How to get key unstuck from a Volkswagen passat 2006

- My key has been stuck since Sept.2017. It came off sometimes. We thought it was a sensor problem, perhaps it still is. I came across a solution to our problem couple days ago. I hope this will help everyone who had same problem. Good luck!!

I had this problem. I even called my local dealership. The service tech said "Oh yeah, that repair costs $950 minimum, you have a malfunctioning something or other" I stopped listening when he told me the cost and the part had to come from Germany. I watched this video, can't believe it. This worked exactly as she says.
Even five mins talking about pushing gear stick forward, she saved me bunch of money. Thanks a lot!
Such a basic fix for a MAJOR issue I thought would require a mechanic. Thank you!

Hi guys, automotive locksmith here. short and simple the fix is by pressing in the left button of the shifter. You don't necessarily need to move it forward.
Hey, but how I can do it if my shifter doesn't have a left button, I have a manual one, not an automatic, thank you, I am going to be thankful if you help me.

That's a good question. I personally never worked on a manual version of this Passat that has the same style key and ignition.

@@loveprogramming2535 I noticed the pattern to be that the key would get stuck most often when inserting a non programmed key to be programmed
@@SneekyFauker yes I want to program my key, but if I fail to do so, I want to have an option to remove the key from the ignition.

Guys just push the gear shift forward . When it's at park just push it up a little bit more. My theory is the car doesnt think it's in park so by pushing it further a little bit more it then reads it's in park.

Hey Thanks a lot man I just tried it and worked perfectly well. I didn't even need to move the stick. Pressing the break pedal and pushing the button on the side and boom. It was out. Just saved 450.00$. You're the man. 😉

If you’re interested in getting more followers, make your videos as short simple and informative as possible in the “LEAST” amount of time. Get to the point without all the dialogue. This video could’ve been 30 seconds long and that would’ve been more than was actually needed!
I had a 06 Passat a few years ago that did this too. As soon as she said the key gets stuck I knew exactly what she meant. That car was the jankiest thing I had ever driven. That's saying a lot considering my first car was an 02 Sonata that would randomly shift into neutral while driving and had to be started with a screwdriver in the battery terminal.

What I did is apply tiny amount oil lube the end of they key teeth, after I got key out. Worked great for me.
Try not to talk so slow like seriously obviously want the info quickly

Dear just remove the peace of cloth or sack out of the gear stick and your key will work properly
