Not everybody likes what BABYMETAL is doing, and that's fine. But seeing a show like this, it's hard to deny that they are amazingly professional and know how to entertain a crowd.
You are correct, you cannot deny the professionalism of the whole operation, Backed by some of the finest musicians around, The Kami Band, and a top-notch sound engineering crew, which you pretty much find at any Japanese venue concert. And to think that the girls started working on this in 2010 when Su was 13 and Yui and Moa were 11. And Su's voice is just kick-ass and not atypical for an Asian singer. They brought an entirely new genre to metal and have become a huge hit globally.
You know, my whole life I have always kind of gotten crap for my choice in music. I love metal, country, rock, shoot I like bands like Guster and Dave Matthews Band. That's a preface for saying my taste is random AF. However, lately I really have noticed my tastes for media, both video and music, has been shifting. I really enjoy Korean media and Japanese media and getting to know these different media styles, I have really fallen in love with the anime style metal music. Not related, but I have also really been digging Polyphia. I guess what I am saying is. While it may not be for everyone, it's really ok to enjoy it. It's frigging cool. Plus, it makes me feel like my head will just turn into a chainsaw and I can rip through demons.(chainsaw man reference, I'm an adult don't knock till you watch it, it's very metal!) lol like being able to daydream you are in a manga... anyway I'm stoned medicinal 420
I always love when reactors react to Road Of Resistance.... there's always that "Is that little girl really calling for a wall of death" in the beginning.... And then you see the "oh shit" look when they realize that a 5'2" Asian girl called for, and got a big ass wall of death/mosh pit, is hilarious. Love the sing a long part with the fans... I think they added that part in just to give the drummer a break before his legs fall off. 🤣🤣🤣🤘🦊🤘
Great reaction. As you read, this video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (actually several walls of death at that concert as the crowd were in sections. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, I think it was, 21 mosh pits). This was also the end of a 90 minute concert and yes, they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world. About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. Herman Li and Sam Totman from the British power/speed metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. The studio version is shorter - this had a very extended sing-along section as it was the first time they'd played it at a big show in Japan and, as this was the official video, they actually cut that outro short by at least a couple of minutes - the girls went to each different side of the stage to shout "We are ... BABYMETAL" with as many of the audience as they could get near to.
5:05 Reaction start. Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥 Glad you're back with this suggestion and enjoyed this like fans are enjoying this recently live at Sabaton's Europe Tour in every night of the concerts. _Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and the album version got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce, and is all about facing your own path without looking back. The wall of death is nuts just like you noticed, is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride. This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015 series of concerts, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena, is the last song of the encore they performed and finishing the show. By this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment. With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages. The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians who were send to help the girls with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males. BM fans love some members of this band but none of them are official members of this group not even permanent, they only play live, so when you heard album tracks remember they aren't playing there. In this case they are: - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording certain songs. - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar or golden in other moments. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japanese music scene. At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to making them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed to X-Japan saying it at live concerts too. If you like this type of metal genre then you're gonna love another previous song from first album called *"Ijime Dame Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 and witness a precious and epic moment on their career. You can find that clip in the official channel but just be careful coz sometimes is getting blocked issues. Another suggestion safe to react is: - _Headbanger!!_ live at Legend 1997 held in 2013, you can find a clip safe to react at Gans Tomas channel under "Head Bangya" title. Thanks for sharing this and hopefully this won't be blocked See you next time! 🦊🤘🔥
Some clarification regarding the guys in skeleton costumes and the actual musicians in the white robes. The guys in the skeleton costumes are called "Babybones" and they were used in the early part of Babymetal's career 2010-2013 when Babymetal hadn't yet gotten big enough to justify management funding a full live band for their performances. Starting in 2012, the live backing band, known as the Kami Band (God/spirit band) was introduced, mixing in performances with Babybones, depending on what event they were playing at. From 2014 onwards, Babybones was retired, and the Kami Band took over fully and they have played at all of Babymetal's live performances since then. Although the lineup of Kami Band varies depending on who is available, there are a group of performers who appear very often in the lineup, they are; Mikio Fujioka (guitars; sadly passed away in 2018), Takayoshi Ohmura (guitars), Leda Cygnus (guitars), Isao Fujita (guitars), BOH (bass), Hideki Aoyama (drums). The band for this performance at "Legend 2015 - The New Year Fox Festival" was Leda Cygnus, Takayoshi Ohmura, BOH, Hideki Aoyama. Since 2019, there has also been a band made up of American musicians, who perform as the Kami Band for Babymetal's European and US tours, including the current European tour. They are CJ Masciantonio (guitars), Chris Kelly (guitars), Clint Tustin (bass), and Anthony Barone (drums). Because there are now two Kami bands, fans tend to refer to them as the Kami Band of the East (Japanese musicians) and the Kami Band of the West (American musicians). Dragonforce have been longtime supporters of Babymetal and have helped them along on their journey on several occasions. In 2015 they snuck Babymetal into Download festival in the UK and gave up some of their set time to allow Babymetal to perform "Gimme Chocolate" (with Dragonforce filling in for the Kami Band). The popularity of this performance led to Babymetal being invited to play Download the following year, despite the promoter previously saying Babymetal would never play Download. They also stepped in and performed with Babymetal at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards 2015 with Babymetal when the Kami Band could not make the trip to America for the awards show. Babymetal also have a friendly relationship with Bring Me The Horizon, who they have toured with in the UK and Japan on several occasions, and who they collaborated with on the BMTH song, "Kingslayer". When Babymetal went on their first tour outside Asia to the UK in 2014, BMTH made sure that they felt welcome at their first UK festival at Sonisphere (which would go on to be one of the most important shows of their career).
