  • I've just arrived in Vietnam biggest city, Ho Chi Minh City (also called Saigon)! Come with me on this first impressions of Vietnam travel vlog where we will be joined by a local from Saigon, Emma.
I started my day in District 4, Ho Chi Minh City, where I'm staying. It is a very local area with a lot of cute alleyways and motorbikes. I went to Cong Ca Fe to try their famous coconut coffee before meeting Emma and exploring the city on her motorbike.
We went the the Chinatown Area (Cholon), as well as the Binh Tay market. We then headed to Turtle lake in search of street food and ate a Vietnamese pizza and a quail egg omelette with costed around $1. After that, we ended our day at a night market that is also a flower market during the day.
If you go to Saigon, you can hire Emma for a tour: emmaonthego.com/

I visited Ho Chi Minh City in 1995, so I was interested to see how the city has changed. Wow! 😲 The urbanisation amazes me - all those skyscrapers - but I’m glad to see that prosperity has come to Vietnam, glad too to see that the traditional life remains. My lasting memory is of the people, warm and welcoming, good to be with. You captured all these elements in the video. Great work! 👏 The food looks wonderful, but I think I’ll leave sea worms to those who know how to appreciate them. 😄 Thank you for sharing.

At that area in District 2 was not quite rice fields. District 2 back then was poor, outskirt of Saigon, but not like countryside. There were tons of people living there, underdeveloped, but not enough land for agriculture, like rice. We used to take shortcut across district 2 from district 1 ferry to Thao Dien.

Funny thing about the "mafia" in District 4. I used to live a couple houses away from the "biggest" mafia leader back then, and no body knew about it :) until he was arrested.... The thing about mafia and street gangs in District 4 back then was more hyped up than anything. Yeah, I lived there and I bared saw gangs in actions :). I'd seen fights on the street there as much as I'd seen in District 1 and District 3, where I went to school at young age.

Nice video. I like to remind you that Vietnam has ethnic Chinese that want to show you their heritage instead of the Vuetnamese's. So in the end you only see Vietnam culture is "non existant". It's a bad thing that theunfnortunate Vietnam is next to the giant China. What you don't know í s that China owes its splendors thanks largely to the Vietnamese contribution. History has shown that the Forbiden City in Beijing was actually designed by a very yong Vietnamese architect named Nguyen An from the initial design to the finished construction. The "1000 yrs Chinese doimination" is about the Vietnamese invention of the "crossbow" that was stolen by the Chinese that led to that period of the Chinese ruling. Without it, such "1000 yrs of China's domination" would never happen. Among other things.
The French colonization is the opposite. Yes colonization is bad, but do you know how much the French have contribruted to Vietnam's economy today? Fact is the coffee that you are ẹnjoying, and the" banh mi", it's the French bagtte. Among other things.

Vietnam could be more enjoyable if the people didn’t throw trash everywhere and sell the food with safety and sanitary.

Hello, I just wanted to say that I found the food very safe in Vietnam! You will see in my next videos but I went to very local places and everything was very nice and clean and overall good to eat! Everywhere, I recommend sticking to places where you can see a lot of local people buying, I usually often have a problem when I eat in tourists spots, even in France, my home country (pro tip: do NOT eat anywhere near the Eiffel Tower if you don't want to have any belly troubles!)

@@thumtlnguyen3626 I agree that not every country is for everyone but I found Vietnam very clean and nice! It's so enjoyable how people never wear shoes inside and how clean the floors are!! I love sitting on the ground so that was so nice for me :)

Vietnam is the cleanest and safest place, friends, every country has a light corner and a dark corner, prices in Vietnam are too cheap, this is an opportunity for travel enthusiasts to enjoy life, now. If you don't enjoy it, you won't have the opportunity later.😂
