This performance in Hiroshima (Su's home town) was her "birthday live" = Legend-S (You're probably aware of Legend-M for Moa's birthday and Legend-MM for Momo's BD), but due to Yui being absent for the first time with only Su and Moa performing, along with the song being about a person in a sad place but trying to be strong knowing that somewhere there is a rainbow(thus the title), Su was about to cry, but kept strong because her mentor (and choreographer MIKIKO) taught her that a singer must be able to feel the emotion of a song, but should NEVER cry on stage. This is why many of us fans feel this performance is her best. About Mikio: This was recorded Dec. 2017, but the Bluray came out Aug. 2018. As you know Mikio passed away Jan.2018. When Su sings "Though I know I will never be able to meet you again..." they overlay Mikio in the video, so with this knowledge this song always brings me to tears. This is a very special performance with Yui being absent for the first time and it being the last performance with Mikio (RIP!). I don't think Su was ever so close to break character as in this performance ❤ Great reaction and analysis as always guys!
This video was shot in Hiroshima, Suzuka Nakamoto's hometown, when she sang. Her prayers are still being conveyed to people all over the world through this video.
@@monkut I don't think so. Her voice catches but I think that was just her putting emotion into her performance. I think this one was her actual emotion.
This performance has such an emotional impact considering it was the first show without Yui and the last with Mikio. It's a shame Su's solo songs don't make the set list anymore, but then again, Noone wants to see a 50 year old (me) sobbing in the middle of a rock show. Babymetal and Slipknot at CDMX was AWESOME last weekend 🤘🦊🤘
Great reaction to a beautiful performance of a beautiful song. Su is an amazing vocalist, you can feel the depth of her emotion. I'll be seeing BabyMetal for the first time a week from tomorrow in Cincinnati and I am totally psyched. So much so that when I played a BM video after I secured my ticket I was short of breath and felt my heart racing. Of course I turn 69 on Monday so maybe I need to see a doctor about that lol. And as I tell everyone, we are not a cult. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for this nice reaction! I think it's a very special and moving moment for Su-Metal to be singing at home, in front of those who have seen Suzuka grow into the beautiful and talented young woman she is today.
Nice reaction! Very beautiful power ballad song!☂️🌈🦊 Unfortunately, guitarist Mikio Fujioka (left) passed away in 2018 due to an accident while stargazing. May he rest in peace, Mikio Fujioka, a wonderful guitarist for whom this was his last performance as the KAMI-BAND🎸

