We all had almost as much Fun!!!
Please tell me you bought the blue rug
Go to your local high school and grab a couple of football players to move the sink.
💞
I like the Helix mattress where can one purchase. Enjoyed shopping with you great items.
Drew, I've noticed you've been acquiring a lot of brown furnishings lately.
Years ago, like 30 years ago, I read an article that said colors pertain to your mood, how you are feeling about life.
Counter to what I would have thought, I remember the writer said brown was popular or trending when one is feeling satisfied with life. Happy.
I guess it's true, because you seem so happy since finding your house.
I love this so much! I’d have to say this is very accurate and I am loving brown right now! It’s all I can think about 💕
@@lonefox
As I recall, they said we add bright colors to our decor or attire when we need an uplift.
(I worked for Target 🎯 Marketing and we were always considerate of trends.)
@@Edu_Kate what about green and white?
This was a really cool comment. Thanks!
@@yve5659
Hmm. I posted a response earlier with a link to an article that may help answer your question and it's not here.
I think I Googled something like: trends in color reflect mood or emotions.
The rug that britney found was a prayer mat and the uneven design is for pointing in the direction for prayer. It's pretty thou and could be used as a rug
I was going to say that! Right on point! Beautiful prayer mat ♥️
Yes the rug is beautiful. Personally I would rather use it as wall hanging instead of stepping on it like a regular floor rug. Simply out of respect
And I'm a Catholic not a Muslim.
Yes a prayer mat for sure
I asked my bf about this because he is Muslim. He said a prayer mat is only for praying and using it as a regular rug is disrespectful.
Thank you Krispy. I thought it was too. But there are so many ignorant trolls out there who are giving us a hard time about this. It comes down to the simple phrase (respect others as you wish to be respected).
And as I said . As soon as Drew knows what he has. He will rise to the occasion. And not step on it. Thanks again for the answer.
The horizontal "jug" you found (6:50) with the cork screw plug is actually an old fashioned bed warmer. Put hot water in it and place it under the covers at the foot of the bed to warm your feet on cold nights. I actually have one! Great find! 💙
The pot before them is marked “Stone” because it is “ STONEWARE” type of clay. Highly fired and rugged. The black pot is probably “Raku” or pit- fired in an ember- filled pit, often with straw, which gives the burnt orangey touches. All great finds.
Interesting.
That is what I was going to point out. Here in Canada, it was called a "pig"!
Hi from the UK. They are bed warmers I owned two some years ago, they were made in different sizes, baby warmers also.
I actually love the African chairs in your home. It's an unexpected element that still totally goes with everything else because of the dark wood. I appreciate that you are trying to be respectful of the history of the home but feel free to add your own history. It's not like you are knocking everything down and making it a contemporary, minimalist home. I am loving this process!
That sink is absolutely gorgeous! Just a caution - make sure that the furniture piece you use underneath it can carry the weight. ❤️
Find out the exactly what you would use to clean your stone! Use nothing else.
There is something so refreshing and inspiring about seeing you hunt for antiques, unique items, and things you aren’t trying to directly monetize from. I’m so sick of influencers shoving swipe ups down our throats. Sick of the same retailers and same pieces showing up in different iterations of home design feeds. And I think a lot of people are! So I hope you stay true to yourself and keep doing this style of decorating because it is one million times more interesting (and better for the environment!).
So true! This is so much better than if he was furnishing his whole house with Article or something lol
I totally agree. I’ve never seen so many influencers have the same exact colors and pieces in their homes. It’s an obvious money maker but somewhat boring. I love that Drew is creative and insightful. Nothing will be boring when he’s done with this beautiful home!
I love all of your finds-the birthing chairs are incredible! I especially enjoy reading the comments to see the history and significance of the items. It’s always great to keep learning!
Though I could never get myself out of one of those chairs.
I, too, like learning about his treasures.
He’s learning as he goes. It’s really all new to him lol.
I also thought the sinks would make a gorgeous outdoor garden water piece.
This shopping trip was....heavenly!
Imagine having no $ limitations?
OMG. Please do not cut up that table runner!!!! When I saw that hand stitching and you said you could cut them up my heart hurt! Please use it in one piece ; a wall hanging in a two story foyer, or a table runner, a mock canopy over a bed or at the end of a bed. The possibilities are endless!!! Love all your finds!!!!
Custom frame the table runner! It would make a stunning piece of art.
Good Morning Drew!! Those fabrics you bought are Kuba cloths and I have them in my home. I love them!! You got some great finds.A lot of your finds from the flea market are of African origin. ❤️❤️❤️
I love learning proper terms for Drew's treasures. TY for educating us.
