We explained we had no way to know which homes they were until the customer calls us. One lady then told me that the Sheriff's Department had closed the main road going back into town so she stayed in her beach home for the night. She said she heard what sounded like three tornadoes. When there was enough light out, she told me she ventured outside. The house to her left was gone. The house to her right was gone. The house across the street was in twigs. I asked "And you're upset over a late notice? Sounds like Someone was watching after you." The next day, I got another irate call over the same issue so, to calm her down, I told her the story of the first lady. It didn't have the intended effect. "I know who that is!", she remarked angrily. "That's Mrs. (deleted), isn't it? She's the only one I know who's stupid enough to sit in a beach home in the middle of a hurricane."
I drove that shoreline one time going to Port Arthur TX from the shore you can see the gas refinery on the water. This was a few months away from Katrina.
Question: Are the stilts which elevate the houses required to be inspected for damage/integrity after events such as this, or is that left up to the homeowner?

You wouldn't understand, it's hard to explain, this place is just special. Personally I live 32feet above sea level in webster tx and have never flooded but I live near these coastal places like Galveston, I love it. You'd have to grow up to understand, it becomes your home and you love it no matter what.

I lived in Sugar Land for 15 yeasr. These places always flood. People don't think much of it. That's why they built their houses on stilts.
Between 4:26 and 4:36 there is a strange dark blotch floating in the sky. Look closely and 2 others appear though somewhat faint.
