Want to win it?: coffeeblog.co.uk/giveaway Quick update on pricing etc. I've been informed that the MiiCoffee version will be coming to the UK with an EU plug, which is a shame. I'm also not clear now on when it'll be available on Amazon UK. Bella Barista will have the DF54 in the UK, with a UK plug & no worries about import duties & brokerage fees etc.
HI, I'm still waiting on the release of this grinder. I really would like to wait, but I can't for the life of me figure out where to buy it from and what price I should be paying. You mention Bella Barista - it's on there for £257.99 delivered. Is that the price I should be paying or should I wait for it to be on Amazon. I'm not even going to mention the UK plug. :)
Kev, this is a fantastic review structure! I love the punchy, succinct, answering of relevant questions. Such a refreshing change from having to commit 40 minutes to monotonous monologues. Especially for the chronically impatient like I.
100% agree! I know you dont want to mention taste (and i know its more about the burrs than machine) but 10 seconds on whether the shot has more body / cleaner etc would be interesting too.....
Looks like this would suit my set up perfectly. The Sage Impress express integrated grinder is "OK" but would prefer a dedicated grinder for when I want to try different beans etc.
Superb grinder. I use the bellows, why not, and it's zero retention. Slower grind rate than bigger grinders but the ioniser has more time to work and is very effective. Purchased mine from Sigma Coffee, excellent service, and they look after warranty etc which is excellent and it came with UK plug. Purchased a stainless steel coffee dosing cup from Amazon for a few £'s. DF54 is a winner👍
The Miicoffee ´54s I’ve seen elsewhere have larger, angled rubber bit that go on the forks. It has the effect of raising the dosing cup closer to the chute for even less mess.
I was always struggling to figure out what grinder to get (for 2 years now) but this review is just great. It missed just the explicit specification if it is able to make an esspresso grind.
This appears to be a very good grinder! It is at the point of the Sage/Brevile SGP, but it appears to be the superior of the two. I would have entered the content but I don't have a UK address.
Gotta say this. This little grinder is awesome, with a UK plug (thanks Kev). And paired with Chocolate Brownie, just epic, dialled in within one cup. Next, small upgrade on the coffee machine, thinking about the Miicoffee Apex.....
I have a feeling this will be the new defining entry point to proper espresso grinding, with little limitations, for the home. Looking forward to getting my hands on it soon!
It would be good if you could do a video on brewing popular CW coffees to help beginners like me get the most from those coffees. Including a decaf option would be helpful.
@Coffee_Kev as a mere mortal who only does dark roast monsooned espresso with a bambino... is there a good reason to pick this over D40+ or esp? What would you pick?
Hi Kev, Thanks for your videos. They really helped inform my decision to buy a Sage Duo-Temp Pro. I am now looking to buy a grinder. Would you say that DF54 is a better choice than the Sage Smart Pro? I am only interested to grind for espresso. Also, do you have any new information about when DF54 might become available on Amazon UK? Thanks!
Do you think this is on Parr with the Eureka Minion crono with espresso burrs (older version)? I really loved that workflow and that thing was built like a tank. I know the EM has a 310w motor where as this only has a 150w motor. Will this make a difference on anything other than the harder light-roast beans? Any others to look into people would recommend in this £200 - £300 range? Paired with a Sage Bambino (non plus).
I'm nervous. I ordered one of these the other week while half asleep in bed and being fed up with not being able to decide between the Baratza Encore ESP and the Fellow opus. Literally saw a few quick videos, and ordered it. I unfortunately ordered from what I thought was the official site, ended up being the Singapore distributor that don't allow refunds (they tell you this after you've ordered of course). Anyway, something is on its way. Hopefully it's this coffee grinder. Glad it seems to be a positive first experience
If you ordered from DF64Coffee website, then I wouldn't stress. Takes a bit if time to arrive depending on availability (they update delivery times on their website regularly), but they're 100% legit in my experience
@@robinfriedman71 thanks Robin. Yes, from that website. It's actually tracked to a facility only a few hours from me here in Canada now. So I'm hoping for a delivery in the next couple days. Since it's made in China, that makes sense. This is a rebranded grinder. This exact same grinder is also sold under the Turin and Gemilai brands, to name a few. MiiCoffee isn't actually manufacturing this.

I think Turin could seriously take over the market if they implememted vertical mount burrs like they did with 83V Having a 54/64 vertical grinder wpuld beat out the gevi grindmaster, sculptor, and the rodocously expensive now $1200 Zerno
@@ilkzode1822 Hit the nail on the head - that's the missing piece on the puzzle. Then it will be purely down to burr preference. Mazzer 200 vs any of the SSPs.
@@RasenRambo23 the biggest drawback of all turin grinds have been the puff puff bellows, declumper madness, hit or miss retention. If those f'ers wanted to get rich quiik they would make the DF/Zerno clone. Zerno was at one point $1000 now its 1200/1300 and crap you have to sell a kidney just to get the stainlesa hopper or wood mods. Clone the zerno, add RPM , magetic chute, knocker, ionizer. @@ilkzode1822 Check out the home barista forum. A major drawback the turin grinders still have is the mounting of the burrs. I don't fully understand it but in the Mazzer Philos, the mounting mechanism is such that it can hardly be misaligned, whereas with Turin grinders that can still happen. Zerno apparently also has the better mounting mechanism as does Lagom. So there might be yet another mountain to climb for Turin.
All the 'DF' grinders are made in China in a single factory. There are many distributors over the worls who rebrand them before selling them on the end user. Turin is USA. Miicoffee are in Canada etc...
@@jackowens_ thanks for that. I ordered from the Singapore distributor. Tried to find a Canadian distributor but wasn't even on the website for pre order unfortunately. And the US site would only ship within US. Something is nearly here from Singapore so hopefully it's all good 👍