Hi Drew! If might add they are artisanal cloths made by the Kuba tribe in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuba_textiles). I suggest you do not cut what you call the table runner, you might take the risk of causing damage to it. You can't treat it like it's wax or kinte print fabric. Please preserve that piece of African tradition.
They are hand woven with raffia.
I was just in South Africa and saw those very chairs!! If I could have brought them home I would have. But now I have hope I might be able to find some in the States. Problem is I doubt that anyone in Colorado will be selling them. :(
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velours_du_Kasa%C3%AF
For the small ones, it is from Zaïre and it was used as currency! Very cool :)
I'm seriously addicted to all your videos with your new home. I love that you are sharing your journey with us, your thought processes. Just love it all! TY
Worried about how heavy the sink would be - can the vanity support it easily when filled with water? Those carved chairs were epic AF! I wish to hell I lived on the other side of the country and was rich so you could do a house for me!!!! That long runner might do nicely as a wall-to-wall wall hanging.
Water will add 8.3 pounds per gallon. After a 250 pound sink, that old vanity is solid wood, so I wouldn't worry about water in sink. Lol
the african koba cloth- wow is it 10 or 12 feet long? - yes frame it and use as 'gallery' piece
I had the same thought. I bet the variety could be reinforced from the inside to carry the extra weight.
@@katewade9992 'solid wood' is misnomer - the buffet console that Drew is considering using as a vanity to hold a sink is actually constructed of lighter weight mixed pieces of soft wood- it is not 'hard wood ' which is heavy and dense. If Drew wants to place the sink on the top if the vanity ( photos he showed) he will have to build a re-enforced support to hold the sink
My thoughts exactly. I came to comment the same. Hope the vanity top is strong enough to take the basin weight.
In LOOOOOVE with your Kuba Cloth table runner! Pleeeeease don’t chop it up into separate pieces! It’s laboriously handmade from the Kuba tribe in Africa! I absolutely love everything you bought! Wish I still lived in LA!!
Thank you for giving these textiles a name, Cindy. It's some of the most beautiful fabrics (texture and pattern) I have ever seen.
Loved virtually going with you on this flea market thrift quest vlog, Drew! ❤️ You have a hella keen eye and such great taste in the items you've selected. Thank you for taking us along!
So happy you enjoyed coming along!
Yes I loved going along with you on the flea market spree that was fun..lovelove
I love that you find things that are not only beautiful, but also authentic, period appropriate and high quality pieces with a story. So many people just go buy a bunch of junk from RH and call it design… lol Keep up the great work!
Loved this! The bottle you found with the stopper is actually an old fashioned bed warmer. It would have been filled with hot water and put into the bed (usually where your feet would lie) to warm the bed for you in winter xx
I recently learned about these on a trip to Ireland. Very cool.
@@primateleah1 Yes, common in Europe...works well as well on cold nights!
@@primateleah1 I live in Edinburgh, Scotland, so we definitely appreciate a hot water bottle in winter 😁❄️❄️
Yes, that’s what they called a hot water bottle. My granny used to fill it with hot water in the winter when I stayed with her.
Yes it is a hot water bottle for sure!! I use one as a door stop in the kitchen ❤️
I bought a Helix mattress this spring and found it didn't work for me (I love my "Big Fig" mattress - as in big figure). Helix made it so easy to return their mattress. A local person (by day he's a nurse) came to pick it up. He spread a sheet of plastic on my driveway, placed the twin mattress in it, folded it in half and "gift wrapped" it, then took it to a Habitat for Humanity charity. I was refunded my money quickly.
Turns out big figures prefer a much firmer mattress.
So fun to watch the bed in a box expand.
Helix let me keep the two free pillows. They're very lofty.
Drew - you and Brittany were very lucky for an overcast morning for Long Beach Flee Market. You are attracted to tribal, Moroccan and 1930's vintage- and that represents a wonderful exciting moment in history - 1930's with PAN AMERICAN airlines people start traveling the globe, National Geographic Magazine is published, the traditional handcrafts of Africa, Arabia, Morocco and Spain ( carpets, leather, glass) start to show-up in America, UK, Paris and FILM NOIR is all about this decor. You could call this decorative vibe ' global safari' because it's about travel: choosing the unusual and may be even the dangerous path to travel hunting for treasure. DO some virtual time travel with Humphrey Bogart and Peter Lorre in the 'Maltese Falcon'( the yacht !) and 'Casablanca' for the sets
Everything was so beautiful at oliveateliers😍. Can’t wait to see what you do with your new home !
