It looks like Su-metal has the power of breaking me every time with this song. No other singer can do that. She is the best at conveying the emotions. And to think that they take this song off their first album because she wasn't happy with her performance feels just surreal. To the point that this song has become a rarity since it premiered live in 2013 (Legend 1999) and it was performed only at Budokan 2014 Black Night, Tokyo Dome 2016 (also Black Night) before these two Legend S shows in Hiroshima. They played it again twice at Budokan 2021 for a total of seven times.
Everything on this performance is heart breaking:
- The intro here relates to the effects of the nuclear blasts on the population.
- The context: the first concerts without Yui and the last before Mikio's untimely passing.
- The way Su sings it is incredibly beautiful... and emotionally devastating.
- The way they produced this video (right after Mikio's decease), focusing on him as Su sings "We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you forever. If the dream continues, I wish I'll never wake up from it."
Viewing Legend S Baptism XX was a total challenge for me... and a devastating experience. I only watched it once and I seriously doubt I watch it again.

Nice reaction. Best rock ballad. Su can move folks emotionally. She has that gift. Someone should have warned you to have a box of tissues ready. You're not the first and you won't be the last to shed some tears while watching this performance. Mikkio is a guy survived by a wife and I believe two kids and all his students and fans. When folks watch this with other people present, you can see them try to stiff up and not let the emotions of it all get to them. But this song is best when you let it get to you. As Su has said "Don't Think, Feel". Babymetal did this song again for the 10 years of Babymetal and added a dramatic pause and another surprise. You'll just have to watch that performance to see that. Some of the cool things that Babymetal does during live concerts is the little changes they make to the performance of the song. Sometimes it's not so little. keeps the song fresh for them and as I like to say. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.

Pretty much my same reaction every time I watch or hear the song. The song is about overcoming loss. It was Yui's first missed performance (which lead to her leaving the group a year later), and it was Mikio Fujioka's last performance before his untimely passing. So for fans, it hits doubly hard.
And in addition, Suzuka teared up, which to my memory, has only happened in this one performance. I think she nearly teared up at the Tokyo Dome performance of The One when she saw all of the lights. But she held it in. Moa and Yui didn't.

SU's mentor, MIKIKO told her that singers needed to feel the emotion in a song, but also that you must never cry on stage. SU was on the verge of crying, but held it, and this is why I feel this is her best performance of this song.

This is my favorite performance (Legend S 2017 concert) of my favorite Suzuka solo.
Sadly this was also Mikio Fujioka's last performance as he would die soon afterwards at age 36 succumbing to injuries from accidentally falling off an observation platform while stargazing leaving behind a wife and child).
This was also I believe the first performance by BabyMetal after Yui's untimely departure because of health issues which at the time was believed to be temporary but sadly she ended up leaving officially in 2018.

This song is embedded in my top 5 Babymetal songs and to me this version shows off Su at her most emotionally powerful, specially at the part after the guitar bridge in the middle where you can hear her voice slightly waver and see tears welling in her eyes. This version is from Baptism XX - Legend S for Su's 20th birthday and after this performance she wouldn't sing it again until 4 years later at the 10 Babymetal Budokan shows.
I have watched this performance so many time, and it still makes me cry every time. Fantastic!

It has the same music structure as Legendary band X Japan 🇯🇵 "Endless Rain" but with a different arrangement. A tear-jerker when listening to "Mikio Fujioka" guitar solo because he's such a phenomenal guitar maestro gone too soon. "The Legend Baptism XX will be 'Mikio Fujioka' last concert with Babymetal before his untimely passing in January 2018".
This is special for Su and Moa especially Su because she got to perform in her hometown of Hiroshima. After the guitar solo, you can hear Su voice wavering as she tried to hide her emotion. Su owns this performance. Her facial expressions and mannerisms coincide with the song. The show at the Nippon Budokan for the 10th Babymetal anniversary is awesome.

This performance is very special to Su-Metal because it is performed in Su-Metal hometown of Hiroshima. A su-Metal grandmother is a survivor of "the hibakusha" of the Hiroshima bombings. You can hear Su-Metal voice wavering after the guitar solo. This concert is also without Yui Mizuno "Yuimetal" who withdrew from Babymetal due to a health hiatus and "Mikio Fujioka" last concert before his untimely death on January 5th of 2018 after suffering injuries from an observation deck fall while stargazing.
It is 75 years since the US dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6 and 9 August, leading to the end of World War Two.
Those who survived the bombings are known as "hibakusha". Survivors faced horrifying aftermath in the cities, including psychological trauma.
The bombings brought about an abrupt end to the war in Asia, with Japan surrendering unconditionally to the Allies on 14 August 1945.

Hey PTB Empire, check out Akatsuki Unfinished. That one is also pretty hard hitting. Also, there is a Filipina singer named Morissette Amon who also is able to invoke emotions pretty good too. Check out her song Could You Be Messiah One Take. She has an AMAZING voice just like Su, but she has a Mariah Carey vibe going on.
As for this song, Su has always been reluctant to sing this song and has tried a few times over the years but was never truly happy with her performance so she would stop for a few more years. She felt she wasn't mature enough to be able to do this song justice and convey the emotions and love this song deserved. During this performance which was her 20th birthday concert (thus the Baptism XX) while she was singing this song she saw people in the crowd crying and she FINALLY knew that she was able to do this song justice and was satisfied with her performance. Funny enough, she's done this song one other time after, but as far as I'm concerned, this one was and is still the best version.
