As someone who’s from NY who’s never been anywhere outside of America….Paris is my #1 travel destination spot. I’m one of those people who would definitely be “that tourist” with wanting to see the typical spots in Paris, not just because they’re touristic and look amazing…..but because of the history in creating them. When it comes to buildings, monuments, and any structures that were made in the like the medieval times, Roman times, etc….I think they’re worth seeing because of how much history they hold especially with what life was like back then. It’s fascinating to see those structures but then to see more modern structures around them, showing us how much the times have changed. I would also love to visit Paris during Christmas….it would definitely be super crowded but something about the lights, and how everything is decorated makes me wanna see it.
We were there for a week in the middle of June.....Out of the dozens of shopkeepers we interacted with, only one or two were anything less than very friendly and only one was what I'd call rude...
Went to Paris last May and really enjoyed it. Loved the cafe / bar / people watching culture, all the history and the architecture. But was most impressed by the bike culture, did a Tour to get the hang of it but then did Velib rentals and enjoyed cycling around in the late Spring sunshine. If you like cycling, you’ll Love Paris ❤️
After traveling to Europe and returning to US, I finally understand what that is makes me feel so fulfilled when I am in Europe. The genius and beauty of historical architecture has an amazingly healing effect on our psychological wellbeing. It's magnificently large sculptures and structures, when you look at them for a while you just escape. I am crying because I don't there. And that's exactly why. So, perhaps when people move and experience hardship, being out can help deal with stress. I don't know.
Thank you for this great video that is filled with a lot of useful information and tips! I’d be visiting Paris for the first time in October and can’t wait to enjoy some French food and sophistication! Merci Lucile 🎉
Thank you for all the advice!!! I will be visiting in October and I am so excited and nervous at the same time. This will help me a lot!!! Great video.😊
Thank you for sharing Paris! I was there last week for the very first time and fell in love with the beautiful city. I want to go back as soon as possible and especially when Notre Dame opens again. I cannot believe I’ve missed out on this beautiful city and country my entire life. I dream of many more trips to Paris. If I had my youth to do over, I’d definitely study abroad in Paris.
You were so right about Batignolles! What an amazing neighborhood! My wife and I were out exploring yesterday after our arrival and the vibe was amazing. So many families out with their children everywhere even in the evening. Really fantastic. Thank you for the recommendation. Now we just need to find that boulangerie with your map!
Si je venais à Paris, j’adorerais t’inviter à déjeuner. J’ai 77 ans et j’étudie depuis 466 jours consécutifs. J’adore étudier la langue française! Merci pour tous vos vidéos.
Afternoon Lucile Happy Friday! I appreciate your advice on the non to great things to do over in Paris, France! Thank you so much for sharing & have a beautiful weekend! 💛💛
Another wonderful vlog Lucile with a few more tips to add to the list I've created from your vlogs. I'll be there in 72 hours!! Farewell Sydney, Bonjour Paris!
I have always found Parisians at least polite, often friendly - even when I spoke about three words of French. Mostly I was made an effort to try some words and didn't take up time in tourist spots. I still visit the Tunisian French Greengrocer I met the first time I visited. Good advice to stay in different arrondissement - Belleville is a favourite, but I often pick spots by tiny galleries/museums I haven't seen or random historical moments. Unless I need to be near the Librairie du Richelieu for study.
We spent a month in Paris this summer (mon mari est Français!) and one evening we’re having an apéro and my hubby saw you pass by and said, “I follow her on RUclips!” So tonight he showed me your videos, which I love and now we both want to come back soon. We truly enjoyed the beauty, the people, and the food. ♥️🙏
Hey Lucille 👋 thanks for another informational video 📹 of Paris. Someday I'll have to go there and maybe run into you then I would totally be on cloud ☁️ nine and give u a huge hug 🫂 🤗 your so wise and kind , your just simply one of the best people in the world 🌎 I look up to you ! And admire u a lot. Even though I'm older than you . Well, I love ❤️ u soooooo much, buddy , never forget to stay strong and always be you. Love ❤️ you again, your buddy jamie 😊
Thank you Lucile - always a pleasure listening to you showing us around. I'll be coming to Paris solo from London this Aug 22-27 in between the Olympics :) Is there anything you'd recommend avoiding / doing? If you're around, would be nice to grab a coffee as well. Cheers :)
I owe my adult daughter a trip to France. The more I research the more scared I get. My daughter and I both need to be able to get away from people when we are overwhelmed. Paris is her dream trip but it is frightening.