Wasn’t it all so beautiful!! 😍 I couldn’t believe it when I walked around the corner
@@lonefox
Drew, I drove around for weeks with my black enameled cast iron kitchen sink in the back of my car because it was sooooo heavy.
Good luck getting yours upstairs.
Those chairs are stunning!!! Also beautiful to think life was brought into the world in them!,
I’m jealous! All those Senufo stools to chose from! I have to get them on eBay. How much were they? Large ones are $550 and up. I love the appreciation of African decorative arts.
Modern before their time!
That rug you found is actually a prayer mat and its so funny how many people are using prayer mats as rugs nowadays.
I wanted to say that. You can recognize it by the asymmetry on one end. The end with the asymmetry is the end you point towards Mekka. Just a little bit of information for anyone who is curious.
that is nothing new
i realized when he said it's asymmetric!
@@salma-kl7ef thanks for this, I've only seen them on TV
The prayer mat is stunning and as soon as Drew realizes what he has I'm sure he will do the right thing and put it in a place of respect and not step on it. I've seen Muslims take them out. Use them in prayer then carefully roll them up and put them away.
AMAZING finds!! The birthing chairs are meant to be sat on facing the REAR, with legs separated to assist in delivery. My friend from South Africa framed her mudcloth, converting it into a huge wall art! Love your talent!!
I’m telling Drew. That’s so interesting.
Hi Drew, My mum has the same beautiful fabric which you refer to as the African mud cloth. She has two large pieces hanging either side of her curtains in her bedroom, in Nambucca Heads NSW in Australia. Her name is Ang and is 89 years old and still loving her life. She spends many hours weaving. We love you Drew. Happy hunting for many more treasures.
Long Beach flea seems like a treasure trove! With so many antique vintage items you are perfectly set up to go modern contemporary for art work…would create tremendous personality for your rooms. Fun!
dont forget you have a great courtyard out front and some of those pots would be lovely. 🌸
I love how much you have changed - but even more so, I feel like you have so much respect for every home you encounter and you lean into their history and architectural style and that shapes your choices in such a natural way. Love the chairs. And Olive Ateliers has so inspiring colours, I might do a painting inspired by it soon.
Those two fabric pieces would be really interesting as framed art.
The Kuba cloth is gorgeous. The long runner is amazing. Glad you will this treasure from the Congo region somewhere brilliantly in your home.
🤯The chairs and mud clothes had me SOLD Drew! The chairs i'd keep for a lifetime. 🙌🏾
You found fantastic decor pieces. You are blessed with wonderful vision and imagination. Loved this video and your channel.♥️
I love that you go to flea markets. So many other people would just buy new things (or get new furniture through partnerships), but you actually inspire people to incorporate great flea market deals. Not everyone can afford new designer things, so this is a great idea.
Kudos to you for doing your research and properly naming your chairs as African birthing chairs. Also, I think you're smart to be incorporating other African motifs into your home through the fabrics and textiles.
WOW! You weren't kidding, that place is heaven! I want to go so badly!
Drew your video made my Saturday morning! Wow, so much fun hanging out with you both and getting to see so many awesome treasures! Thank you so much for getting out of bed 🤣and sharing your energy, enthusiasm, and exciting shopping experience. It was all HEAVENLY... Big Hugs! 🥰
Isn't it Sunday?

Lord Jesus those textiles are so pretty and perfect size for a throw pillow!!! what a score.

THIS REALLY IS HEAVEN ON EARTH. I need it all. Honestly need to spruce up my space and love everything in this video.
the house is coming together and its gorgeous!!! I cant wait for the end result!!!
The chairs are awesome as well as the african cloths. You can make a very eclectic and interesting home with all that. In France people mix a lot styles provinçal et chabi chic. What is great about all your finds is that they are priced incredibly below market. Et voilà. A bientôt!
Oh my goodness! I am obsessed with your decor style. I can’t wait to see how gorgeous your home will look.
The shopping looks like so much fun. Can't wait to see what you do with your new home. ❤️
Your videos is so calm and aesthetic that's what every one wants ♥️🥰💖🍓😍🍓
Wauw, what a haul! I have two big antique Chinese ginger pots, converted into lamp bases. So stunning and timeless. Every day I enjoy looking at them. And they fit in any interior. Oh and I also just bought a new house. So now I'm following you and Mckenna extra closely for inspiration!
FANTASTIC Rug !!! & the stone sink !!! Thanks for including the bathroom pics. AMAZING finds on the textiles, chairs WOW Loved Everything !!!
