I thought I would make this suggestion, in case others have the same issue. Thank you! 😊
Exquisite! The tree and mantle are just so beautiful and of course my favorite ornament is Kinsley♥️. People will be blown away walking into your front room.🎄✨
I have an antique cast iron tree stand. The secret is to get an artificial tree with a wood trunk, not the skinny metal trunk most have. Not always easy to find but worth it!! I’ve used my stand for over 30 yrs!!
Michael’s has beautiful red velvet ornaments. I bought them and used rub and buff to antique the gold top. Also try Command cord holder for your mantle garland I saw Hanna Naylor use them in her RUclips decorate video. Everything is beautiful. ❤
Here’s my trick for the beaded garland (pearl). I use ornament hooks to drape the garland for absolute perfect symmetry around the tree. Try it, you will love it!
Love your Christmas decor, looks warm and cozy! I have the same cast iron tree stand and we just put chunks of wood inside it to help hold smaller trunk trees. In the summer, it holds my deck umbrella.
Obsessed with the jewel tones this year! Last year I did Victorian with mixed metals, especially warm metals, rose gold bead garland, and dried orange slices. Love this idea of adding color this year because I've been wanting the same! Can't wait to see how the rest of your space transforms for Christmas!
Just a few tricks,,,Try using 3M removable hooks and floral wire for holding your garland to the mantle. Also using solid ornaments on the inner part of your tree will add dimension and fill in any gaps… reflects your lights as well. Love the moody vibes in your choices.
Green pipe cleaners work great as well to hold pieces in place.

I love this idea, she could even use a log and drill a hole in the middle of that so that it looked that it was part of the actual tree!
I mean this in a loving way. I had an uncle who would put tinsel on the Christmas tree one strand of tinsel at a time. The trees came out gorgeous.
I put ti sel on o e strand at a time. My sister stood back and THREW several strands on the tree. Cracked me up.
I use to do that too! It was beautiful.
My momma did too way back in the 50's and 60's. Thrown tinsel is a hugh faux pas!
THE KINSLEY ORNAMENT!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