⚡ / ☂ 🌈 'No Rain, No Rainbow' is a very rare BABYMETAL song. It's been performed only seven times since its debut in 2013. And never outside of Japan. As far as the lyrics are concerned, this is what Su-metal had to say a few years ago: "Sure! 'No Rain, No Rainbow' might be the least metal song of our repertoire and it’s been with us for three or four years now. This song is a total fan favourite though. You can interpret it in a romantic way but we like to think about it in a more open way. It is about simple human feelings of love and loss and how the value of certain things we have in life is only perceived in dark moments. At the beginning, we admit we couldn’t completely understand the deep meaning of this song. But this song has helped us develop not only Su-metal's vocal techniques, but also our way to express our emotions through this song the more we performed it." There are a lot of reasons Su might have been emotional at these shows. At the two 'LEGEND S - BAPTISM XX' concerts in early December of 2017, Su was about to turn 20 years old, the traditional age of majority (adulthood) in Japan. These are the only times she's performed with BABYMETAL in her home prefecture of Hiroshima. Yui was supposed to perform at this concert, but was unable to appear because of unspecified health reasons. The introduction just before this song refers to the bombing of Hiroshima during the Second World War. This intro was added for these shows. That doesn't mean the song was originally written to be about that event, just that they were drawing a connection for these two special concerts in Hiroshima. The last line of this song is: "An endless rain fills my heart, forever." That's a reference to X-Japan's song 'Endless Rain'.
Thanks for the reaction, been a while since babymetal, The Legend ( PIA Arena 2023) and Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai (Budokan 2014) are some others that would be great to listen to!
While the song itself is a sad one and Su has always been good at emoting when she performs, it feels like you can see a lot of emotions in her eyes: it was her 20th birthday show in her hometown, but without Yui being able to perform at short notice it was an unfamiliar situation. She has said in interviews her and Moa were unsure how the audience would react to the change without much information having been made public about it in advance. But still she delivers an amazing performance as the talented professional she always has been.
Nice reaction! A powerful ballad that always makes me cry when I hear it, especially considering the moment in my life with losses that I'm going through. This performance has several meanings too. Mikio Fujioka's last show, first show without Yui and the first show in Suzuka's hometown.
I'm surprised you hadn't gotten to this yet. Yes, it has an 80s retro feel, which is probably why it's my favorite Babymetal song. Legend S was a great concert. Su's hometown concert where she was on her A game all night. Yui couldn't perform, but Su and Moa were hyper prepared.
Agreed with the 80's feel to this song. I used to skip this song at first but once I saw this version, it hit me so hard and is now one of my favorite songs (and I almost cry every time I hear it, especially after the solo when it slows down 😀). It also reminds me a little of Heart's Alone which came out in the late 80's.
@@zabber67 That's an interesting comparison. 'Alone' is usually considered another one of the best female vocal performances. Ann Wilson is also one of my favorite female vocalists, and Su is my favorite of the younger generation. My top 10 list of songs are pretty much all 80's ballads (or early 90s) but No Rain, No Rainbow, is the only one from this century and the only one not in English on my list.
@@poohbear4702 The piano part is pretty similar, which is probably why it reminds me of that song. The One is another song that would have fit well had it come out in the 80's. I can just imagine Freddy Mercury's voice singing it 😀.
The Legend S Baptism XX concert in my opinion is the most striking visual show that Babymetal has ever done, it's an absolute master class on stage production . The opener "In The Name Of" is the most metal thing I've ever seen. The closing song "The One" is stunning as Su walks the length of the arena like a queen down a walk way of clouds, it's so emotional when you realize the significance of what was to come. One of the things you realize watching the show is how strange it was with the absence Yui, it was awkward with only the two doing their signature choreograph however as a duo Su and Moa nailed it.
It is even more poignant when sung in Hiroshima, SU's hometown 😭 And this song was written at a time when Japan was still mourning the loss of so many people in a massive earthquake and tsunami. In fact, I was healed by this song. It gave me a positive feeling to remember the many lives lost, but to live with hope.
Watch it again with the captions, one aspect (the lyrics) you might be missing. Then you can understand (more) what Su was feeling and how the song relates after this performance.
Welcome back - but are you saying you didn't get tickets for the current US tour?😲 Su-metal first performed 'No Rain, No Rainbow' in June 2013 at the Legend 1999 concert, so it was ready long before the first album was released in 2014. However, Su was not happy that she was doing the song justice emotionally and that she was concentrating more on getting the notes and the lyrics right than she was thinking about or understanding what it meant, so she did not want to record it for that album. Only when she saw somebody in the audience crying as she sang this song (probably at the Budokan in March 2014) did she realise she could effect people emotionally with her vocals - only then did she feel she was ready to record the song - it was included on the second album which was released in 2016. 'No Rain, No Rainbow' has still only been performed live 7 times - Legend 1999, Budokan Black Night 2014, Tokyo Dome 2016, Legend S (both nights) and twice at Budokan 2021. You picked the definitive performance from Su-metal's 20th birthday celebration, Legend S Baptism XX, in her home town Hiroshima in December 2017. They pulled out all the stops for these shows including the only time I can recall them having live piano and strings on stage with them The two performances at the Budokan in Tokyo in 2021 were also very special and a bit different - worth checking out. As you read, Legend S was the last time Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP) played with them before his tragic accident at the end of 2017 when he fell from an observation deck where he was star gazing and died from his injuries in January 2018. It is surely not a coincidence that as Su-metal sings the line "We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you for ever" the camera focuses briefly on Mikio.
I have so many things to say about this song and specific performance... but my brain short-circuits when it hears the word "anime" and refuses to continue working. It's a shame.

