Despite being Nepal’s fifth largest district and pretty popular because of Rara Lake, many people know very little about Mugu district. Mum or Mugu village, from which the whole district adopted its name and its beautiful pastures are unknown to many. So, with the initiation from the youths of Mugu Village, we set out to explore the area and also document the Yarsa collection.
In this episode, we take you along our journey from Kathmandu all the way to the last northern village of Mugu District, Mugu and explore its people, culture, history, traditions and surroundings. And there’s a very interesting looking mountain nearby the village, Swangeri, which has a big hole, believed to be caused by the arrow shot by Pala Gopo.

Trip Itinerary and Travel Cost
The total trip to Mugu and Thulo Koigi costs around 50k per person if you go by air. The cost comes down to 30k if you go by road.
Day 1 Kathmandu - Nepalgunj (by air or road) - Gurase, Dailekh (by road)

Our Sincere apologies for the mistake about Mugu being the second largest district of Nepal. We've trimmed that part off. About Rara being the deepest lake of Nepal, a new studies on the depths of Phoksumdo and Rara Lake has determined that Rara is in fact the deepest lake of Nepal. The max. depth of Rara lake is 167 m. whereas the max depth of Phoksumdo lake is 136m.

If I may, would like to suggest upper Dolpa to Mustang trek (if you haven’t already done). It navigates at the highest plateaus in the world. Most of the trails runs above 4000m with many 5,000m+ passes. There are ancient villages waiting to be explored. Rare and ancient monasteries, chortens and gumpas still stand tall at every turn. Komang, Saldang, Namgung, Tinje, Simen and Chhakra villages are simply beyond anyone’s imagination. Bon Po, a pre-Buddhism religion, is still practiced there. Would love to see Gumante team show this mostly untouched part of Nepal to the world how beautiful it is.
I feel lucky to have rear opportunity to travel to this part of the Himalaya last year. A short amateur video without narration..

We also have mugu in Myanmar where a lots of Nepali orgin live . Actually the name of town is Mogok(Ruby land). That's why our older people called mugu instead of Mogok.

In 2021 we went on a 10-day Karnali trip with the same Guruji from Nepalgunj saw that exact truck 7:32 near manma and ate lunch at the same hotel in Bhulbule . This video brought me all those memories.😅

To go there you can go to nepalgunj there you will take flight to talcha airport mugu it will take a hour or so than 30 minutes from airport to gamgadi capital of mugu than you can rest there and be prepared for 2 days hike it will go along with karnali river and when you reach there there is Big Buddha monument between the two Rivers right ahead of the village what a scene 🥰
That time there were no power banks my phone battery drained before reaching the village i couldn't take photos, it was 2011 or 12 I was 16 years of age that time.. times really flies in January 2016 i met with an accident and broke my spine now i haven't walked since then , thease are the memories I was able to make along with few others, God bless the world 🌎♥️