I love how you are going all out for textures and patterns and not playing basic at all. Love being in this journey at all.
I love everything you bought! I can start to imagine how this home will look and it’s going to be amazing.
PS. PLEASE KEEP THOSE CHAIRS FOR YOUR HOME!
A lot of great shopping. I thought you could have taken that whole pile of fabrics and none would been wrong. Can't wait to see what you do with your new items. 😁😁👋👋💖💖
Great finds. Can't wait to see you implement them into your home or someone else's. Thank you Drew!
Wow, I used to go to all these things in my 20s, which was the late 70s into 80s when many were just swap meets, old car parts. But lucky to sometimes find those hippie artists and makers or old wicker etc. Some were antiques, like Hollywood Bowl has been forever! It picked up more to real vintage with the HGTV shows. I love when you show all the stores too. We retired to where we fished and camped 3 hours north of LA county. Sometimes I miss the big stores but dont miss the traffic!
Yeah, and now at our age we're looking to purge our homes of stuff we acquired in our youth. 😆
Great video - loved the bits of you waking up and checking out your sunburn. Very viewer friendly. You found so many amazing pieces - the birthing chairs could become your place for dreaming up new ideas and designs.
I'm glad to go shopping with you!!! My kids won't take me to the antique and Thrift shops.... I haven't been to a flea market for over 20 yrs..
So, keep on shopping and I'll just imagine that I'm just tagging along!!! ❤️
I'm so sorry you don't get to visit shops/markets you'd like to. ❤
I've been house bound for years. I know what that feels like😘
Oh my gosh, love watching you shop in these kinds of places. You two got some real nice things. Thanks for sharing.
✨💖✨I can’t wait to see all this styled! It’s been so much fun watching Drew from his early inspired thrift shop finds and diys to this beautiful new home. This next leg of the journey is going to be so much fun!
Perfect timing as I can see MaCenna's house reno project is nearing completion.
This junkie needs her fix!
-central Wisconsin: I think that stool would be good to put a plant on, but omg, how many of those little stools did you get? I saw a bunch on your floor.
Loving going shopping with you and how the house is coming along…can’t wait until you can get in there and do your thing. ❤️
The little stool would look great with a plant on it. Also, the brown/black small rug would look great if hung on a wall. Love your enthusiasm
You look like your having so much fun. I Love you personality, love how excited you get when you find a great piece. My 🙏 Prayers to you for your new house. I just know it's going to be fantastic.
Omg, that cutting board! 💕
I’m green with envy! It will look stunning in your house. I cannot wait to see what you do with it!
It was too good to pass up! Under $100 as well which I thought was pretty fair for how large it was 😍😍😍
Your excitement is contagious!
Cannot got enough of your style!! Such great finds 😊
This was so fun.
I loved all the things. If I went to this flee market I would definitely have to budget and leave my cards at home, because I could see me doing some serious damage to my account. I can hardly wait to see the full house tour 🤗🤗
I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE IT ! However I can feel the Journey ! Those chairs and that long fabric pieces are to live for !!! I moved 17 years ago to my place which is Spanish Eclectic + style too - I am enjoying your first home decoration process vicariously !! It is so wonderful when someone loves and enjoys what they do !! #keepthemagic
Also be careful using it . Marble can be stained with hair dye etc.
OMG Drew, how fabulous are the finds you got!!! Dude your new home is going to be stunning! Fun!!!
Everything you found was amazing, can't wait to see how you style them.
I’ve been to the Long Beach Antique Market and it is amazing and overwhelming! But yeah, stuff can be a bit expensive there. You had some great picks! Now you need to take us to the huge Rose Bowl Market!
Yes and Brittany is a great partner on this Flee Market and antiquing adventure
Hi Drew - I so enjoyed shopping with you! Especially got a kick out of the stoneware jug you bought. Very popular in the Southeast where I grew up, they’re called moonshine jugs or moonshine whiskey jugs.
I was wondering if they knew moonshine jug .
OMG that sink!!!!!! And of course all the other fabulous finds!
The items you found are fabulous. Cant wait to see the final looks.
You always just “Make My Day”.
Your new house is amazing can’t wait to see what u do with it and how you decorate it
Absolutely beautiful finds and those chairs are aaaaamazing😍
Hi Drew, had fun following you so relaxing just watching you shop.
I’m a midwife and LOVE those birthing chairs! Wish you could come and help me sort out my home decor. Love all your ideas and cannot wait to see what you do in your new home!
The absolute BEST finds! I LOVE the chairs, rugs & large vases at first flea market. The sinks at the 2nd one was divine! Excellent!!