Some say Prince's Purple Rain was inspiration for X-Japan and Guns N' Roses were inspired by 1 or both of them. What we do know for certain Babymetal was inspired by at least X-Japan and maybe Guns N' Roses as well.
One of my favorite Su solos, you can see her the emotion in her eyes. As for a song recommendation I would really like you guys to listen to two of my favorite Babymetal songs Maya or The Legend! (both performed at PIA arena)
Nice reaction. Babymetal singing a true rock ballad. This is the song that proved the ladies of Babymetal aren't just told what to do. Su famously withheld this song off their first album because she felt she wasn't ready to record it. Feeling she couldn't get the feeling right. it wasn't until she saw fans crying in the audience that she agreed to record it for their second album. That's a lot of power for someone so young at the time. Made me wonder what other songs did Su or Moa or Yui and Now Momoko say um Nope. Or just flat out turn a song down. Or as Su is their leader do they let Su decide these things. Well maybe not the Black Babymetal songs. Song 4 happened because Yui and Moa wouldn't stop singing it while on tour. So, they put it to music. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.
@@stevechevy3382 Yeah, I'm not sure which concert she was referencing specifically. I think some of the die-hards would know. I do know they were already emotional when the intro started at Legend S, if you find the fancam and hear the crowd audibly gasp when the piano intro begins. You can't really hear it on this proshot version. But I think it was an earlier concert where they were first crying, right?
Something told me , ya'll would stop and interrupt the song.. you were doing fine with comments while it was playing.. but stopping an epic song like this is unforgettable.. it could have waited another 3 minutes.. it lost the momentum and the feeling you get listening to it..
Started thinking during this song, and your analysis.... Symphony, Power Ballad, excellent production, twin guitars, clean and clear vocals.... the Moment of Glory album by the Scorpions w/ the Berliner Symphoniker -- particularly, but not limited to, Wind of Change. This song could have been slipped right into that album, seamlessly.

It is 75 years since the US dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6 and 9 August, leading to the end of World War Two.
Those who survived the bombings are known as "hibakusha". Survivors faced horrifying aftermath in the cities, including psychological trauma.
The bombings brought about an abrupt end to the war in Asia, with Japan surrendering unconditionally to the Allies on 14 August 1945.

A great song and this is well close to the sound of X-Japan Endless Rain
SU-METALの20歳を祝う記念ライブですね。
YUIMETALがドクターストップで参加できなかったライブでもあります。

これが、KAMIBANDとして最後の演奏になりました。
The song is inspired by X-japan's Endlessrain

It's baby metal's version of a powerballot
She made the right decision, too. Her first performance of this was not up to her standards at all. But then she figured it out, and it became iconic.
@poohbear4702 I want to see the performance where she someone crying. The power of Su's vocals moving them
@@stevechevy3382 Yeah, I'm not sure which concert she was referencing specifically. I think some of the die-hards would know. I do know they were already emotional when the intro started at Legend S, if you find the fancam and hear the crowd audibly gasp when the piano intro begins. You can't really hear it on this proshot version. But I think it was an earlier concert where they were first crying, right?
@poohbear4702 I have the legend S DVD blue ray
@@stevechevy3382 Nice. Great concert, huh?
This is a very emotional song. Not anime.

Hi! Just noticed that you too will react to some K-Pop songs like "How you like that" and "Pink Venom" from Blackpink (plus Rose's APT) and also songs from BTS and Babymonster, etc.
Please react to "Home Run" (ruclips.net/video/-Jcq8CDALjg/видео.htmlsi=LShmnDSnUSLvhQ9z) from a recent famous girl group named "Collar" from Hong Kong. "Home Run" is included in their very first released EP "Unit 1201" recently. Enjoy! Thanks!
Hey brother ..request the godfather theme song by alip bata cover..thanks brother god job..
The only Babymetal song that ever got onto one of my playlists. I wished they would have more like that, not really a fan of that whole hopping around stuff.
Have you listened to their song, 'The Legend'? If not, you should give it a try. It's more like NRNR.
