In 1973 when I was expecting my first child, I found a beautiful wood rocker. We were just starting out and it was out of our price range but my husband worked extra hours to get it 31:18 for me. I also would sit in it before she was born and just look at the nursery. Years later I bought a small brass plaque engraved with the date I received it and attached it to the bottom rocker. I gave the rocker to my daughter when she was expecting her first child! Your nursery is lovely!

Old & things where so much simpler. Some times I wish it was back to being like that. The best times in my life I had very little. I made a baby dress out of scraps of fabric. I sewed togather to even have enough. And it was a treadle machine. You had to pump to make it run. With your feet. After all that, because you rarely had a ulta sound. He was a little boy. But one dress wasn't going to really work our anyways. My greatest joy when pregnant besides the joy of having a baby. Was a couple of real maternity outfits. i LOVE the vibe but honestly wish you would give over to the idea of giving them the whole room! it would resolve all the worries about space and you would have so much room to play with and to have babies things (they take up a lot of space for such small people!)
I totally hear you & maybe that’s what they’ll end up doing, but our baby’s designated space is a little smaller than this in our room. he’s almost 5 months & it’s been working just fine so far!

I've watched you for about 3 years now. You have inspired me to tackle so many projects on my own. I'm doing a total bathroom remodel at the moment. Got a little teary hearing you decide where to put the North Star and the big and Little Dipper for when he arrives, summer. And Romeo expressing how much he loves the process. Extremely sweet!!!🥰🥰
SO beautiful! 😭 Other useful additions: hamper, diaper bucket/genie, bookshelf for bedtime stories, changing table ❤️ Consider a cozy spot to nest a sound machine as well. You’ll have more things than you know what to do with after your baby shower! 💕
She for sure needs a small table near the chair to put feeding/ nursing things into and to put waterbottles on. Gotta have somewhere for the more messy practical things to go!
Covering the moon cord was a great idea, and you'll likely have zero problems while he's an infant. However, if he's anything like our son, his little fingers will pull at that small exposed area of cord. Perhaps you could run the cord horizontally above the beadboard (with a cover) away from the crib? Just remember that anything those little fingers can explore, they will! Beautiful, dreamy space for your baby, and we wish you every happiness!
Agreed - that cord *will* become a problem. The kid will also be flipping it on and off all the time, too. I think running it along the edge toward the chair is a better idea.
I would say once he's big enough to start to pull himself up, I'd remove the ladder and just move the moon over to that side of the space. It will still look cute and be off center, but he won't be able to reach it. Unless he's a crib-scoocher, of course...my friend's son would scooch his crib across the floor and she'd find him in odd places until she bought rubber things that look like flat cups to put the legs of the crib in. They're actually made to protect floors from damage from furniture. That kept it in its place! 😂
Love is hand painting a thousand tiny stars on the ceiling of your child’s nursery ❤ the room looks beautiful MaCenna, you and Romeo have done such a great job!
MaCenna, when you said you wanted to sit there before the baby came it reminded me of when I was expecting my first. We had no money, but we were given a new crib and a bentwood rocker. We painted the room and put in a carpet remnant and some blue curtains from JCPenney. I made a little quilt with puppies on it. I loved sitting in there at night, pregnant and dreaming about my new baby. Treasure this time; it's so wonderful. Your nursery looks beautiful.
Stunning, love the crib, the colour combo is great and the curtains are a great addition. I’d suggest having a small table beside your chair, for water to drink while feeding.
And to hold her kindle...😊 I know she mentioned a stool, but it really needs to be table height IMO. If you're trying to nurse, etc, you just want to reach out and grab what you want without leaning and stretching around.
You could use the connected guest bedroom as your temporary bedroom to get more use out of the nursery and make it more accessible whilst he’s small. Either way do what feels right and great work 👏🏻
Adorable! You are probably going to want a small side table by the chair, you will be surprised how often you will need it!! Can even be a cute little cart that can hold extra supplies like tissues, burp cloths, sound machine (which is a Godsend) etc. Also, if you want any tiny shooting stars, place a dot with your paint pen and then quickly and lightly swipe it with your pinkie finger, that way it's not too much pressure and won't make a smudge. You can hide extra diapers and supplies in a trunk at the end of the guest bed, too. Good luck with your hunt for the right dresser!!
