Quite frankly Heron talked about going back to the status quo without asking anything so while hades can be blamed for just not explaining it, Heron just jumped straight into it without knowing anything. He came in just like Gaia with a solution that expected everyone to just forget all the bad blood that happened, that's not how things work. Him coming in and saying "all right that's enough it doesn't matter why we're here at the end of the day we're going back to way things are by the way you have to let it go it doesn't matter what it's about" that literally unreasonable. Gaia coming in and basically telling everyone it's either you guys follow the status quo or die does not ingratiate herself in fact it makes her talking high and mighty about innocent people being hurt over the fights between the gods pointless because she's about to let that happen by releasing Typhon. her speaking to Hades like she doesn't know why he's doing it anyway why he's decided now to fall to the level of the rest of his family only makes her seem like she's either unthoughtful and unwilling to understand where he's coming from or flat out ignorant. Neither her or Heron came into the conversation as if they're willing to understand why everything is happening they came in making dictates and were surprised someone disagreed.

For me, Demeter was the true villain here, because it was her possessive behavior toward Persephone, that leads to that she caused that the family of Hades was divided.
Adding thay during the events of Season 2, it was Demeter who plotted to take over the power in the Olympus, manipulating and blackmailing Hades, to used his grief and wish to has Persephone always with him, to makes that Hades work for her.
Adding that Demeter hadn't qualms in unleashes a plague in the world, only to weakens the other gods, disgarding the genocide in the mortals caused by this epidemy. And to insult to injury, Demeter had the nerve to lied Persephone, and blamed Hades for this incident, saying that this was his idea, when Hades was actually shocked and disgusted for the plan of Demeter.
Being honest, i dare to say that Demeter is far worse than Hera, because playing to Devil's advocate, Hera became a nasty piece of work because Zeus was constantly cheating her, turning Hera in a bitter and paranoid goddess. Unlike Demeter, who was a scum of goddess since the beginning, adding that Demeter hasn't qualms in harm innocent people from her issues, only to manages her selfish objectives, like when threated with leaves a permanent winter, if Persephone wasn't returned to her, making Demeter a more evil goddess than Hera if you analyze it.

    1. If Hades had to be antagonist I'm glad that they did it this way. You legitimately feel for the guy, because you get the sense he doesn't actually *want* to hurt people. Not really.
Its just that he has easily the gloomiest , but important, job out of all the Olympians which made him really bitter and as tortured as the souls he rules over. And the one person who makes it better, Persephone, isn't even able to be with him for more than half a year because Demeter throws a hissy fit and constantly threatens to throw the world into an eternal winter.
You really get the sense the guy was dealt a sh!t hand, while all the other Olympians were allowed to whatever they wanted and could indulge in their famial drama.
    2. This is a pretty accurate depicition of Gaia. She is literally mother nature incarnate. She can be beautiful, nurturing and kind but she can also be brutal and destructive if it means maintaining balance
Her summoning/birthing *Typhon* , the king/father of all monsters, in response to the Olympians being total pieces of sh!t and doing insane damage to the world with their constant bickering is pretty myth accurate. Its quite literally the planet fighting back with a walking natural disaster.
He's essentially to Zeus what Zeus was to Chronos. A being destined to overthrow and end the age of the Olympians. And he's more than powerfull enough to do it too as he straight up beat Zeus in their first round and in their second, Zeus drops a mountain on him to end the fight. He didn't actually *kill him* , just put him in timeout.

Let me just say bravo to this comment ! It is amazing to see someone as interested in this show and Greek mythology as much as me ! What are your thoughts on next season and the fate of Heron? I was thinking maybe Gaia or even Hades would bring him back as hades did for seraphim.
It would be interesting to see Gaia bring Heron back to life but I wouldn't be super surprised after she called him a "noble hero" and how she was speaking to him the whole season. They could possibly keep Heron dead for maybe a day or two, something like that, for him to connect with his mother and Zeus and for him to like "discover" himself more in a way, or to maybe look back on his life. It'll definitely be interesting nonetheless!
I know it is not easy to come back from the dead in greek Mythology, but also not impossible.
For example Hades has the power to give your life back, is not something that he was supose to do for everyone, but he has the power, take for example the time he allowed Orpheus to rescue his wife ( not Hades fault that Orpheus decided to break the only rule of the whole thing, after Hades warned him not to do that)
Another common way for Demigods is to become a full god after death, that happened to Hercules and Asclepius, after they are killed they basically evolved from demi-gods into full gods.
You have the old "drink ambrosia" option, that they used to turn the dead Psyche into a goddess so who knows if not Gaia there are def options !

