HUGE Thanks Sty for featuring me! My SR High this season was 3994 but I never quite got to GM and I NOW KNOW WHY. In terms of my positioning, I have multiple games where I go for the more "sniper post" Ana but I find I consistently get killed by Tracers/Genjis/Winstons and I ask for the Team to help but they mostly never do. This in turn is why I usually end up huddled to the team so if a flanker is after me, the distance to travel isn't too far away from the point to kill him. Ended up playing for about 2 hours practicing my sleeps/nades on AI Tracers/Lucios and I'm glad you enlightened me on the "use the grenade not just to accelerate healing but also to anti the enemy." I'm fixing my accuracy but I ain't no McCreamy. PS. I'm keeping Tips on, I ain't GM yet! For people complaining, I just picked up Ana for Masters (I'm a Rein/Zen main)
The positioning on Ana on route 66 is a difficult one. With dive being all over the place staying with the team can help you - but on Route 66 specifically they almost always dive the top of big earls. If you're towards the back, out of range of the dive, you in theory have more chance of helping the team. Just make sure to close range and get ready for the team to jump down and contest the payload.
I once told my Ana I had tac visor as we were heading back to the point. She nano boosted me when I left our spawn. So it was gone by the time we got to the point.
Im fine with genjis cause double jump is quite predictable. What I hate is soldiers crouch jump crouch left right left left right left right right crouch jump. They fucking disturb me XD
So idk if I should believe sty about staying behind the team, or top 500 support player KarQ who says to stay close to your team so divers which are popular picks right now wont kill you so easily. tbh staying closer to your team makes sense because they will have a quicker response time. when youre so far behind you can easily get destroyed by genji and/or tracer. Not sure how i feel about your advice tbh.
Sevendogtags Well that's the point isn't it. there is clearly a reason stylosa isn't a top 500 player. I want to be a top 500 player so I'm trying to learn from them. Of course there is more than 1 playstyle. you can play damage Mercy, doesn't mean it's a good or useful playstyle. What would be cool was if he could combine his own knowledge with knowledge gained from players better than him to give his audience the most useful information. that way, both him and us will be learning through this series. just some constructive criticism.
Stylosa, you're wrong on what u said with the positioning with Ana. Ana needs to be with the team, not far back. Especially when the dive comp is in the meta. The team needs to back u up if like a winston or a genji etc is attacking u. Dont stay far back from the team. Although, stay behind the team but not too far.
Harry Attwood at that level, the soldier, Mcree should be able to protect ana, plus she can defend herself more by sleepdarting, grenade and more. Plus if they get into team fights and can heal effectively and not get killed unless 1 of them flank her, which if she lands nade or dart she should be fine
I think it's for showing people how a more high-rank than them play (As rank you should have better aim, better positioning and sleep dart moments. (Which could learn some Ana players more.) But when you see this and hear what he does right/wrong, you can try to get a better overlook over your Ana playstyle. :) (I'm trying to a better Ana, so I'm trying to hear about where you should stay, try to focus who with sleep and when to use grenade.)
Wolf He looks for all rankings so everyone can see and understand what each tier level should play like and how they play... we learn more from these higher ranked games so he picked a character that is usually played mostly in higher tier
FKProds Rank may not matter, but at higher skill tiers players need to have above average accuracy abd know where to be positioned and know when and when not to do a certain thing
It's kinda funny, sty says take the high ground so much when I'm playing I can hear sty in my head yelling to take the high ground, it actually helps lol
I watched this earlier today and afterwards, my Ana game got so much better. My average healing went up, sleep dart went up and deaths went down. Positioning is really key for Ana. Before, I always accept that a Mercy teammate will always outheal me, but not anymore. You’re right; Ana is a main healer too. Thanks for this video, dude.
I've started playing Ana in bronze and on PS4. I had no longer been enjoying competitive until I made the swap, and better win rate when I play support. Thanks for this overanalyzed, will def help step my game up to silver.
I disagree with some of these positioning comments, especially the first one. Dive is way too popular in these new comps for ana to be by herself easily getting flanked or dived on. Additionally, the visibility from that position is not great. Eventually his teammates would drop down to stall the payload and he would have no way to heal them except walking around and severely exposing himself.
