I've heard of this update since Early June... It is now August, and I've recieved ZERO firmware update for this. I don't understand how others can get this update but my 65 inch u8k has not. We're 3 months in.

The peak brightness setting will elevate your black levels something fierce in HDR content. It’s just another post processing effect and is not akin to the peak luminance or peak brightness settings with OLEDs

I only really only use max peak brightness with dolby content which on this tv is very dark.

@@24hourgmtchannel64 It seems Hisense is locking the overall brightness in HDR formats behind this setting which is a shame. The U8K had no problem reaching acceptable brightness in HDR or DV before this update so this added setting makes no sense. It's a carry over from the U8N where the problem is much worse. When Peak Brightness is off on the U8N specular highlights are just destroyed. You have to have PB on at least low...which starts to kill your blacks. It makes little sense how Hisense is doing this. You can get insane highlights at the loss of blacks....or an overall dim pictures. Those are your two choices.

@HitmanMaul Yes, the consensus with many discerning U8K owners is the latest update really dulled the picture and peak brightness. I've downloaded the previous updates on a usb and are currently attempting to revert back to a few of the older updates. So far, it's giving me a message it cannot find a file.

@@24hourgmtchannel64 My U8K was just replaced with an U8N by Hisense for a backlight that flat out failed so I can't speak to the setting on there. However on the U8N the picture is disappointingly and inaccurately dim without Peak Brightness turned on to at least low in HDR\DV. Like I mentioned with it even set to low the blacks start to suffer. Not sure about you but sort of getting over Hisense. I can take an overall inferior picture compared to the big name brands given the price, I just am getting tired of there being no consistency model to model, hell even unit to unit. It's like playing a board game...

WTF is Dolby 10? HDR formats are HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision. There is no “Dolby 10”.
