I’m definitely not the first person to have this thought, but I like the idea that stand-up comedy serves a unique function for getting a lot of philosophical feelings that would otherwise never have a chance to be heard in popular media. No matter what form of entertainment you see everything is shaped through a lens and stand up seems to be the most pure and honest place for any kind of story being told.
But when you are trying to bring ideas in an entertaining or especially funny way, you are bound to skip nuance and say very little. Leave it to philosophers not comedians, much different incentives.
@@KINGBublepop I agree with you. I think it’s possible to have both. Nuance is also a useful tool in comedy to emphasize duality and open-mindedness on any given topic. Louis CK as controversial as he may be he has used nuance as a fulcrum on really hot-button issues with massive success. Curb your enthusiasm is essentially a show of what Larry David is living through. The show itself and how it uses comedy to make light of unspoken truths and generally accepted experiences of the civil contract is another example of how he sees the world through absurdism. Comedy can emphasize the importance of nuance on the heaviest subjects and beliefs of how to lead your life _sometimes_. You make a great point that it is a medium designed to draw audiences. As such it is a form of entertainment and should not be taken as enlightened ethical or moral superiority or affirmation of beliefs as justified. Great point.
This is so pretentious lol. You do realize 99% of standups are garbage and spend their time doing bits like stoolhumping? Get your head out the asses of these so called comedians.
That’s why we love you Joe man you are humbled even at your level by others. That’s how I am wanting to be a stand up comedian I look up to this man. Just as a person and a comedic genius. He makes me laugh like all comedians do. I love watching standup because you can feel the shift in the crowd, just with a joke. Dave loves it and has perfected it!!!
Dave is my generations Richard Pryor. He's one of the few comedians that'll make you laugh and think and inspire all at the same time. There's a reason he can't be cancelled.
Dave has always been my number one comedian, even when powerful people were slandering his name and trying to say he's gone crazy. I never believed that B.S., not even a little bit. Dave is truly the top 3 goat of comedy.
I went to see Chappelle and Rock at the O2 Arena in 2022. The whole line-up was crazy, but Chris went before Dave, and Dave's entrance and subsequent set made Chris' feel like his set was a warm-up opening act. There's just something special about Dave. And rightly so.
Old Dave would never have associated himself with people like Rogan. He'd have called him out for not having any good jokes. At least Dave had some great moments, Rogan had none
This speaks to how damn humble and how little ego Joe Rogan has because he not only was completely fine getting switched like that but he filmed it cuz he knew Dave is maybe the greatest comedian at least alive! Then he is so humble he talks about it more! Good on you Mr Rogan
I mean Joe is a pretty confident guy. He doesn't have to do insecure stuff like constantly have to prove himself or get everyone's validation all the time just to feel okay.
Right??? I mean it was HIS show, but was more than happy to step aside and give Dave his moment. 99% of ppl in his shoes would have been either pissed they got outshined or sad/want pity

Dave Chappelle is an amazing person and truly talented human being that I will always admire! Truly special
Id give Dave a standing ovation the entire time he performs.
…you sure about that? His sets can go pretty long. Have you seen his 3hr improv sets???
@@naomieadair5635 you're damn right I have haha but since you reminded me, you might be right.
Get up off your knees. You have some Dave juice dribbling down your chin bro 😑
🤡
Calm down. It’s just some guy telling jokes.
Dave is the Goat!!
And rightly so.
we love us some Dave
Agreeed
new dave sucks. old dave is the king.
Old Dave *was* the king. The new Dave *is* the king now
Old Dave would never have associated himself with people like Rogan. He'd have called him out for not having any good jokes. At least Dave had some great moments, Rogan had none
Always & forever 💪🏾🔥
Dave Chapelle is the MJ of the comedic world (choose your MJ😂) and just all round loveable guy.
They tried hard to cancel him but only made him a legendary
don't get it twisted, "they" are the elite industry snakes. not some made up woke leftists 😃
Not even Dave could cancel himself!
"they" fucking loser
Made him legendary, made him a legend
He's cloned
I love the picture joe paints on the experience. A vibe like that challenges u to put words together in order to describe it!
Beautiful!
I saw the GOAT live when he went to the PI. Something I will forever treasure. ❤ #MVP
He's a clone
He is the undisputed GOAT of this generation and he deserves all the respect and praise!
❤❤
He was pissed and embarassed hes telling this to out david for being an A HOLE READ BETWEEN THE LINES.,...
"ITS MY SHOW". "DIDNT KNOW HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE".
(LOL WUT) He wasnt supposed to be there
@@Peter-w4s1eI don’t think you’re correct. He’s just speaking the truth. It was his show. I mean let’s not pretend Joe Rogan doesn’t have an ego. First comment is probably riding his D a little hard but I think it’s likely Rogan was authentically stoked to see the crowd go nuts for Dave.
That's because he is a good guy
Dave best comedian ever, can make anybody CRACKUP
Norm Macdonald, then Dave. I mean no disrespect. Dave loved Norm as well.