Was curious about the video since i'm a 4200sr ana main myself. Agreeing with most of the video, except for a couple of points. 5:09 Looked like a reflex heal to me. He couldn't predict that the soldier would back off after receiving that spike damage. Giving him the burst heal would've saved him there if he didn't. 9:10 Nobody was near him/high enough hp to do so. If you were in a position to use the ult, put it on a tank as a last huzzah. This will increase odds of him picking off a target and stalling much longer than a carry. (not saying its impossible, but unlikely. A nano'd carry can still be 1-shot by roadhog etc.) Great example of when to use it as a last huzzah: 23:43 12:46 Always use her defensively, and throw only when comfortable doing so? One of her best aspects is denying the heals. If you can safely estimate you won't be jumped. (no genji or monkey near you) chug that thing into their team. Your flankers on that SR know how to capitilize on this. (great example follows shortly after with the roadhog) The more you use it the better. 13:30 i get the idea of you wanting to secure it, and i would've done the same, but using the info from the killfeed is also crucial. 3/6th of their team is taken out which were 2 tanks and 1 dps. He was still surrounded by more team members that do more damage and can easily secure it. 19:29 no shit XD 26:50 Great nade if you'd ask me. Too bad it didn't connect for a burst heal combo. Nothing wrong with it. 27:35 Again, not a wasted nade if that connected. Would've denied her healing from her own nade if she had it. It's like a roadhog scenario, but with ana. 28:13 If he dies, they die. Heal yourself before the team, always. Those are my pointers on this vid. Cheers!
I think players would really start to realize just how good the high ground is if we just renamed the low ground to die ground. High ground vs die ground (they also rhyme!)
When u were talking about using nano for the last fight, I think it's not just a throw away to hop for contest. 1. It wouldn't have done anything because a pharah ulted tight on top of the last three people within range of nano. 2. If you have enough time left on the cart push wait until your teams pushed out of spawn because maybe that ends up being a retake
at ana's first death there was no further back. she was probably healing mcree hoping mcree could deal with the pharah. using the sign cover meant losing sight of the orisa who died. leaving that cover left her open to zarya. fight went sour when they gave up high ground. fight was over when they lost their dva. yes ana should have had her nade, but that dva went down fast while ana was looking elsewhere.
I would argue that some of the "panic nades" like the one on Soldier were still good nades. Sure, in hindsight it was a wasted grenade. But in the moment, Soldier was at very high risk of death with no way to know if more damage was incoming. He was headed to cover, but we've all been shot just before reaching cover. You have two risks: 1. Wasting the grenade when Soldier didn't need it. 2. Soldier taking a bit more damage, and dying when a fast heal could have saved him. I think it's obvious which option you should pick. One is a cooldown, the other is losing your main DPS. Yes it was a wasted nade, but I definitely can see the decision making that took place, and would consider it a good call.
I'm a plat Ana, with 100hours+, but looking at this, I have better positioning and I know when to use my nade and sleep better than him? Only thing is that he has better aim, this makes me think if I have better aim, i easily be in at least diamond
the ana combo doesn't work on tracer unless you shoot her before you sleep. Its because tracer can recall before you land your nade and wont die. The new rule of thumb is primary fire then sleep.
I've occasionally just hail married a sleep dart into somewhere randomly because it puts the fear of god in the enemy team if a sleep dart whizzes past their cheek, and it pisses them off if they get slept out of nowhere
If Sty says, that THIS Ana aim is good at this level...i disagree. I'm cringing on the floor in disagreement to what he stated. It simply isn't true. You don't miss shots on point blank range. not a single one. _This ana player doesn't seem that comfortable playing the hero Ana. Whatever the reason was, he tried his best which is all that matters but you cannot, by any means, call this good ana aim for mid masters. I'm sorry, but this is incorrect.
Well that was one of my points basically, but what im saying is that you cant expect Sty for someone who should be critical to say it is good when it isnt. His aim isn't bad , but it's simply not good enough. And shouldn't the reviewed player know? Because most of the things Sty says are in regard of positioning or aim. In this case he should have been more critical about his aim, but that might just be me though. I just don't find it fair for someone who sent his replay in to not get critizised in all honesty, you know what im saying? This Ana wants to become better, so why hiding issues.
So here's the deal with the nades. When you start missing with the Rifle, it's really frustrating, so you throw the nade because it's a lot easier to hit. I'm not saying it's the right thing to do, but it's just what we do.

