As a photographer myself, I loved that you actually incorporated photography as decor. I think finding the right photographer and photography style, photos can be part of the decor and completely personalizes a room. Love that it’s you and Romeo.

I love using photos I took to decorate with. Framing or having canvases made. They look beautiful to me and I enjoy the memories as well as great pricing. It looks beautiful MaCenna, just like all your work. Love watching Kinsley play on the beds every time you put on the sheets. It’s so cute!

Kinsley is such a good helper, especially when making the bed. She oversees everything.
Great moody bedroom! As a former rug designer and colourist, I noticed the white, looked like thread bare areas, in the beautiful rug you purchased. You could get a fabric dye or coffee dye and dab those areas with a sponge to soften and blend the colours so there is not such a contrast. This will not hurt the rug in any way. It is nice to see a designer willing to experiment with colour, still keeping everything soft, calming, and neutral. Good job.
I find myself laughing when people buy brand new "distressed" rugs, trying to achieve the look that Macenna's rug in the bedroom has naturally. The most wonderful rug I ever owned was a huge one we found in the trash, clearly high quality and very worn. It was gorgeous! That was 40 years ago before "distressed" was in. Sadly lost it in a divorce.
@@TamarLitvot Where I live its very hard to find an old rug that is good quality without paying a fortune! She is lucky to have found this a at a flea market but I bet she didnt pay flea market $

Always some dark colors in my homes with prints, plaids , stripes etc.
Dash of Pepper on the walls was the right answer!! The warmth it brings?! Just WOW. And I can't get over that dresser find, what a BEAUTY. Thats a "pass down through generations" piece. You have outdone yourself once again. Coming home to this after a long day would be like walking into a warm, well dressed hug.😅😊
Romeo offering you that oreo while you were building the bed together is just the epitome of everything I want for myself in the future! And your eye for detail is just amazing, like that final touch of the books in the window and switching out the knobs on the nightstands. This room turned out so lovely!

As a person who works in an art gallery, the standard for hanging art on the wall is between 57"- 60" to the middle of the piece. For example, if you have artwork that is 20" long, hang the piece so that the top sits between 67" and 70" high on the wall. It'll look great every time - not too low, not too high!
So cozy. So gorgeous. SO MOODY! One of my favourite spaces you’ve done - I think the minimal decor and furniture means being so much more purposeful than you already are and you seriously nailed it.
Okay but imagine beautiful dark (maybe velvet) floor to ceiling curtains behind the bed across those 3 windows what a vibe that would be 🔥🔥
I’m glad you left the doors and windows white otherwise it would have been too dark I think. That way it’s the perfect balance in my opinion. Love this ❤
I totally agree!! I was worried about it at first, but once I started to bring the furniture in and it had a lighter color palette, the white totally looked so good
@@XOMaCennaI could see a tan or medium-to dark-beige color SO good where the white is!! It just popped up in my mind as I watched your video. I think the white is just too contrasting, to me personally. HOWEVER, it gives me sort of a nice Cape Cod getaway kind of feeling. .. which never hurts :) ♡♡♡

Okay, this confirms I need a moody styled bedroom😆! That paint color is 🔥🔥🔥and I love that you kept the room soft with the other neutral colors for decor, it adds a nice balance and airiness to the room and really makes it cozy as intended, well done!

The bed seems kind of beachy in this setting. Otherwise the room is stunning and reminds me of the beautiful entryway in the cottage. I also like the chair by the doors and the brass knob on the dressers, with the brass lamp and I obviously love the books by the window! But the bed frame doesn’t do it for me, I must admit. I also would have colour drenched all the fixtures and outlets. The moulding looks great and yes, that painting is transformed next to those greens! It’s like it was freshly polished, the greens of the painting pop much more now. I didn’t think I’d like the dresser, I thought I’d be too light, but it looks really good, especially with that mirror and the organic vase and the styling items on top. The rug was the perfect choice, its edged almost melt into the brick in such a special and organic way. But the bed does not do it justice. I’m not saying the concept of it is bad, I see the idea, but the lines aren’t aligned and too sparse, it’s more preppy beachy than light yet moody delicate vintage striped. It doesn’t feel elevated in this room, and since it is basically the star of the room, I genuinely hope that one day you’ll come across a bed frame that is just as beautiful as the dresser and genuinely is worthy of being in this cozy almost-library bedroom.

I love the headboard, the whole room looks beautiful. But, the stripes not matching up got my OCD in a panic. Other than that I would have my bedroom just like yours. Beautiful heart full work.
@@Silviamattos777Right?! It was stressing me out. And in terms of upholstery it even has lines that don’t go straight but are a bit pulled to different sides. I liked the idea of the shape of the headboard and the concept of stripes against the vintage floral rug and the idea of a lighter frame, but the execution was thwarted by the quality of this bed frame itself. I still think the idea is the right one!

I did Dutch boy Midnight blue in our laundry room with grayish/brown vinyl wood look flooring with white trim and cupboards. I Love it!!

I think if you colour drench the windows and doors it would be just ughh so ❤ beautiful. Or maybe the same tone as your dresser. The white seems a little stark compared to the rest of your super calming, moody space.

Love your bedroom, the dark color makes it so relaxing. My family room is a dark greenish blue, has white plantation shutters on 3 walls of windows. Every one told me it was too dark, now all agree it is perfect. I have colors painted throughout my home, all with a blue base except 1 guest bedroom and master suite.

As a dark and moody lover, I love that you went this dark in your bedroom. It's good to see something different to a lot of other channels that just do light neutrals. Dash of pepper was my favourite. I have dark forest green in my kitchen and utility room and one wall of dark blue in my bedroom, but want to do green colour drench in my living and dining rooms. We actually have a very simillar color in our bedroom. I love it, especially since the nights are very light here in the summer and it feels really cozy.

I liked it before it looks very nice with a lot of light but after the make over you just gave that room so much personality i wouldnt want to get up in the morning looks so cozy warm and soothing .
The only thing it’s missing as a vintage cozy library is a well-worn leather chair (and possibly some stained or colored glass) ❤️ What a lovely and inviting oasis!

Hmm, all the designers I've watched lay the rug in the other direction, that way when exiting to bed, your feet hit the rug not the floor. That's how I have mine. I personally think it looks more pleasing. Just a thought.
She said she is laying the way it is due to the room shape. There isn’t room to lay the other way.

Honestly, this is my favorite room makeover you have ever done, in terms of no full renovation. I absolutely love what you've done to update the bedroom and the en suite. I think I may be sad if you change it all during the future renovation planned! Phenomenal job girly. Also- I just received my candle and it's beautiful in every way. I am saving it to burn after the New Year, but just respect so much the thought and work that went into creating such a product. Please let yourself feel proud. You should.

I don’t mean to be negative in anyway but I wonder why the paint or stain never meets the ceiling color? Every room where a beam has been refinished there are so many places that look like they missed the paint or stain, like it’s unfinished.
I thought the same thing,where the beam meets the ceiling needs a little touch up with a tiny brush.

The horse head bookends are from Mexico and made of onyx. You will find them in practically every market and shop. I bought a pair in Laredo or Matamoros 30 or so years ago. They may be common, but I like them.