MaCenna, be sure to look at all of the "Phases of the Moon" home decor pieces from Mr. Kate! They had a recent video showing their 'moon' end tables, peel & stick decal set, etc; but what really made me think of you is a lovely quilt for the guest bed that comes in multiple monochromatic color ways. Since the actual quilting is a chart of the 'phases', it results in a sophisticated but still unique design to tie the entire room together. Your paint color, bead board & small details are absolutely precious for the most important 'project' you will ever create 🥰! Sending hugs, love & prayers for continued health, energy & unbridled joy through your 3rd trimester 🙏🏻💜!
This turned out absolutely magical. Everything goes together so perfectly. I can’t wait for your Mom to see it in person. You and Romeo did a wonderful job. Love it❣️
Oh man, this is bringing me back 20 years to when my husband and I painted and decorated for our first baby. Such a special time. And this room is STUNNING🥰🥰🥰
Mom since 1994 - buy the ottoman for the rocker, darker shades help baby sleep a bit longer. Floor lamp vs table lamp. Small side table for your pump and for a surface holding a cup of whatever you are drinking. if there’s storage in it even better (blanket, burp rag, other feeding accessories). Don’t get too caught up in a changing table for a dresser. Any flat surface is good for baby. The height is based on your height and comfort bc you don’t want to bend over too far. Baby will eventually be able to grab anything within reach of his crib (moon light switch/cord, the shades, anything on the dresser if it’s close enough). bolt the dresser to the wall and any bookshelves bc they will climb them - had a boy and girl and they were both climbers. This room is beautiful and this baby has won the mommy/daddy lottery!! OH one last thing maybe paint whatever constellation is in the sky the day he’s born but that will have to wait of course 😊😊
If you had to get a smaller dresser anyway, I would have kept the original layout. Having both the crib and the chair on the back wall gives it an even more stage-like appearance.
Looks lovely! You'll need something for your coffee cup, or water while you're rocking. So a stool, or small table with another light. Also a way to see to read to him.
There's just enough room for a pretty smallish brass floor lamp behind the chair. Since there's not a lot of space, the table will need to be on the small side and a lamp would take up so much room. Vintage would be lovely, if it could be found, but i'd definitely buy dimmable bulbs with a remote so it could be dimmed, etc without having to get up and mess around with the lamp.
The curtains might be my favorite part, which I didn't expect at all lol - I don't know, it's almost like the effect of the drapes on a canopy bed, it just instantly made the space feel cozy and warm and safe, without being fussy or princess-y because of the simplicity of the fabric. Just love it so much. The whole room is coming together beautifully💜
completely agree, they made such a massive difference zoning off the space and helping it feel protected and secluded rather than exposed, a bit of extra feng shui
Love the styling so far. I also understand that this is your/their life. However, if it was me, I would just make the rest of the room the master bedroom for when the baby is little and you want to have them always beside you. Give up the downstairs master for a guest for now until you want that time apart. As I said, it's your life. Looks very sweet. Good luck with everything
From a mom to a mom: I love all this! But I do think it will feel cramped as he starts to grow. I think a great idea would be to make the WHOLE room continued as this. And then, in the nook where you currently have the “nursery” put an adult bed that can pull out for double bed for multiple guests while still taking advantage of the bigger space for baby boy. You will need it. Trust me 🥹 Stunning design!! Just do it in the entire room!!!
For the first five months you can enjoy this romantic room with all the “baby hazards”, but that’s the sweet part of being up in the middle of the night with your baby boy. Soft, soothing beauty and wonder. Both you and Romeo will love rocking baby back to sleep.