That was the last song of a full 90 minute show and trust me, they didn't slow down for a single moment. The video doesn't show the 4 minutes or so before the final shots where the girls went to each side and kept chanting "We are!" whilst the band went full ham all the time.
Su has the most intense 'death metal' stare. Great crowd control. Imagine being her kid getting in trouble. Mom's death metal stare sends eye daggers at you telling you the jig is up. I agree that in Japan each member of a group gets the chance to shine.
It's not actually a Strat; it's an ESP Snapper 7. It's Ohmura's own signature model that ESP makes and sells. You can buy one if you have a few thousand dollars lying around.
Watch Babymetal - "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" and "Karate" - Live at Sonisphere 2014, UK (official). In these two historical performances, Babymetal proved their talent live. It's exciting and unforgettable to see these kids in front of thousands of thrash metal fans, with courage and determination!
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 [ Congrats! BABYMETAL will go on co-headliner North American tour with DETHKLOK in August through October (26 concerts + 3 festival appearance in 23 US states + 2 Canadian provinces) ] The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. American fans also did it in every show in their 2019 US tour (20 gigs). In your video, Su shouted some words at 14:15 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then or she does it smilingly with her friendly voice now. The girls have grown up into beautiful ladies. The maturity has added more attractiveness to this band. Please react to videos including recent ones to explore BM more.
Can’t wait until my time. Only three concerts so far (tickets), but definitely going to add more for my favorite ladies. I understand it’s a co- headlining tour, but Makuhari was perhaps the best concert I’ve ever been to. Well worth the $10,000 USD. These ladies are unmatched.
Moa and Yui (the dancers) do some vocals, but most of the harmonizing you hear is a pre-recorded vocal track. It's not to take anything away from Su's live vocals, but just to add depth to the melodies, and perhaps to keep the sound of the studio album as close as possible.
Great reaction again, thank you for posting. This is certaintly one if their great performances, and Babymetal have so many more. I would suggest Headbanger at the Legend 1997 concert, where Su-metal celebrated her 16th birthday; it is a seething cauldron of awesomeness. Also Ijime Dame Zettai at Sonisphere 2014 where the girls played their first major gig outside Japan and knocked the socks off 40,000+ British metalheads who were wondering what three Japanese girls in red tutus were doing at their metal festival 😎 Enjoy the journey, there is so much fun to be had.
"I would suggest Headbanger at the Legend 1997 concert" Suzuka was born in 1997, so I doubt it. I know - an obvious typo but laughing with you, not at you. (Fox God rules!)
I'm so happy I'm going to see them live again in a few weeks. Babymetal live just hits different. Su-Metal's stage presence is no joke. I'm a big guy and long time metalhead and this small Japanese woman's death stare intimidates the hell out of me. 🤘🦊
Another excellent reaction, thanks! I just checked it out and this song starts at 1h 25m point on the Blu-ray track. And their intensity is crazy at that point of the show, after a really demanding performance. Seeing Su putting the chants back in tempo is pure gold. She was just 17 at the time and already a seasoned performer. It helps having click tracks and clues on their IEM. This MW was took directly from a Blu-ray production and they just cut short the extended outro. That also means that they may add harmonizing tracks on post production (it's very usual). They are insanely good at live performances. It's almost unbelievable, but it's a fact. Until next time! 🤘🦊
What I have noticed from watching thousands of Babymetal reaction videos is that reactors, who are musicians, producers or anyone with a role in producing a performance (show) are always complimentary of the group. There has bern none of these petty comments like they sound so "poppy" or they don't play their own instruments so they are not legit BS. For true professionals in any performative art production, the talent and hard work that these girls/ladies pour in their show is obvious. We are so lucky to have witnessed this amazing experiment. There will never be another Babymetal.
