Dave Lombardo is literally the best metal drummer of all time. His ability to play so fast with both hands and feet, and keep in such perfect time for so long is incredible, and the energy that he must have to play like he does at every gig, especially when you consider how he's starting to get a bit old now, is just amazing! He's more than just a god, he is LOMBARDO!!!
@bryon jackson Kollias is one of the fastest in the world and very precise but his style is so unmemorable and lacks character, creativity it puts me to sleep. His drum sound is very thin and weak too. I'd put Jamie Merat, Nick Barker, Dominator and others who can play just as fast (or close) way above George.
@@aditwani6562 I'm actually worried about Nick. He's very overweight and has a drug problem. Looks like he's on a steady decline and will eventually succumb to bad health. Hopefully he seeks help but unlikely.
To say that Slayer underestimated the value of Lombardo's drumming is an understatement. What the rest of the band does is great, but it's nothing that hasn't been done before. What Lombardo's doing however is phenomenal and pioneering. Nobody ever played drums like that before he did. He is the originator of that style and the perfectionist of that style.

A trigger is an electronic sensor that is put on a drum (mostly bass drum) that makes a certain sound from compressed files. Kinda like electronic drums
Triggers doesn’t mean talentless; using triggers as a mic is different than using triggers so you can edit tracks. Dave just doesn’t play high enough tempos for it to become more practical to use triggers over mics. Once you get in the 240+bpm range, you start losing the ability to discern the different notes on bass heads. There’s a few drummers that play in that range without triggers and you can see what I mean when you watch them play...triggers are just a more practical approach to very high tempos. Derek Roddy is one drummer who doesn’t use triggers and plays 250+bpm.
What every other drummer who has ever done this song is missing is Dave's sense of swing. It's not just that it's fast - when Dave does it, the song bobs and weaves instead of marches.
I wish I could leave a like each time I watch this, there will never be another drummer like Dave Lombardo, he changed the way metal drumming was played and recorded , he was responsible for the other drummer's in the thrash metal scene at that time, stepping their own game up, he made everyone want to progress and get faster and harder double bass playing,a lot of people have no idea how vital to the whole double bass playing in the death metal bands of the 80s ( deicides Steve ashiem has named Dave as one of his main influences).
Dave Lombardo was mentally fast back in the day. I can't think of many modern fast drummers who don't name him as a major influence. You can hear the changes and the intensity of his playing so well on this video. Thanks for the upload!
When Dave says "Is This Good Enough" He is Kidding. He Invented This Style of Drumming and I'm Glad He is still Him..Humble..Not Soured by the Shit that went on in internal Slayer. +Edosardo73 So Kerry and Tom should have just hung it up? Spent all their money and done guitar camps for Sam Ash? These guys knew what they were getting into. Slayer haven't put out a bad album yet, IMO and lots of bands can't say that that are way bigger.
verve92 Ok, i'm not saying that albums without Lombardo are shit, but Dave is the most important death/thrash drummer of all time, he is a great musician. I remember when Reign in Blood was released in 1986 and i heard it for the first time, it was a real kick in the face (the brutality of that album still amaze me!) and Dave's drums had a big part on it.

Never tired of watching this awesome piece of art. When I heard him live in 2006 on this song I thought I was dreaming (the whole band was impressive as well tbh 😃)
Every time I’m around a drum kit, I play this video and attempt to mimic the man w/ thunder in his veins! I’m convinced that Dave Lombardo is Dimebag Darrell in a drummer’s alternate universe. How Dimebag was on the axe, Dave is the exact same on drums with ferocity and pinpoint precision style of play! Goes without saying that 2 of my 4 all-time greatest line-up spots go to Dimebag and Lombardo. I love Vinnie Paul-God rest the soul-but Lombardo is just so technically proficient as a drummer. If Lombardo played on Vinnie Paul’s kit, eargasm would be an understatement!
I had the absolute honour of seeing Dave play with Slayer back in 1988 when they toured the South of Heaven album - words cannot convey how good he is playing live - one of the most intense concert experiences of my life. I was in the pit for most of the gig - and also crowd surfed right in front of Tom Araya - he threw me his bass pick, which I still have to this day (still taped inside the tour programme!). Amazing memories....

I saw Dave as Suicidal Tendencies' drummer recently...he did the famous double bass part during one of the songs and I nearly went to heaven and died, I was so happy
Never tired of watching this awesome piece of art.
When I heard him live in 2006 on this song I thought I was dreaming (the whole band was impressive as well tbh 😃)
5:22 Did he just ask "Was that okay?" Dave, come on man, don't do us like that.
Dave Lombardo THE BEST DRUM OF THE HISTORY OF THRASH METAL
Dave Lombardo.....One of the best and most honest. Love this guys drumming.
I'm not a drummer. That said, Dave is by far the best drummer in metal. He is a beast! I love this video.
27 seconds of pure fucking double bass solo!! The man
0:22 is when my wife spends all of my money on clothes.
hahahahahahaha...
When you step on a Lego
Don't you have a ton of money?
Anonimni Profil hahahaahhaha
LMFAO! Bwahahahaha!
Hahaha! The howl at 5:00 is just perfect! X-D
I was fortunate enough to see Slayer a few times with Dave. In a certain way, the show was literally one big drum solo. Fantastic.
I love at the end he says "Was that ok?" jokingly. Yes, Dave, that was more than ok. That was godlike.
They will regret, one day, having disrespected this man! Not the most technical but the BEST drummer for SLAYER
Bruno is there is full interview that isnt chopped up I can watch on here about what happened i keep watching this video over seems like he was being fucked with alot for no reason.
not the most technical? the dude was pretty much flawless, what do you mean?
@@panrick he means there are faster drummers out there but he was the perfect fit for slayer
@@santeripitkanen5059 faster and technical are not the same thing. Lombardo plays with feel, and he's technical. that makes him the best drummer for Slayer
4:06 i am like: what?!?!?!?
That fill was fucking insane.
everytime i get up in the morning i go on my knees and thank the person who uploaded this video, i return here at least once a week...
Dave is so badass! 30 years later, And still kickin ass💪
This is Fucking insane drumming! Dave "thunder" Lombardo, Godfather of double bass
This guy is a flat out drum god. I have seen him play live and have watched countless videos. Every time amazes me. His talent is ridiculous.
I love how their engineer doesn’t use overheads. He just close mics all of the cymbals. Sounds so clean out front.
HOLY SHIIIITTTT! That was amazing, it's like witnessing the birth of creation!
I barely got home from work... And watching this have me with insomnia... Long life to my countryman Lombardo 🤘🤘🤘
way to go Lombardo. the best drummer ever in thrash metal.
Never played drums a day in my life and get goosebumps watching him play.
He's an absolute warlord with those drums!! I remember a Slayer concert I went to and the floor vibrated like fuck from the double bass. An experience i"ll never forget!! The man's a fucking legend!
Quelle classe Dave !!
Thanks guys so much for this. This is one of a kind here.
This dude is most of what made Slayer "Slayer".....
Excelente Dave Lombardo. Slayer sin él no es Slayer.

Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. It's a thing of pure joy. There is only one.
I was so lucky to see Dave back in 2005. Hands down one of the best drummers on the planet.