just being realisitc - if the room is feeling tight now and you haven't even brought in any toys, clothes, etc, its not going to be functional after even a few months. it's more important to make the room work for those living in the house - i'd recommend removing the guest bed and putting in a sofa bed -either in this room or the living room. just being realistic, babys may be small but they do require a lot of storage, and within a few months are going to start needing toys. the room conor that doesnt have a closet and can barely fit 3 pieces of furniture is not going to work
The nursery is turning to one of the most beautiful places for your little boy to grow up into. The curtains add such a cozy touch to the nursery. All of the time you are spending in creating the galaxy 🌌 is just gorgeous. You could also try using a sponge to get the galaxy effect! I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.♥️❤️♥️
It looks so pretty, and honestly you don't need that much furniture to begin with. When my son was born I had a crib and a dresser and I think that was it. I never used to use a changing table I had a mat on the floor and that worked well for us. It's so beautiful watching Romeo preparing for his son to be born and getting invested in the space ❤
I've always thought that changing tables must be awkward anyway because you have to do everything with your baby positioned sideways? Unless it's positioned in a way/place that you can do it more straightforwardly
This just gives me all the “first new baby” feels 🥹❤️ it’s such a special time when it’s just you and your significant other excitingly waiting and preparing for your first baby. I’m a mom of four now and even though each time it’s so special, there’s nothing like the very first time. I wish I could go back and relive it sometimes. I’m so excited for you! I’ve loved watching your videos especially as I’ve rocked my babies at night. There’s something so calming and therapeutic watching you create. ❤
Very cute nursery, love the addition of the curtains! ✨ Must haves.. advice you never asked for 😉 a small nightstand with drawers or little baskets next to chair, all the little things needed for baby, that you don’t want to get up to get, lumbar pillow and the Ottoman - definitely! (Top railing bumper when the baby stands and is teething ) So fun seeing you and Romeo working on this together! Great job little Mama!
@@sarahlazzarotto4274 to clarify, I was Not speaking of crib bumpers, I am talking about protecting the rail where the baby would be standing and mouthing the top of the railing, their crib looks to be a metal.. so to protect new teeth.
It was so satisfying to see the transformation unfold! The use of vintage elements and thoughtful design choices made the room feel warm and inviting, perfect for a little one. I especially appreciated the practical tips shared throughout the video.
I absolutely love the nursery. It so original and unique. It’s refreshing seeing a nursery that isn’t the same old same old ones you always see. The vintage touches make it absolutely perfect! Love your way of thinking and creating masterpieces. 👍🏻
I have been [im]patiently waiting for this video all day! So excited for you and Romeo! This nursery is precious ❤️ Seeing not only the time and effort that went into this space, but also the thought in placement of the stars and every element made it that much more purposeful. Baby boy will adore this when he looks back at this video someday.
Macenna, watching you and Romeo putting together your son's nursery is so heartfelt. How beautiful that your son has two amazing parents! Such a joy to watch!
I love having Romeo in the videos now! He adds an element of humor, plus I love how supportive you both are to each others separate interests. You are a great couple!
So Sweet! It is a great space MaCenna and Romeo. The configuration is similar to my son's nursery 30 years ago. I have a suggestion. You will be reading to him in that chair before you know it. . Think about a shelf or a basket or a small book cabinet for next to the chair. Well before he can talk he will reach to request the book he wants . That time will be here in a blink of an eye. Enjoy ❤
I loved the crib between the windows both for the visual balance and... windows get very cold and drafty at night next to the baby. The area rug looks great with the dark wall color .
I'm old but back in the day sprinkling dots on painted furniture was a common DIY. We dipped a tooth brush in paint and pulled back on the bristles and it flung a million dots of different sizes.
Got very emotional watching this one. Been following you since the beginning, and it’s not only one of the most beautiful spaces you’ve ever created, it’s also for this entirely new chapter. Proud and inspired xx
As I watch you and Romeo decorate the nursery, I can't help but smile as you work together to bring the vision you have for Baby Romeo's nursery to life! The nursery is beautiful! 💙🩵💙🩵💙
If you put the narrow end of the crib next to the wall instead of the long side, you can put your crib on the back wall, with room beside the right side of the bed for your rocker, and put the dresser on your left wall. Plenty of space, and still room for the ladder and moon.
SO DREAMY AND COZY! I think a dresser might clash with the crib (you can always change the baby on the bed) and instead maybe add a 3 tier rolling cart where you can put diapers and necessities! Or if you want to match the vibes more find a 3 tier basket shelf and add diapers, wipes etc there. Love it and I know you're going to make it work!
I agree. Forget the changing table. Just a little storage thing is more useful. They get so active so quickly, I never felt like they were safe. Just use the big bed for that.