Very good!!! That was the closing song for this show. They also opened with this song (Tokio Dome Red Night - 2016 -- audience of 55,000 people). No two songs are the same, each song is a surprise. Always with metal elements fused with pop, rock, in one song there's even a rap section. Visit Babymetal every now and then, you'll like it. My suggestion for a next reaction would be "Catch me if you can - Legend 1997", it's from the same show as your reaction to "Gimme Chocolate!!", but in the second part, with the Kami Band playing live.
Some fun facts: This song was written as a collab with Dragonforce's Sam and Herman. The Kami band really killed it. But they were only at 75% power. If you want to hear them going full speed. Check out the Su-Metal solo song "Amore". Another thing of note. The crowd. They have their own Choreo. Usually directed by Moa and Yui. Su also has a few moments depending on the song where she directs them as well. If you want to see the wildest crowd experience check out the song "Headbanger" Live @ Legend Metal Galaxy day2 2020.
Great reaction with professional view! Su-metal is practicing full swing singing on the tread mill to sustain this power and the quality of singing in the concert. This is one of the big differences from other big name pop bands relying on back trackings.
In many fans opinion best version of ROR . Wherever they go in the World they get this response. You said the experience and that is what BabyMetal live is an experience everyone should have . Once the shows over your planning how you can see them again . Just seen them at Wembley Arena and they announced they coming back in November already got tickets for both nights at a back to back show in London at the Roundhouse. Will 4th and 5th time seeing them . They are addictive ❤️❤️❤️😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
I'm glad you cam back for another reaction. If you continue your journey down the fox hole, you will see BabyMetal's music covers all types of Genres. Some may be more poppy like Give Me Chocolate, then you run into a power metal song like this. Road of Resistance is a song about forging your own path, not necessarily the easiest one. The guitar arrangement for this song was written by Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce. I laught with in the original comments for this song one user said he had to pause the video just to give the drummer a break :) .
Those session musicians are insanely good. I've watched videos of the guy with the pink guitar giving lessons and it's amazing how fast he can play with such little movement of his picking hand. He can pretty much sing most of the notes on the fretboard as well. If you want a bit of shock factor, try Babymetal Death live from Japan. #notacult
Ive watched the original video a lot of times but you saying that she gestured for the crowd to part was something I had never noticed before. Great job guys.
Fun fact Babymetal was initially banned from performing at download festival The festival owner not seeing them as legit until DragonForce snuck them in they have since played download festival 5 or 6 more times without having to be snucked in a true story 😊
hate is such a strong word. I don't really listen to them, but I appreciate the skill they possess and I'm happy for them in the success they've had. Wagaki band is another band I think is unique and good, along with Nemophila.
Thanks for this reaction. Babymetal, is not your average metal band, but it also allows them to do things no other metal band would do. Babymetal has regular session musicians for live performances, but they currently have both a western (western musicians) and eastern (Japanese musicians) live band. And they've performed at big shows in Japan with both bands playing at the same time for the last song. Yes, the guitar parts of Road of Resistance were writen by the guitarists of Dragonforce. Dragonforce also ones performed this song live with the ladies of Babymetal at an award show. Funny thing is: Herman Li of Dragonforce in an interview mentioned: Road of Resistance is faster than some of our songs ! And they never expected to have to play it live. 6:27 "not her first rodeo", but it might very well be for the crowd, because this was only the 3rd time this was performed live, the song wasn't released yet. It was performed in the UK ones and at a fan-club small venue in Japan and then this show. At times when Babymetal perform, Yuimetal and Moametal (who are not the lead singer and thus do a lot of dancing) choose to have some of their voices in a song be handled by a backing track, it differs by setlist, even show/venue, etc. In might also be related to how hard it is to capture their singing (again also depending on venue), because their microphones are uni-directional, so they can pick up a lot of background noise and becomes hard to mix. 10:32 one reactor said in the slower section after the very fast section: "ohh, they take a break after that !" :-) This was a 16 song setlist, the last 3 songs were the encore. Yes ! Babymetal is an experience, very good. That is exactly what they are aiming for. Babymetal actually has a song called: Arkadia PS Hope your band does well as well.