Is so nice to see you so excited! You are so loved by so many.
I love these vlog style videos, you’re killing it Drew. 💕
What an adventure 😇 those African chairs are still being made by artisans in Madagascar and Africa in general.
Drew, just an FYI that the first small asymmetrical rug you showed looks to be an Islamic prayer rug. The user would point it (the narrow part of the design) towards Mecca when rolling it out to pray. I have a few prayers rugs that my father brought over from Iran. If you don’t know Spain’s Moorish history, it might fun for you to research that and its design influence on the country. A lot of the pieces you are picking would go well with it.
I really love where you’re going with the decor of your new home…you are genius!
Long Beach has a bunch of great vintage and antique stores as well. The prices for Cali are really good and being from the Midwest where vintage prices are generally lower, I did not die of sticker shock.
I hope the weight of the sink isn't too much for your beautiful vanity. Loved what you got at the flea market. You probably know this, but many cultures make an intentional flaw in their rugs and tapestries to show that we mortals aren't perfect, only God.
Watching from Ghana 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭❤️
Thank you for always sharing the stores you go into. I'm for sure checking them out.
Can't wait to see u style your new things. The chairs are EVERYTHING! I would use some of the fabric as wall decor in the rooms with the chairs!!
Oh my gosh Drew you have to keep the chairs. They are absolutely stunning. And I think they would look beautiful in your home. Still not sure how anybody could give birth in it however the firm reminds me of an Adirondack chair which are really comfortable. Again the chairs are everything.
You both have such a great eye, what beautiful finds...I would be overwhelmed and give up as I have the attention span of a golden retriever, lol...also loving Brittany's look...please, please, what brand are her reading glasses and where can I buy?
The stone jug with a stopper in the side is a hot water bottle. You put hot water in it and put it in your bed to heat it up on cold winter nights.
That was awesome shopping!!! Love how everything you got complements each other. Such beautiful, earthy elements! Gorgeous! Wow!
Sorry, I had a red neck situation myself and couldn't stop laughing.
Keep up the good you do, love your style.
LOVE your finds! Don’t forget you may need to reinforce that antique piece to support the weight of the beautiful sink. It will look spectacular once installed 😃👍🏻❤🇨🇦
Yes I’ll definitely look into that!! Could you imagine a stone sink falling on your foot in the morning 😧
That was so fun! You found some great items. Can't wait to see how you use them.
Wow, you found some absolutely unique & gorgeous items for your new home! Thanks for sharing!!
The small rug at the beginning is a praying rug for muslims. Don't think it is good idea to put it the bathroom. ❤️
not every small rug is religious.. things can be multipurpose especially if they dont have any religious symbol
I have a Afghanistan war rug and I died a thousand deaths when a friend of mine was cleaning my kitchen and decided to put that rug in front of my sink
Ahhh I had no idea! Noted and will make sure to put somewhere special 🥰
@@MoonChild-po9du you should've mummified the rug and stored it in a pyramid
@@flyfaraway111 that IS a prayer mat. The smaller square-sh part is called the mihrab and is placed facing the direction of Mecca. (Conversations like this is why I think the history of religions should still be taught in school.)
This guy be buying anything that looks pretty for no reason and honestly I can't blame him, I would do the same thing haha. I would go crazy at that flea market! Drew, please, wear SUNSCREEN! Every sunburn like that increase the chances to develop skin cancer.
Spent most of my life in FL and ended up with a small cancer on
my nose. Also had a friend who had major surgery on her nose. The doctors did an amazing job but it was a majorly stressful process.
@@barbaraburton8914 I have heard cases like yours! My grandfather grew up in the countryside and in the last years of his life he developed a big carcinoma on the side of his face. Being constantly exposed to the sun for long periods of time or even having a sunburn like this just once, can result in something bigger, that's why using sunscreen is so important.
Drew, I love all the stuff you got! I LOVE the fabric, and those chairs and pots! I swear, you guys have such good stuff in LA! I haven't seen anything that comes close to the items you bought today where I live. Loving that sink too! Looks like so much fun to go to the flea market!❤
What a fun shopping trip! Thanks for taking us along!
Drew is smart to use his phone to compare prices online or to find out more about anything his sees shopping. For instance he researched the primitive marble sinks and then felt very confident when he found a good deal in exactly the look he wanted. But the double wood doors - no no no ; first- they are cheap knock offs and second ; belong at Mexican restaurant and not your house. So I guess I'm saying - shopping is so exciting when you find cool novel stuff BUT when in doubt just walk away especially if you haven't a clue how you would use! Stay close to your mood board and design work-ups when buying
