@@AirandGroundinScale Didn't realise you had your live chat on when you premiered. I was getting my beauty sleep at the time, sorry! Anyways, another great episode. And the DSPIAE items are seriously cool. I'll be looking into those sanding sponges for myself.
Beauty sleep is more important!!! 😄 you can only chat during the short time of the video...you have to get those sponges, they are really nice and good quality!!!
If I would to a mottle over a base coat I would make sure, that the paintthinning-ratio and the airpressure on the airbrush are perfectly dialed in. It makes it much easier (ok, this tip is pretty obvious, but anyway...) :D Thank you for your comment! Next give-away is coming!!!
What a great choice Tasic!!! Thank you very much for taking part in the premier, I think your kids fell easily asleep while watching something boring like this :D !!! Have a great Sunday!!!
@@AirandGroundinScale Yes I know. However you have an alcool base paint and mlt, which is totaly fine, but is the use of the transparator, wich is made for water based paints, that is intriguing me. Have you tried only to instead dilute 50/50 wilth mlt, use like 20/80 (paint to thinner) to have more control over the opacity?
Hey Bruno! Yes, the transparator is dedicated for water based paints, but I had to try it and it worked just fine with the same brand of colors on my other build, so I used it again. The dark paints cover really strong the underlying layers, I went already for much more thinning than 50/50, as I always do. Next time I'll try other, stronger colors for the black basing... I hope you tune in to my next experiment :) Thanks for your comment!!!
I'm glad your channel popped up in my recommended videos. Great job explaining the process and looking forward to watching the second video..You have earned another subscriber!!👍
Hey Bradley thanks for tuning in and leaving such a motivating comment! Would youtube been a little bit earlier, you wouldn‘t have missed the give-away... so you have to stay until 2000 subs 😄
Now I'm in the middle of weathering this black aircraft. And I will try to get the pictures as you said in direct sunlight. I hope it will be more interesting for you viewers. Thanks a lot for the tip!!!
Hey Marco, I always try new approaches and in my opinion black basing is easy, fun and the weathering looks interesting. I can recommend it! Don't you like the results of black basing?
Great Episode Leon. Really looking forward to see the final plane. Looks like you found the sweet spot on the cover layer. Looks great. The effect changes as well with the gloss coat🤣
Hey Markus!!! Thanks again for tuning in at the premier!!! It could have been a little bit lighter. Too bad i won‘t leave it glossy 😄 have a great evening!
Hey Markus! I bought the Putty at Modellbau König. I think it's their own brand. But there are several puttys with the same specifications like this from the known other brands. It is pretty easy to mask the gear bays with it, but it's a little bit fiddly to get it all out again... :)
@@AirandGroundinScale Hi Leon, thanks will check it out there👍. Think its worth a try, I'm using litle foam pieces or paper towel, quite fiddely as well😂
@@AirandGroundinScale I bought the Zvezda kit, its design is totally different but seems to be a very nice kit as well. My dad did two eduards, he loves the company :)
Shes starting to look complete! Anyways, on the topic of airbrushes, i got myself e H&S Ultra, and I couldnt be happier with the thing, its very well thought out(well, apart from that press fit paint cup, im not a fan of that concept), the ease of taking it apart for cleaning, thats the best. And I was able to get really fine, smoothly faded paint transitions between colours on the camo I free handed on my sukhoi. So far the part of the build im the most proud of.
Good tools makes your projects smoother. The H&S Brand is easy to take apart and clean in my opinion. Easier than the mr. Color airbrush. I really like doing transitions or grading like in colormodulation. Where can i admire your sukhoi?
Love black basing and as usual you did a fantastic job. how are you getting on with the new airbrush? How does it compare to the h&s? And well done to the winners!
Thank you for tuning in LPJ! It‘s difficult to tell, which AB I like more... in my opinion the H&S is easier to clean and take apart. Both are ergonomic and good to work with. I‘ll need some more hours to get some more practise with the new AB to get a reference...
Such a great video. In order to do the white lines on the black basing I have 3 quick 🙋🏽♂️ questions: 1. what paint to thinner ratio are you using? 2. Around what psi were you spraying it at? 3. What needle size are you using? Thank you in advance
Hey Plastic Scholar! Sorry for my late response: 1. Very thin, thinner than milk, perhaps 20% Paint to 80% Thinner... 2. Around 10 PSI, it doesn't matter, if it splatters a bit, it creates variation, doesn't have to be a clean job in my opinion... 3. I use a 0.15 or 0.2 size needle... Thanks for you question and have fun!!!
The white was too strong, so i had to paint several passes to cover it. So the blue isn‘t noticeable anymore. If i wouldn‘have used white, more like a grayish shade, the result would have been with more variation in the base coat...
Hello! I am also in Switzerland and I sas wondering if you coule recommand a hobby store in Switzerland that is reliable and with nice stocks from which I could order online? I have just subscribed to your channel as I do not want to miss this next serie video! Been resisting to buy an Eduard G-6 for some time nos ^^
Salut Pierre! Thanks for tuning in and subscribing! As I'm located near Bern, there is one local hobby store I know in my reach. This would be 'Replika Modellbau' you can find them on google. I already ordered from www.euromodelshop.ch, www.suter-meggen.ch and www.gdkits.ch should be good to. I have to admit, that I often order material directly from japan over ebay. You have to try the Eduard Bf109 they are very nice! Je te shouaite un bon weekend!!!

I know!!! I thought nato black wouldn‘t cover as heavily... 😖 many lessons learned. But you still see some black basing, it‘s just difficult to capture... you gave me the tip with the natural light, which i‘ll try for the next slide shots...
Thank you for tuning in and leaving a comment! You're absolutely right, if you saw the other videos, very much will be hidden, but the faint visible structure and color variation is in my opinion more interesting than a uniform coat. Just pre-shading the panellines is too strong of a contrast, black basing is much easier to do. You can use a templet and your finished in several minutes... Best regards!
