What I have seen. What I have done, so others can sleep without worry. Will astound the common citizen.

Tier Talk goes straight to the heart of corrections. It comes from the heart of warriors who have stood on the line and have held that line with Pride.

I am so thankful that I don't have these "bad managers" Anthony talks about. Listening to both Russ's and Joe's stories involving the violence and self injurous violence they experienced was highly interesting.

We absorb the trauma so the public does not have to.

I watched my partner get shanked 13 times and he lost an eye and a lung before we could get to him bc we had to wait for a supervisor to enter the pod so I was beating and kicking the slider door to try to get in to help him. Our very overweight Lt. seemed to take forever to get there. He was last one to show up and all we could do was watch. That needs to change and fast! The one thing that saved his life was he was a really big muscular guy and that kept the shank from going in very deep. He made the big mistake of letting the inmate walk behind him and he attacked him from behind. The inmate had stewed for 2 years when he had a lil argument with this officer. He used dental floss to cut a piece of metal from his bed.

I retired after 22 years in a men's level 4/5 prison. The events I witnessed were comparable to your stories in this video. We were trained well and told not to develop an emotional attachment to any inmate. Watching this video brought back so many memories of happenings during my 22 years of service. It does have a bigger effect on some officers than it does on others. My sense of humor has become twisted so much so that several friends think I should seek a mental health evaluation. I had been working down on the hill for 20 years when I lost my dad in 2019 and my mom in 2020. It was difficult for me to deal with my inability to cry. I think it was because of being desensitized after spending so many years in this career. Any thoughts on this?

Whats that meme "Sometimes I don't realise an event was traumatic until I tell it as a funny story and notice everyone is staring at me weird'. I, and so many of my colleagues resonate with that statement so much.
"When you are trying to de-escalate a concern and the other inmates want it to keep going and going" That statement right there. I try to explain to new recruits that you can sum this job up sometimes by saying 'you are trying to get people who don't like you, to do something they don't want to do, in front of their peers who don't want them to listen you".
Even 15,000 km apart (or 9 and half thousand miles for you guys) the similarities between prisoners/inmates are striking. Having those who commit egregious acts of violence and then calmly wait to be handcuffed and taken away is still something that takes a mental leap to get used to.