Great reaction! Loved seeing your reaction when she split the crowd without a single word. Keep in mind, she was only 17 at that time too, but she already had that much power and control over the crowd. In terms of intensity, the main singer can keep that intensity easily, but one of the dancer's, Moametal, would not be able to keep that intensity. You see in the beginning when they were supposed to keep intensity, she actually DOES flash that famous smile of hers at the end. Anyhow, you're correct, the band itself is actually just the 3 girls, however, they do allow the musicians have the spotlight now and then too. The three girls are named Yuimetal, Moametal, and Su-Metal. Su is the main singer and will always have the hand mic. Moa and Yui don't have hand mics as they do the majority of the dancing and running around, but do have the handsfree mics as you pointed out. At this age, Moa and Yui look pretty similar and many people have trouble telling them apart, So Moa will the be the one with the huge dimples in her cheeks when she smiles while Yui has the chubby baby cheeks, also Yui has thicker hair. Su-Metal will always have her hair done in a pony tail while Yui and Moa will have their hair done in pigtails. In 2017/2018 Yui left the band for health reasons. To fill the void Babymetal brought in 3 girls to take turns doing the choreo (but not singing) that Yui performed. They named these girls, the Avengers. When you're reacting to Babymetal songs, if you see a girl with no face-mic and she has neither pigtails, nor a ponytail, but instead has little hair buns where the pigtails would have been and the rest of her hair is down, then you're looking at an avenger. Also, I don't know if you noticed, but Su's outfit is slightly different than Moa's and Yui's, and the avengers, again, have a slightly different outfit as well. In April of this year, Babymetal announced they had a fulltime replacement for Yui. This replacement ended up being one of the avengers. Her name is Momoko. Now she is known as Momometal. Momo now has her hair down in pigtails and has a face-mic like Moa and sings now too. She has a nice voice and it lends itself well in harmonies with Moa's voice and Su's voice. Another thing you're going to learn is that Babymetal songs are quite different from one another. As I'm sure you noticed, this song is quite different from Gimmie Chocolate. Get used to that. Each song is pretty unique to each other. It is kind of nice as you don't really get bored of this band, and I think that song individuality plays a big role in that. Anyhow, great reaction, looking forward to more Babymetal reactions!
Su is harmonizing with herself on backing track in some parts of this song (I think). Su has a pretty wide range. She is in her fierce mode on this one not her cutesy J-Pop mode. Moa and Yui are harmonizing with her also on certain parts.
Nice reaction guys! If you really want to see the Kami band up front, check out the live performance for Rondo of Nightmare with the God's of Mischief intro! The intro features a solo from each musician 🤘😊🤘
This song was the last of a sixteen song set, and the third and last song of the encore. The concert setlist is as follows: Megitsune Iine! Awadama Fever Akatsuki Onedari Daisakusen Catch Me If You Can (with Kami Band intro) Uki Uki ★ Midnight Song 4 no Uta Mischiefs of Metal Gods (Kami Band Performance) Akumu no Rondo (Rondo of Nightmare) Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! Gimme Chocolate!! Ijime, Dame, Zettai Encore: BABYMETAL DEATH Doki Doki ☆ Morning Road of Resistance It looks like you guys are on a BABYMETAL roll - keep them coming!!! We are . . . BABYMETAL!!! KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘
As Grington300 300 said, They had THAT much energy on that song after already performing for 80 minutes with the same energy the entire time. The Kami Band included. I don't know how Hideki (the drummer) was able to walk or use his arms after this show. The girls give it their all the entire time and no matter how large or small the show. Always makes me happy when people have an open mind and allow themselves to enjoy something new or different. 🤘🦊🤘
I would equate going to a Babymetal concert with going to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show. You better be prepared to participate or just don't bother going if you're not 🦊🤘
If you haven't seen BabyMetals: Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live (kami band is the main band associated with the 3 girls, they are highlighted in this and its super HEAVY) or Megitsune music video then you can't get your Fox badge yet 🦊
These young women have no business being this experienced and professional at their age. They are a commanding presence on that stage. Holding that huge audience in the palm of their hands.
Prople in the West doesn't understand Japanese entertainment industry. Western people assume everyone in a Band should all play instrument. It's not always the case in Japan. Take my all time favourite band called "fripSide" as an example, they started as a Dual, one is a singer, the other is song writer and composer. After they became popular, they would hire session musicians for studio and concerts. After they grew really big, some sessional musicians became the constant members. However, in front of the media, it is always the Dual, even though every fans know the backing musicians very well. And, some of the backing musicians have stock to the Dual for almost 10 years. Yes, the Dual called themselves a band, and we called them a band. Babymetal is similar to this band. YOASOBI is another rising Dual, very popular worldwide, not sure if they will grow into a conventional band or not. Idol culture just dominated the entertainment industry of Japan for decades before Babymetal established. The success of Babymetal was not only attracting people come to listen metal music, but also encouraged Japanese female musicians to form a conventional rock band or even a metal band. Before Babymetal, I would say any female band would be overlooked and not blessed in Japan. I hope this will explain a bit how Japanese entertainment industry works.
