I admire you. My dad is a jeweler diamond setter. I watch him do this over 35 years. Wish I could do it... He's working on a ring mount for my large Emerald cut green amethyst stone now.. 👍🤗🌹💎
Kudos to you for a great video making the best use of the tools at hand. When you can, upgrade to a dedicated bench and mini-torch with a 1 lb bottles of propane and oxygen as you're working in a confined home environment. Maybe start running a fan behind your chair to blow flux fumes away from your face. Wonderful to see young jewelers taking up the art.

Hi 👋🏼 do you anneal the wire?
Hi! No I do not anneal the wire there is no need to unless the wire was really thick like over 10g full round. But you can also purchase gold filled metal wire in “full hard” “1/2 hard” and I usually do 1/2 hard. If you were to anneal just make sure you protect the metal.

What barrier flux do you use?
I combine boric acid powder and denatured alcohol to make my barrier flux. I’ll be posting a video on it soon!