Yay. So excited. Can you tell me if there is much homelessness or stray animals. I know it’s an odd question but my daughter and I are going and she is so sensitive to those things. I want her to enjoy the city and not despise it like she does nyc.
My family doesn’t drink alcohol. Do you have a list of places to eat where the wine or alcohol isn’t the main attraction (for lack of better terms)? Or will all the places have alcohol at them?
it'd be great to have some insights about how to handle the JO madness... we've been in Paris for the past 2 days and it's just a massive pain in the butt...
Lucile, a question please I am traveling solo to Paris, first time there. Is it a acceptable to ask waiters, people outside to take my pictures? I live in NYC and it’s common here but I don’t want to annoy people over there and be mindful of the culture :)
Hi Lucille, I plan on going to Paris in the end of September to beginning of October can you send me the link to the Paris meet up groups? please I would like to try out this experience of meeting new people and interacting more with locals and tourist
hi! so i am an undergrad student at the university of michigan in ann arbor and right now i am applying to different cities to study abroad for winter 2025 (january-april), and the the two options that I am in between are paris and aixe-en-provence. if I plan on travelling to different cities across europe, where do u think a good base location to study abroad would be (so that I could travel easiest to florence, barcelona, amsterdam, etc.) paris or aixe-en-provence? Also, what is the temperature/weather like in the winter months january-april in both cities? super cold and rainy? moderatly cold? last thing, my fluency in french is at an elementary level, but I will be taking a french language course while I am there, if I end up choosing one of these locations, do you think i will be fine or will I have a difficult time communicating and getting around the city? thank u in advance for answering this long question. i am still in the process of deciding between studying abroad somewhere in france, italy, spain, or somewhere in the UK (I am a political science major)
We loved your video 🎉❤On our first trip to Paris, we stayed at the rue de hauteville area which was very good but unsafe at night. Which area would you recommend to stay if one wants to be close to Gare du nord 🙂
I enjoyed your video. I am trying to find out if I buy the navigo for zones 1-5, will I be able to use that to travel from charles de gaulle airport to Rue Doudeauville, Paris, Île-de-France 75018? Thanks.
Your videos are very informative but ngl I miss your travel vlogs🙂 I watched some videos of the Olympics opening and I’m really put off by it, it has nothing to do with the amazing athletes participating. I’m curious to see your take on it, to me it was just weird and not very representative of Paris’s history as a cultural center.
Londoners are also busy but I think we always try to help lost tourists or anyone asking for advice... I guess we are wired differently. I would rather find out myself than ask French person for help - they often seem bodered and unwilling (even though Paris heavily depends on tourists)...
It does but it’s not specifically gluten free! I love gluten free spots though and two of my favorite gluten free bakeries are copains and chambellans. I might do a special diets map in the future
Share a dinner means the experience of being together, not eating from the same plate, the French like to choose their dish for themselves to rat not to sample food. Sampling our dinners is NOT in the mood
I am sorry, but your videos are the same thing over and over again. Even the pictures are the same. I figured a local would have more to offer, but I guess not.
Also your map is AMAZING! Thank you!
OMG THANK YOU!! That's so sweet! I appreciate you!
Such a great guide to Paris Lucile! Thanks for this :D

I absolutely agree with what you said here about the history behind everything!!
Go up l’escalier du Montmartre. That entire area is amazing!
Go to Quebec City it’s the same love that city ❤

I lived in NY for 11 years and Paris is a short flight away! April is my absolute favorite time to go!
I didn't find Parisians rude. As Lucile said, when I approached someone with "Bonjour", then ask for directions, people were very helpful.
We were there for a week in the middle of June.....Out of the dozens of shopkeepers we interacted with, only one or two were anything less than very friendly and only one was what I'd call rude...