I once told my Ana I had tac visor as we were heading back to the point. She nano boosted me when I left our spawn. So it was gone by the time we got to the point.

I sometimes ana boost mercys or sombras just for shits and gigs
It's really hard to keep genjis alive who are jumping all over the damn place
Mr. Moose Ya must be playing with some bad genji’s since they should just dash up when ulting, helps with getting nano and picking your targets

I'd take KarQ's advice on Ana over Stylosa's any day. 1 is a consistent top 500 Ana main, the other is a mid GM soldier main.
There's more than 1 playstyle and not everyone is a top 500 player!
Sevendogtags Well that's the point isn't it. there is clearly a reason stylosa isn't a top 500 player. I want to be a top 500 player so I'm trying to learn from them. Top 500 is better than GM? I thought that rank dosn't matter.
not to mention behind far back means you have to stay in scope to effectively heal, making you even further vulnerable for flankers.
Check list:
Best healer:hanzo
Best tank:tracer
Best dps:Torbjorn
Best defence: reaper
Best hero:stylosa
Omnitar /Endermago yeah but only on certain points watchpoint Gibraltar is really difficult but I do agree with you
best defence is genji. esp against a winston and zarya
Runner you are dumb tracer is not a tank
Anthony Meza hanzo is not a healer that's the point of the comment 😂🤣
Anthony Meza you are dumb it's a joke
Sty: "Get on the high ground!"

No
Yes
Did someone challenge your world view?
The_Waze also if they have a good tracer you must stay with your team
Well, listen to what he said in the begining ;)
his positioning in the beginning is good in my opinion. if he was further back he would have been vulnerable to like a genji, pharah or a tracer.
yeah, i agree. team can't help you if you get flanked
The point is the flankers had no issue killing him while killing his team.
If he was farther back they'd engage on him and then he peels to team.
sty, we need to talk about these thumbnails. they are getting out of hand.
I swear if Sty says take the high ground one more time I'm gonna send him to space.
why were u looking for a master ana i thought rank doesnt matter
Wolf u got him
I think it's for showing people how a more high-rank than them play (As rank you should have better aim, better positioning and sleep dart moments.
It's clearly to prove rank doesn't matter. Look* at those accuracy percentages. (Edit: Oh my god that grammar.)

I was at 1500 SR and watching these got me to 2100 in one day. Thank you so much for making me better!

ZaFsii same
Even though I'm in Grandmaster, I always watch these videos and learn so much. You can never stop improving!
lex is a zen main, i wouldnt really expect much from him

How am I in gold and have the same accuracy, healing, and kills as this guy?
Survivor Soul teammates
Survivor Soul my best games are lot better than this and i am bronze!
Cuz bad?
Survivor Soul If it's your first season playing comp, you should eventually reach your proper rank. If not, you are doing something wrong.

Absolutely terrible Ana in consideration that he's in Master.
Amit B I believe he is a zen main, and he just wanted to improve his ana
He isn't an "Ana main". But as of now, he's starting to play her more often. Normally, he plays Zen.
*INSERT COMMENT ABOUT HOW SOME GUY IS BETTER THAN HIM AT ANA WHICH IS WHY HE SENT IN A VIDEO TO IMPROVE*
Absolutely terrible comment in consideration you are a top 500
I would argue that some of the "panic nades" like the one on Soldier were still good nades.
Sure, in hindsight it was a wasted grenade. But in the moment, Soldier was at very high risk of death with no way to know if more damage was incoming. He was headed to cover, but we've all been shot just before reaching cover.
You have two risks:
360p SQUAD!!!!
As an ana main, I usually never burn both the dart and nade. The reason being both allow you to scare off or escape from 1v1s.
Let me guess, good aim, bad & overused joke. Please Stop.
what I've learned from this video: Reinhardt's size makes him easy to hit
I'm a plat Ana, with 100hours+, but looking at this, I have better positioning and I know when to use my nade and sleep better than him? Only thing is that he has better aim, this makes me think if I have better aim, i easily be in at least diamond
Zythong yes you would
Zythong hes a zen main, he wanted to improve his ana
Zythong he's not a Ana main man he's a really good zen

:DDDDD The 'Good Old "Electric Cowboy" treatment' IT ALWAYS MAKES ME LAUGH!!! :DDDD
Let me guess Ana can't aim
I love how sty always acts as if he's the best at every character
Playing ana like this in overwatch world cup would be classed as throwing the match
Obviously he's a casual master player. World Cup is pros.
the ana combo doesn't work on tracer unless you shoot her before you sleep. Its because tracer can recall before you land your nade and wont die. The new rule of thumb is primary fire then sleep.
Does anyone know if he accepts console game clips?
Volcann III yea
Volcann III he does but it doesn't seem like he cares much for it
ThatTransChickPlays does that mean he won't do the coaching on them
Volcann III he's only done one I think

When you make a video coaching about positioning with ana JUST RIGHT
Can't believe this is a master Ana... This is clearly diamond Ana. Bad aim.
hes a zen main, he wanted to improve his ana

Styolsa's Egyptian Ana impression is hilarious
Can we pls stop making the good aim bad positioning shit joke