This performance is just mind blowingly phenomenal. I listened to about 10 different songs of theirs before this on a regular basis, but once I saw this show, I fell deeeeep down the fox hole. I already admired them, now I just can't get enough.
Since you guys saw Road Of Resistance's performance you should definitely react to Ijime, Dame, Zettai at Sonisphere 2014, it's an amazing performance where basically most of the audience didn't know them and they dominated the entire audience with an age of only 15 and 17 years. I will look forward to another reaction to BABYMETAL, good reaction.
I love the professionalism that Su-metal shows at 12:50. She has the in-ear beat and has to get the crowd back on time so the instruments can come back in. It is a small detail but stellar job of a front person of a band.
Baby Metal isn't my style of music that I enjoy, but I respect the heck out of em for their showmanship, and the hard work they obviously put in to make that caliber of spectacle. They deserve every bit of their fanbase.
You really need to check out a mischief intro so the best one is Rondo of Nightmare Budokan Black Night with Mischief of the Metal Gods intro The msuchief intros allow the band to strut their stuff for a song
The KAMI BAND comprises amazing session musicians, but it’s not a random pickup band. My understanding is there are roughly two musicians for each instrument (kind of like a sports team having two squads) and the join together as needed for touring and recording
Kami doesn't directly translate to 'god'. Perhaps more closely 'spirit'. In the shinto religion pretty much everything has its 'Kami'. Recall maybe 'Kami-kazi' or 'Spirit Wind'. If you're interested Shinto is: "A polytheistic and animistic religion, [that] revolves around supernatural entities called the kami. The kami are believed to inhabit all things, including forces of nature and prominent landscape locations. The kami are worshipped at kamidana household shrines, family shrines, and jinja public shrines." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinto
@@bradkornatowski3866 I suspect only because it gets so often repeated that they think it's true. The idea of all things having a spirit isn't so foreign to us. The concept was included in the book and series 'Shogun' without the need for further explanation. Consider for a moment the idea of a God of the forest (Faun?) and how that entity is distinct from a 'spirit of the forest' (ie. a collective nature spread across all things of the forest). I have this hatred of the assumption that people can't understand simple concepts that are foreign to us. It dumbs everything down to the point where a whole population completely misunderstands foreign cultures (as here) and perpetuates misrepresentations of what are really quite simple differences.
@@bradkornatowski3866 Not if the second law of thermodynamics is correct. Order only ever disintegrates into chaos (entropy), not the reverse. Originally one spirit band, one main singer (Suzuka) and two 'shouters and screamers'. We have already seen Moa change places with Su. Chaos is coming my friend. Prepare for members of the Kami Band doing elaborate dance routines up front with Su on drums. You heard it here first.
Vocal doubling is applied to all 3 girls most of the time during this tune. Their use of MIDI/automation during the show is insane. I caught a shot of the mobile workstation console they use to run it all at an outdoor live once, poss Download UK. They do go "all out" on production.
You should check out Ijime,Dame Zettai from the 2014 Sonisphere Festival. It's legendary in Babymetal lore because it's their first performance outside of Asia. You'll witness them win over 50,000+ hardcore metal fans 🦊🤘
Megitsune probably has definition of early Babymetal sound, and the highest rated in most fan polls too, but no each fan have their own top 1 song and a completely different list as the diversity of the fanbase and uniqueness of each song too
I love your reaction. Im a new subscriber from singapore. Pls do more babymetal reaction. Try BMC Live from babymetal And karate live @budokan from babymetal
Edit: RUclips yeeted my original post after an edit to change something. DragonForce is on the album, but the live is of course played by the Kami band. The eastern Kami band are session musicians, but they have been a stable lineup for as long as they were officially hired as the Kami band, except when Fujioka Mikio, one of the guitarists passed away in 2018 from falling off a platform while star gazing. There are then three guitarists that fill the two guitar roles when needed. The eastern band is : Takayoshi Ohmura (Guitar) ISAO (Guitar) Leda Cygnus (Guitar) BOH (Bass) Aoyama Hideki (Drums) The western band was added when the eastern Kamis couldn't dedicate themselves to world tours back in 2019, and have also been a stable lineup. They aren't session musicians, but we don't know what contract they have with them. Many of them actually have RUclips channels if you want to check them out. The western band is: Chris Kelly (Guitar) CJ Masciantonio (Guitar) Clint Tustin (Bass) Anthony Barone (Drums)
Chris, CJ and Clint are all members of the band Galactic Empire, a Star Wars metal tribute band (yes I know that sounds strange) that opened for Babymetal at their Dark Night Carnival show. After that they became members of the Western Kami Band. They still play as Galactic Empire and will be performing as Galactic Empire in some of the festivals Babymetal will be playing on their US tour.