I don’t really blame Hades for killing Heron. The so-called chosen one tells everyone to resume their positions and “be better”, but doesn’t even ask why they’d go to war to change things? Hades endures a different type of torture than the souls he oversees, but it’s still torture that he cannot escape from and had physically changed him while all the other gods stayed the same. He has Persephone, but only for half of the year and doesn’t have the power to really be with her. Even when she’s there, there’s a chance that she’ll be tormented the longer she stays (he didn’t even ask her to stay in the Underworld when she ate the seeds because he probably didn’t want her to be stuck down there, too). Not to mention that his children can’t leave the Underworld with their mother, so they’ll be forced to endure living there until they’re unrecognizable. He had a chance to save them all from that fate, but now the “hero” is telling him that he needs to go back because “we’re wiping the slate clean?” Hades did all this so he could use the power for good, not greed. He made a promise to his wife and kids that they won’t have to live like this, and as a tortured god, he wants to keep that promise, even if it means killing the hero.

I mean, it's quite fitting for Gaia to be an hypocrate. In the myths, she is the reason behind the Gigantomachy and the birth of Typhon (by laying with the primordial god Tartarus), and all of that to avenge her children, the Titans.
She clearly already made up her mind that if Heron failed, she would've unleashed Typhon on the Gods and the world to start from zero.

Gaia's plan is to effectively tell everyone to forget everything that happened over the centuries or as recently as Heron's lifetime and get along. That honestly is not going to work people are not just going to drop all of that because you want them to. Basically a helpless parent begging their kids to get along despite knowing that due to all the bad blood that's happened that's never going to happen. If she was paying attention she would know that Hades out of all of them was the one that's been playing his role the longest, he broke and started to play by the same rules as everyone else because in his words playing fair and being just has given him nothing.

    1. Aphrodite having wind based powers cause that was something I didn’t expect, really thought they would’ve gone with the “Goddess of Love and Beauty” route and gave her emotion or mental manipulation
    2. Athena being the first one to figure out the spores were Demeter’s plan all along; truly her living up to the Goddess of Wisdom and Warfare title. I’m curious to see if she’d have more to her skillset
    3. Hestia was a spotlight for me this season! She’s always portrayed as pacifist, calm, and nurturing but in this show she was badass! From the opening until this final battle where you can see her throwing a barrage of fireballs at everyone lol
    4. I love how they portrayed Persephone. A perfect mixture of flowers and darkness lol!

While he was wrong to kill Heron and his actions were evil, it's hard to blame him. cheated of his birthright, bound to a poisonous realm, forced to be separated from his love half a year and to see his children suffer for it. And the recents events only made things worst.
It wasn't greed, envy or lust for power that drove him. It was desperation and fear. That's why he didn't try to that to Heron. He was desperate and in a moment of weakness, he acted. It's true that he was wrong, but he was not evil.

Second season in a row where I felt for the antagonist and lowkey wanted them to win. Hades & Persephone deserved to be able to be together, with their family, in the underworld or outside it.
This season also made me feel even more sorry for Hera... she made Zeus king because she was in love and genuinely confident he was the best person for the job, only for him to turn around and be all "I'm the king, I can bone whoever I want" for centuries... and the poor woman is STILL conflicted.
Hades' problem is that he's super deeply loyal to the woman he loves to the point of being willing to do anything to be with her, while her mother effectively holds her (and the world) hostage.
Hera's problem is that she WAS super deeply loyal to the man she loved and he essentially spat in her face several hundred times until she couldn't take it anymore and snapped.

@corjonbett It is explained in S2 that this isn't the case in Blood of Zeus. Demeter lied and claimed Hades kidnapped Persephone, but she willingly ran away with him AND took the pomegranate seeds to escape her mother despite his warning her not to. She loves him, and it's made very obvious.
It is also generally the case in the mythology that she wound up sincerely loving him, and took very much to her role as Queen of the Underworld (ie. Dread Persephone). Was more of an "arranged marriage" since the original myth blames Zeus (the father) for arranging the kidnapping to begin with. Whatever the judgement decision, Hades helps Heron free Zeus from Tartarus.
With Zeus and Heron out of Tartarus they join the battle against the Typhon and save the day.
With that, the Olympians age prevails and they figure that they must change their behaviours and Gaia forgives them.