Looks so great! The thing I think would make it more magical, I keep picturing in my head is an antique bear balancing on the upper part of the ladder holding the twinkle lights in one paw dangling down along the wall. Just an idea that I keep thinking would look so cute. Such a lucky baby boy!
Just watching mom and dad doing everything with their own two hands down to every little tiny stars, to make it special for their sons arrival… such a beautiful and sweet video to watch.
I just had a vision of you renovating your son’s room down the road when he’s 5,10,15 etc etc and it just gave me all the warm and fuzzies. I’m so happy for you and Romeo ❤
Such a blessed baby boy! 💙 That crib is everything…. Absolutely stunning!!!! And the moon light was exactly what that wall needed. Can’t wait to see the final touches. I think the addition of the curtains really makes the space a real moment!
I love that you carried the galaxy wall over to the ceiling. I saw someone recently do a sky mural with clouds on their nursery ceiling and ever since then I'm obsessed with ceiling murals. This looks so sweet
I always love all of your designs but this is my favorite. There is just so much emotion that goes with this one. What a lucky little boy he is to have such a wonderful room and loving parents. Just love it!!!
I’ve been checking RUclips literally all day waiting for this! There was something so special about watching you and Romeo do this together, I mean I know he always helps you whenever you need it but this just had my heart ready to explode. The love you have for each other just exudes from both of you and I know this little boy will be loved and cherished beyond measure!!!
I was wondering if you could repurpose the two drawer units that you took out during demo to make a dresser/changing table. Put them together and add a top.
If you are scared to mess up the wall with paint, you could use white chalk. Get a large one, shade the area and wipe back with dry towel. It should give you the look you want and will stay unless you wipe with a wet towel. Not as scary as paint and easy to remove or add more. If you are like me you have to stand back a look 100 times to make it perfect. Good luck, already looks awesome
Your little nursery nook is absolutely magical. It’s incredible how much every detail - no matter how small - was attended to. And I absolutely love how much depth and interest you’d created in such a tiny space (with exactly what you mentioned: mixing patterns/metals/wood/etc). Aside from your kitchen in the Texas cottage, this is by far my favorite room you’ve ever designed! ❤❤❤
Have you thought about temporarily turning the guest room into your room? It would be so nice to have the baby that close, especially with all the late night feedings.
It looks so darling and magical. We used a small wooden dresser with a wooden changing table tray with pad, on top of it, worked great. Your little guy will love hiding and playing peek a boo behind the curtains.
It turned out cute. It does look like the set on a play. The baby bed & rocker are adorable. I always have the same problem. I live in a mobile home. And the space is cramped. It really takes awhile to get used to. And what is most important & unfortunately really nessary. You don't have a extra room the big bed can be put in? Baby stuff quickly takes up alot of space. The moon is super cute! ❤
I want this moon for my office omg it’s so pretty! The galaxy that you and Romeo have created can never been painted over. It is too pretty and I love that you get to tell your baby boy that each star was made for him 🩵
I love the look of the starry paint, moon light, and vintage brass-looking crib, but the overall setup of the room has me confused. You're going to make guests sleep in the same room as your baby?
Love the crib! I really like the idea of the space, very cute. But I think you may find that you will need the whole room for your little man. Also the storage that you took out would've been extremely useful for toys and such. As you family grows so will your spaces. 🦋
Watching you two become parents is such a joy. That baby isn’t only loved by your family but by me as well- someone who has never met you and probably never will. I’m so happy for you❤ sending love from the middle of Texas❤️
Honestly, you will likely want the glider down in your main living area for the time you keep your baby in the primary room. You will want a side table with a dimmable lamp, an area to set a water bottle, and pumping equipment if needed. You'll figure it out. Just be prepared to use the rocker where your baby will be.
Extremely sweet!!
Nice video

This child has no idea what a lovely and caring family he is being welcomed into….amazing ❤❤❤

Absolutely love it!! I think painting the guest room the same color as the bead-board would really bring the whole space together!
That was exactly my thought!!
Are the markers used for the stars the glow in the dark kind?
love this! especially because the color is so pretty!