This was the show closer when I saw them, and you are quite right, it's a great feeling to be in the crowd for this one! Su did the "parting of the crowd", but either there wasn't enough room or the British audience were a bit too restrained so it just created a small oval space. And the whole show was indeed an experience!
There is nothing wrong with "Gimme Chocolate" but most people reacting to it are coming from a Iron Maiden, Metallica background and it can come off as... weird? or gimmicky? I appreciate you guys being open minded. Great reaction! See you in the next video.
As soon as I saw you guys react to “Gimme Chocolate” my immediate thought was, “They have to do ‘Road of Resistance’ next.” So glad I was right! 😂 I called it! 🤘 😆
If you want to go on a musical journey then you should react to Tales of The Destinies followed by The One which is a companion piece to TOD. The live version from The Tokyo Dome 2016 would be the way to go for those two. Buckle up for these two because it's going to be a wild ride
I recommend Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!! to watch next. The MV and the Moabanger version - in that order. Megitsune MV also gives some good context. Edit: AKATSUKI, oh boy.
As far as live shows go, this is one of the few where it's worth every penny you pay to get in. They're coming to the US on a limited tour middle of this year. Can't wait. Haven't been this excited for a show since I was headed to Rage Against the Machine in 1999.
The ladies have been performing since their tweens. In Sakura Gaugkan and Karen Girls. You should see some of those too, like Over The Future. Su also acts, has been in several Japanese dramas and "soap opera" type "Dynasty/Dallas" shows.
9:17 ohmygooood you was pausing at the very right time, that was her super mega kamehameha cuteness. Yui team here ❤❤ the icon of babymetal, forever..!!
heard of babymetal years ago. never hated on them, but didn't really give them a chance either. since i really want to see dethklok, i figured i should at least get familiar with babymetal. the gravity of the fox hole is real. a few weeks ago, id have hated myself a little for even knowing that turn of phrase. but now im fucking addicted to watching reaction videos for an embarrassing amount of time. just wanted to say you guys have the best reaction videos to them and i'm pretty sure ive seen them all. i feel like i actually learn a thing or two watching yours, which is rarely the case aside from the charisma voice lady, who is also awesome.
I just got back from their show in Jakarta yesterday, I didn't even see her gesture in this song, she always does that I forgot about it, I was too busy positioning myself ready to wreak havoc.
RIP sweet, amazing talented Mikio Fujioka, aka Ko-Gami - the little god He was one of their guitarists. He never missed any of the girls performances. He was there for their milestones. He was extremely talented inside and outside of his playing for Babymetal. He unfortunately passed away from injuries of a fall on January 5th of 2018. He's forever present on stage with them.
Nice reaction. Good analysis of her vocals. Especially the change from the Gimme Chocolate to this. She's clearly older and her voice changed a bit. Also there sounds like some reverb from the stadium in there. and I'm pretty sure they were using some kind of repitched delay to thicken up her vocals and add some harmonic content.
¡Hola chicos! Desde que descubrí Babymetal no he dejado de disfrutar de su música. Es un viaje que me lleva del llanto a la alegría. Con Babymetal tienes que esperar lo inesperado. Te mando todo mi respeto y saludos desde Argentina! .... Hi guys! Since I discovered Babymetal I haven't stopped enjoying their music. It is a journey that takes me from tears to joy. With Babymetal you have to expect the unexpected. I send you all my respect and greetings from Argentina!
Not everybody likes what BABYMETAL is doing, and that's fine. But seeing a show like this, it's hard to deny that they are amazingly professional and know how to entertain a crowd.
But most of the big heavy metal band actually like them, they find them cute and a good if strange addition to the heavy metal genre
First festival appearance overseas
The day UK fell in love with BABYMETAL .
BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL)
This is the right next song
@@tackle47 yes.
Absolutely
I agree
There's epic. There's EPIC! There's EPIC AF!! Then there's Babymetal. 🦊🤘🤘🦊
Best word to describe Babymetal!🤘🦊🤘
jupp! 🤘🤘
The guitars part was written by Herman Li and Sam(Dragonforce), they played the guitars for this song album...
They don't actually have writing credits, just performance credits on the album.
Precisely. They just played on the album. And did a great job. 😎 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
@@allegoricalif u think they didn't write the guitars bits ur delusional. It's pure DF sound.
another great live video of theirs is "catch me if you can". it gives each band member a solo before the girls come out.
5:05 Reaction start.
Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥
Glad you're back with this suggestion and enjoyed this like fans are enjoying this recently live at Sabaton's Europe Tour in every night of the concerts.
In this case they are:
- Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording certain songs.
