Great reaction and commentary! Have been closely following Band-Maid for eight years now and they never cease to enchant and surprise. Each member has unique talents and personalities which combine into powerful expressions of sheer musical enjoyment as evident in their song "Freedom." The band's founder, spokesperson, rhythm guitarist, and backing vocalist, Miku Kobato, is also their primary lyricist with consultation from the lead vocals. Saiki Atsumi. Miku is a master lyricist who has the rare ability to seamlessly blend her native Japanese with English words and phrases in order to bring a degree of familiarity and context to the songs they play to a mixed audience of fans. Japanese and English are two very different languages and there is often no direct translation between the two. A long, detailed Japanese phrase could be summarized in a few English words and vice versa. Miku says she keeps a notebook with her to write down interesting English words and phrases that she encounters so that she may later incorporate them into her lyrics for a new song. Miku's doesn't write fluff, but rather she writes about what is really important to one's life and well-being. Themes such as the inevitably of loss, change, self-confidence, determination and focusing on one's goals to make them reality are some of the common ones, but there are many more of note. Combine great inspiring lyrics with incredibly great music performed by truly elite artists and one is listening to one of the greatest bands currently playing on the planet. Po.

Saiki used to be the "Ice Queen" but that was back in the early days of Band-Maid because she was so shy and came off as cold. That is not the story today and many consider her the Princess now. Never heard of Kanami being called a Princess.....ever. She is Mincho, or Kanamincho. Miku is the Queen, the Pigeon Matriarch of Band-Maid......The Boss.
But in all reality they are whomever you want them to be.....nothing is official.
Mincho was the princess to her ice queen back early on because she protected kanami and mentored her reassuring her writing abilities miku is the mama pigeon but now saiki is just the queen now becof the way she commands the audience and princess is just Mincho as she told the audience in the 2023 usa tour I call her minchozilla for her shredding guitar misawill always be the barefoot assassin and the gorilla akane because of her love of bananas
While the 'Domination - Live' video is great to show just how freaking talented each of the members are, this video shows just how much joy they have performing. Akane never fails to make me smile.

As a fellow old school headbanger(70's Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath), I couldn't agree more. It's been a long, long time since I wanted to actually purchase an entire album...I've done it twice with Band-Maid and also a blu ray concert. They might not be strictly heavy metal, but they do go hard. I think the amount of talent and ability in this band is so under appreciated. Eventually, they will conquer the world with their music. Great band to react with, nice job!

If I'm not mistaken this was the first song that Miku (little pigeon) wrote lyrics for. They are very basic but like everything else about this band, her lyric writing has become better and better.
Your right on the lyrics. The first full song written completely by Band-Maid and accepted bye their label to go onto a album is "Alone".

Band Maid will always make you smile and never stop surprising us. I describe them as “hard rock fusion” because they bend and blend genres within a single song.
Their latest official live “Don’t you tell ME” is one of the fandom’s absolute favorite songs. That, alongside “Moratorium” will appear in nearly 100% of Maidiac top ten lists

The Maids performing one of their (two) most performed songs: Freedom and Real Existence. But the Maids in this MV are pure perfection, aren't they? I mean, what can you fault? And those faces... their attitude... their music... their playing... their story... and their joy! Band-Maid is a world treasure, imo! Some metalheads can be pretty strict about their definitions and what they think is good. That's the only reason for pointing out that Band-Maid describe themselves as "impossibly hard-rocking." As far as I can tell metal can run the gamut from early Black Sabbath to Megadeth to Ministry to Korn and beyond. Band-Maid bends to punk but they don't really stick to anything in particular; just whatever makes them happy. They can be pretty thrashy at one moment, progress another, rock and roll another, and then pop punk. It's one of the things I like about them.
'Metal' is such an umbrella term. In the 80s there was a whole sub-genre of crossover metal bands that were hardcore/ metal. It's the reason why moshing became a metal thing. Stoen from hardcore punk shows! Thank you!

BAND-AID? Don't worry, it happens. Small Pigeon is somewhat literal.. Little Pigeon would be more correct. BAND-MAID consider themselves Hard Rock, though Metal is certainly among their many influences. Some of their heavier songs include, 'Rinne', 'Black Hole', 'Different' and 'Shambles'. 'Unleash' is pretty heavy, but more Punk or Power Pop. And yes, Akane is known as Gorilla because she is banana powered. Originally she was known only as "The Beast", but she also seems to be part Drum Machine because of her complex and ever changing patterns and fills.

News subscriber, keep up the good work. Although I am not a metal head. I appreciate a lot of what. Not only what Band Maid does. Which is obviously more rock and hard rock than metal. But the all-female five-piece Japanese metal group Nemophilia does. If you haven't reacted to any of their stuff yet. Do yourself a favor and start out with their covers of classic rock songs from years ago first. And then there's this funk metal band out of Indonesia. These three tiny job wearing . And then there's this funk metal band out of Indonesia. These three tiny hijab wearing Muslim woman. And then there's this funk metal band out of Indonesia. The band is called VOB. Which is an abbreviation for, Voice Of Baceprot. Keep up the good work.
