I take a look at how Galveston lifted itself from the sea after the nation's deadliest natural disaster, the 1900 storm. The Galveston Grade Raising is one of the most monumental civil engineering projects in Texas, and many Galvestonians take it for granted every day.

All the amazing work these men did all those years ago…the skill, vision and determination to save their city. Awesome report.

Your presentation of the Galveston 1900 Storm is the best I’ve ever heard and watched. You do a remarkable work in Galveston Unscripted. Thank you.

We are happy that the sea level hasn't risen since the seawall was built. Just look at the old photos and compare to today.

Good video. In South Florida at 3 feet above sea level, we just build miles of taller buildings on barrier islands and throw hurricane parties before the storms arrive.

The one picture that I’ve seen over and over all my life was the raising of the Hotel Galvez

The Galvez was built in 1911, just after/during the grade raising. So, not quite raised, just built on top of the new grade!

ALSO, half a mile from along shoreline. We're better build NON CONTINUOUS SEA WAVE BREAKERS with LIFE SEA SHELLs, like oysters and clams, with zig zag placement to tame down beach erosion and clean the water

Good thought…could start a whole new industry there as well as protection.