Another suggestion safe to react is:
- _Headbanger!!_ live at Legend 1997 held in 2013, you can find a clip safe to react at Gans Tomas channel under "Head Bangya" title.
Thanks for sharing this and hopefully this won't be blocked
See you next time!
I've rarely seen a band so good at crowd control and crowd participation.
That sparkly pink strat never fails to put a smile on my face! :D
BABYMETAL will go on co-headliner North American tour with DETHKLOK in August through October (26 concerts + 3 festival appearance in 23 US states + 2 Canadian provinces) ]
The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet.
Thank you, Japan. They are a great band. I'm going to my first show this fall. I'm so excited.
They're coming to my hometown! Got my tickets and now the waiting begins.
@@timruis7334 Congrats! Good morning from Japan 💛
PUT YOUR KITSUNE UP!!! 🦊🔥
These girls know how to put the show despite of their age.
Moa and Yui (the dancers) do some vocals, but most of the harmonizing you hear is a pre-recorded vocal track. It's not to take anything away from Su's live vocals, but just to add depth to the melodies, and perhaps to keep the sound of the studio album as close as possible.
This is a very common technique and takes nothing away from the performer.
Great reaction again, thank you for posting. This is certaintly one if their great performances, and Babymetal have so many more. I would suggest Headbanger at the Legend 1997 concert, where Su-metal celebrated her 16th birthday; it is a seething cauldron of awesomeness. Also Ijime Dame Zettai at Sonisphere 2014 where the girls played their first major gig outside Japan and knocked the socks off 40,000+ British metalheads who were wondering what three Japanese girls in red tutus were doing at their metal festival 😎
Enjoy the journey, there is so much fun to be had.
These are the perfect next step.
"I would suggest Headbanger at the Legend 1997 concert"
Suzuka was born in 1997, so I doubt it.
The grand Ladies of Japanese Metal
BABYMETAL FOREVER
🤘🤘🤘
Travelling over to Atlanta to see them for the first time in Sept. I'm stoked!
I was at that show. I posted some vidz on my channel.
Yeah, pretty fckn epic, isn't it?
The drummer is Hideki Aoyama. Drumming runs in his family's DNA.
The song doesn't have writing credits for them, but they are credited for playing on the album.
LMG is my second favorite BM show after Tokyo Dome.
@@allegoricalidk why on spotify they dont credit them, but in Google thay actually credited both of them
Great reaction with professional view! Su-metal is practicing full swing singing on the tread mill to sustain this power and the quality of singing in the concert. This is one of the big differences from other big name pop bands relying on back trackings.
many artists do this! recently chappel roan revealed that's how her voice stays so stable live
⁰⁰⁰⁰😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
People forget that Babymetal is not like any other band.
BABYMETAL is SUPREMACY!
Don't you give BANDMAID any shit, brother. Makes you come off as a certified idiot.
hate is such a strong word. I don't really listen to them, but I appreciate the skill they possess and I'm happy for them in the success they've had. Wagaki band is another band I think is unique and good, along with Nemophila.
Nice course correction with Babymetal! Good stuff
10:32 one reactor said in the slower section after the very fast section: "ohh, they take a break after that !" :-)
This was a 16 song setlist, the last 3 songs were the encore.
Yes ! Babymetal is an experience, very good. That is exactly what they are aiming for.
Babymetal actually has a song called: Arkadia
PS Hope your band does well as well.
How can you not love these girls. The kami band. THE energy. Everything combined is the complete package.
So young but so talented. Awesome.
herman li still keeps the guitar with which the song was recorded.
Yes, co-written by Dragonforce. Totally iconic performance!
They only played on it. And did a great job!🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻

Glad to have you guys back in babymetal. Once again welcome to the foxhole. See you at Mosh'sh pit in the near future.
If you're smiling and headbanging through this, their job here is done. Fucking god tier band
Great reaction! Hope too see more. Babymetal are amazing! Hit up Akatsuki, Headbanger (moa ver.) & Devine attack
It is a small detail but stellar job of a front person of a band.
by the second album, they did actually get a definitive band to play for them and I think its been that way since
Baby Metal isn't my style of music that I enjoy, but I respect the heck out of em for their showmanship, and the hard work they obviously put in to make that caliber of spectacle. They deserve every bit of their fanbase.
We fa have the ability to sense in advance what the Queen wants.
You really need to check out a mischief intro so the best one is Rondo of Nightmare Budokan Black Night with Mischief of the Metal Gods intro
The msuchief intros allow the band to strut their stuff for a song
Next baby metal - catch if you can live.