I love how daddy is also involved in the baby's room makeover. That is a lucky baby. You guys are amazing
we LOVED working on it together!

The moon light has different settings, I think it would be sufficient.

I like the layout it looks beautiful
@@Lucinda_Jackson Hahaha - YES! Both my kids were crib-scoochers!
yes, keep baby away from cords.
I agree with Romeo...it looks like a theater curtain. What it ends up doing is making the area a moment. Perfect.
Love is hand painting a thousand tiny stars on the ceiling of your child’s nursery ❤ the room looks beautiful MaCenna, you and Romeo have done such a great job!
A low changing table will hurt your back. Id skip it and got for storage instead. You can change baby anywhere. Such a beautiful space !!
there’s something so special about watch you and Romeo build your baby’s crib together 🥹❤️
Yes.
totally agree
She talked about adding a stool at the end of the video🫶🏻
And to hold her kindle...😊 I know she mentioned a stool, but it really needs to be table height IMO. If you're trying to nurse, etc, you just want to reach out and grab what you want without leaning and stretching around.
A dark one! With that chair and the curtain that corner is looking too light compared to the corner with the crib.
You could use the connected guest bedroom as your temporary bedroom to get more use out of the nursery and make it more accessible whilst he’s small. Either way do what feels right and great work 👏🏻
My thoughts exactly!!
When Romeo said it was like a play it made me think of a midsummer night's dream. So perfect I love it 🤍🌕
and that's when he's due! I love that
Love it❣️
Yeah, all the time i was thinkinh about Mr Kate coz of the theme and of course coz their son is literally named Moon ❤
Oh man, this is bringing me back 20 years to when my husband and I painted and decorated for our first baby. Such a special time. And this room is STUNNING🥰🥰🥰
I feel like a long distance aunt, watching her niece & partner embark on this wonderful journey toward parenthood. 💝💝
Me, too❣️
Mom since 1994 - buy the ottoman for the rocker, darker shades help baby sleep a bit longer.
How amazing that one day your little boy can watch this and see the love his parents poured into making his first room so lovely ❤
Absolutely
The curtains might be my favorite part, which I didn't expect at all lol - I don't know, it's almost like the effect of the drapes on a canopy bed, it just instantly made the space feel cozy and warm and safe, without being fussy or princess-y because of the simplicity of the fabric. Just love it so much. The whole room is coming together beautifully💜
I 100% agree with you
completely agree, they made such a massive difference zoning off the space and helping it feel protected and secluded rather than exposed, a bit of extra feng shui
Trust me 🥹
Stunning design!! Just do it in the entire room!!!
This is the most stunning nursery I've seen! that boy is one lucky kid to have you guys as his parents! 💙
awww omg! thank you!
@@XOMaCennayou're welcome! you're gonna be a natural. 🫶🏼😊
For the first five months you can enjoy this romantic room with all the “baby hazards”, but that’s the sweet part of being up in the middle of the night with your baby boy. Soft, soothing beauty and wonder. Both you and Romeo will love rocking baby back to sleep.
Beautiful. Totally agree. A little table/stool big enough wire a lamp and to rest a bottle/binky. 💙
just being realisitc - if the room is feeling tight now and you haven't even brought in any toys, clothes, etc, its not going to be functional after even a few months. it's more important to make the room work for those living in the house - i'd recommend removing the guest bed and putting in a sofa bed -either in this room or the living room. just being realistic, babys may be small but they do require a lot of storage, and within a few months are going to start needing toys. the room conor that doesnt have a closet and can barely fit 3 pieces of furniture is not going to work
This is too precious for words. Really. Such a special little nook for a special little boy ❤
When your were trying to the curtains Kinsley was standing on the chair trying to help you. So cute!
I absolutely love these moments for you and Romeo! Putting the crib together after all these years is such a blessing!
Classy, beautiful, not too elegant for baby and not too childish for mom! MaCenna, it's so cozy and lovely 💫🤍🖤
Really sweet, fanciful, dream-inducing. A baby girl would be just as delighted in this nursery. At any rate, you might inspire an astronaut!