He’s respected because no money in the world can buy him, his values and what he stands for.
Dave is so beloved by people that he is literally
In ever since of the word uncancelable. You can bend his words and twist them, take them out of context and lie, but when your soul is that pure it’s filtered through the bullshit and your lights always shines.
over a decade ago I'm just like walking down Portland Street look over and freaking dave freaking just chilling freaking cracking jokes like wtf is going on!
I literally thought I was tripping and like for a couple minutes
No one gets cancelled by saying jokes lol, dont be so dramatic.
On top of my head i only know Louis CK got cancelled for real, and it wasnt even because of jokes, and now he's back touring and specials like nothing happened.
Dave's the type of person that is genuine, everyone can appreciate that.
Could tell Tony wanted to look at Joe and he like “holy shit” but seen he was recording so just nodded 😂
Why Tony looks like Tony Stark? Lol
Dave is an absolute legend. No questions about it. The man is good for the earth at what he does. 💯💯💯
I was this show at nationwide arena, it was the first big name stand up show I ever went to. The crowd was so loud you could feel the whole building shake. It was pretty awesome.
Now go check out some open mics and see the difference, and realize the vast majority of comics start there!
Same, only comedy show I’ve ever been to but when Chapelle came out randomly I knew it was special. The crowd almost killed it too with their “let’s go Brandon” chant. But Joe and Dave told them to shut up and it stopped real quick 😂
Yall gonna recognize.... him & Marion Berry is D.C's OWN 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Okay? LMAO...i was like, huh? he's not from Ohio! Lol
@@pniki7834Same!!! Smh
Amen
Being a part of this situation (if you're Tony or Joe) has to be one of the greatest feelings ever.
Dave is so down to earth. I love his integrity. A good guy all around.💯
I got goosebumps!!! Love Dave!!! So thrilled that I had the opportunity to see him perform live - right here in NY. 🗽
You talking about the birthday bash ? That shit was so sick
Dave is the 👑
Dave is cool as hell in person too. Hes good to us Ohio folks
@Tommybraga WTF?
Dave is one of the *few people* who has consistently called out the 🐂💩 when he sees it and also he *stood on principle* at the exact moment when the temptation to sell out was at it's strongest 💯
Love love love Dave
Ever since half baked I loved Chappelle
Thanks for sharing these moments. We all dream of being there for moments like this, wether it be for yourself or s friend or just any other human being , it's amazing and super fulfilling 😊
Chappelle is a legend. A master of his craft, and refused to sell out. One of the few real ones.
I went to this show from Pittsburgh, It was exactly like this.I kept telling the people next to me that Dave Chapelle will probably suprise everyone and show up since he only lives 30 min away. Got to give him a high five when he came out.
He’s not from Ohio he’s from the DMV
He's from the streets bihtch!
He meant, since Dave took up residence in Ohio, he has been treated as a native. So Ohio shows love back.
@@scLefQSURE
@kaizen20205Chapelle has owned a home in Ohio for 25+ years and has lived there for 20. He’s an Ohioan.
Dave Chappelle is actually from Washington DC born and raised. He's lived in Ohio for 25 years now.
Bro getting to see Dave Chris rock and Donell all in one night was so legendary never forget it
Dave...well deserved ovation.🎉Stand up❤Freedom of comedic speech❤🎉
My favorite comedian on this particular planet
Do you have a favorite from Mars?
I'd like to see him open for Gleethrop over at Zeta Reticuli. Would be legendary; no.. straight up hallistruvelork even
I was at the show and it was flippin amazing! Our floor seats were the furthest from the round and right next to where they entered the basketball floor
That awesome! I can only imagine the amazing time you had. Do you know if they streamed this show?
Chappelle is a prophet; his stories have so many layers. For those who actually listen, and reflect, there are lessons to be learned. These aren’t mere jokes, although they are also that. If only church were this entertaining. So much value, particularly in bringing people together, at a time when so many are trying to divide us, and tear us apart.
Chapelle not just a comic he's a philosopher a thinker and man of unwavering opinion, walking legend and journey man ✌️

Dave Chappelle did it his way. Never ever sold out and spoke his truth no matter the cost. Inspiration not only to comedians but the human character in general
Joe got a taste of what it is like to be a funny comic.
He deserves one full hour of recognition
Dave Chappelle is a national treasure.
Big facts 💯😂

@@BruceJohnson-om5kl Just weird you started with that. Stern has done countless horrible things to people, mostly those close to him. Playing with a guests ashes of her best freind who OD is one of many scummy things he's done all on video/talk show.
They were just happy a real comedian was there
Dave is the presence that makes all other top shelf comedians say.. Time to move aside, Daddy's here....
Dave got that same reaction in Boston the night everyone got their feelings hurt. The GOAT.