Love ur reaction 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The KAMI BAND comprises amazing session musicians, but it’s not a random pickup band. My understanding is there are roughly two musicians for each instrument (kind of like a sports team having two squads) and the join together as needed for touring and recording
Oh and BabyMetal will be in Florida this summer as part of their World Tour
My 3 year old grandbaby loves BabyMetal and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. She sings and dances right along in Japanese. LOL
One of my fav reactions to this performance, great stuff!
There you got to see the real BabyMetal. The Kami (God) band are just sooo good.
The kami are worshipped at kamidana household shrines, family shrines, and jinja public shrines."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinto
@@davebox588 Yeah but god is easier for people to understand.
@@davebox588 There was only Chaos and Energy. Chaos randomly produces order. Out of order we get BabyMetal. . Don't spirit me.
Hideki Aoyama is the most amazing drummer I have ever heard in my life. He is the god that I worship above all others.
They are most definitely worth seeing live. Babymetal puts on an incredible show.
Nice reaction. I keep waiting for Su to say "Are you Not Entertained? Are You NOT ENTERTAINED?"
*NOW THAT’S A FU€KING SHOW!!!*
You should check out Ijime,Dame Zettai from the 2014 Sonisphere Festival. It's legendary in Babymetal lore because it's their first performance outside of Asia. You'll witness them win over 50,000+ hardcore metal fans 🦊🤘
Wooooooooo hoooooo super banda las mire en un concierto en México y son sorprendentes muy buena banda saludos amigos
I think Megitsune is probably their best song. It has won fan polls and was covered by Nemophila. The official MV is fantastic.
Megitsune probably has definition of early Babymetal sound, and the highest rated in most fan polls too, but no each fan have their own top 1 song and a completely different list as the diversity of the fanbase and uniqueness of each song too
@@BadEnd98 my favorite is Catch Me If You Can. The level of cute + heavy is unmatched.
A young Asterism also covered it
I love your reaction.
Im a new subscriber from singapore.
Pls do more babymetal reaction.
Try BMC Live from babymetal
And karate live @budokan from babymetal
A Babymetal concert is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
Fun fact this was the last song of that concert and they still had that much energy
I love Babymetal I can't wait to sre them live 🔥🤘🦊
Herman Lee will tell you. We played guitar on a babymetal song.
great reaction🦊❤🍅
Edit: RUclips yeeted my original post after an edit to change something.
DragonForce is on the album, but the live is of course played by the Kami band.
The eastern Kami band are session musicians, but they have been a stable lineup for as long as they were officially hired as the Kami band, except when Fujioka Mikio, one of the guitarists passed away in 2018 from falling off a platform while star gazing. There are then three guitarists that fill the two guitar roles when needed.
The eastern band is :
Takayoshi Ohmura (Guitar)
ISAO (Guitar)
Leda Cygnus (Guitar)
BOH (Bass)
Aoyama Hideki (Drums)
The western band was added when the eastern Kamis couldn't dedicate themselves to world tours back in 2019, and have also been a stable lineup. They aren't session musicians, but we don't know what contract they have with them. Many of them actually have RUclips channels if you want to check them out.
The western band is:
Chris Kelly (Guitar)
CJ Masciantonio (Guitar)
Clint Tustin (Bass)
Anthony Barone (Drums)
your and my comment are gone too...?
Chris, CJ and Clint are all members of the band Galactic Empire, a Star Wars metal tribute band (yes I know that sounds strange) that opened for Babymetal at their Dark Night Carnival show. After that they became members of the Western Kami Band. They still play as Galactic Empire and will be performing as Galactic Empire in some of the festivals Babymetal will be playing on their US tour.
As an osu player that loves Babymetal, i can HEAR and SEE the map in my head (i have a weird memory for osu maps)
I called it! 🤘 😆
Welcome to fox hole, Please more babymetal!! Next babymetal "ijime, dame, zettai" live version🔥
Y'all should check out "Catch me if you can" that one really shows how badass the guys are
If you want to go on a musical journey then you should react to Tales of The Destinies followed by The One which is a companion piece to TOD.
BABY METAL 🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥
a math band named ‘LITE’ from Japan,,it's a amazing band,u will love it
9:17 ohmygooood you was pausing at the very right time, that was her super mega kamehameha cuteness.
Another video with great production is Pa pa ya, a collab with Thai rapper F. Hero. Either the official or live video.
RIP sweet, amazing talented Mikio Fujioka, aka Ko-Gami - the little god
He was one of their guitarists. He never missed any of the girls performances. He was there for their milestones. He was extremely talented inside and outside of his playing for Babymetal.
He unfortunately passed away from injuries of a fall on January 5th of 2018. He's forever present on stage with them.
These guys maybe ready for Rondo
True. But they need a few more before Babymetal Death.