Very cute nursery, love the addition of the curtains! ✨
Must haves.. advice you never asked for 😉
a small nightstand with drawers or little baskets next to chair, all the little things needed for baby, that you don’t want to get up to get, lumbar pillow and the Ottoman - definitely! (Top railing bumper when the baby stands and is teething ) So fun seeing you and Romeo working on this together! Great job little Mama!
Crib bumpers increase the risk of SIDS. Baby can become entrapped and die. Never ever ever use a crib bumper.
@@sarahlazzarotto4274 She may have been referring to a top rail wrapper.
Baby boy will adore this when he looks back at this video someday.
awww thank you so much
Me too!
Macenna, watching you and Romeo putting together your son's nursery is so heartfelt. How beautiful that your son has two amazing parents! Such a joy to watch!
The moon light took the room over the top!! Absolutely adorable.
I love having Romeo in the videos now! He adds an element of humor, plus I love how supportive you both are to each others separate interests. You are a great couple!
Such a sweet nursery - that moon light really takes it over the top! And the constellation and placing of the north star for the time he's due - LOVE!
I'm so excited! Your style is absolutely stunning and cozy at the same time.
Enjoy ❤
OMG!!! The light, the curtains framing it all out. It's just heavenly. I couldn't agree more with all these wonderful comments. Make my heart sing!!!
This is such a labor of love I can’t help but smile thinking the little boy will have love flowing around him even when he’s dreaming.
I loved the crib between the windows both for the visual balance and... windows get very cold and drafty at night next to the baby. The area rug looks great with the dark wall color .
Such an exciting time your lives 🫶🏾🥹thank you for blessing us with this beautiful journey!
I'm old but back in the day sprinkling dots on painted furniture was a common DIY. We dipped a tooth brush in paint and pulled back on the bristles and it flung a million dots of different sizes.
The chair size is perfect for when Kingsley wants to be with you and the baby for feedings! He fits perfectly with you.
Got very emotional watching this one. Been following you since the beginning, and it’s not only one of the most beautiful spaces you’ve ever created, it’s also for this entirely new chapter. Proud and inspired xx
Can’t wait for the kitchen. Kinsley so so precious. She’ll always be your first baby
He will absolutely be over the moon for his room!
Your “Little Dipper” is so blessed to have such amazing parents who already love him so much! His room is darling!
Great Job, the rug over years will be worn in by a little boy . The WALLS , the Space theme painted wall is freakin amazing, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I recommend a tiny table next to the glider for you to set a bottle or burp cloth. I loved the celestial mobile just above the crib near the window
I’m in tears thinking about the amount of love is going into this project. This baby is one lucky kid ❤
The bed is absolutely gorgeous!! Looks so vintage.
Oh my gosh. How adorable is that room. You guys are so wonderful and deserving of this little boy. ❤️ he's so lucky to have you two
A watered down sponged painted technique would also be great for adding more of the cloudy/galaxy to the walls. 💙💙
I just had a vision of you renovating your son’s room down the road when he’s 5,10,15 etc etc and it just gave me all the warm and fuzzies. I’m so happy for you and Romeo ❤
The babies room is so cute, you two are going to be the best parents, the love for him shows so much already ❤❤❤
I love how Romeo supports EVERY EVERY EVERY idea you have, you guys are awesome! truly a good parents to be ♥
Oh my, kinsley in the after shot, sooo adorable! ❤
This looks so sweet
especially because small babies spend so much time on their backs staring at the ceiling haha
It's very pretty, but don't you need a bookshelf for Baby books? And where will you put his clothes?
Have you thought about temporarily turning the guest room into your room? It would be so nice to have the baby that close, especially with all the late night feedings.
It looks so darling and magical. We used a small wooden dresser with a wooden changing table tray with pad, on top of it, worked great. Your little guy will love hiding and playing peek a boo behind the curtains.
And doing plays or singing n dancing, just like he's on a stage!❤
I’d say you hit the mark using your inspiration picture. Love how it’s coming together. ❤️😊
How lovely, baby is so loved already.Beautful transformation into a Nursery nook ❤
Honestly, you will likely want the glider down in your main living area for the time you keep your baby in the primary room. You will want a side table with a dimmable lamp, an area to set a water bottle, and pumping equipment if needed. You'll figure it out. Just be prepared to use the rocker where your baby will be.
