I have no idea how the drummer is still alive. He kept going, full attack mode. I was almost passing out just listening to him keep going, my legs are sore. There is just nothing like babymetal. They are a genre of their own, and its just so damn catchy and heavy at the same time

You don't have to like the music but you cannot deny the charm of Babymetal. What Babymetal is all about involves the smile that inevitably crosses your face when watching them. I call it the "Babymetal Smile". This was recorded when Su (lead singer) was 17 years old. They just released a new song, Divine Attack. You'll need to check it out to hear what she sounds like at 25 years old.

SUMETAL's stage presence is undeniable. You asked how long the band has been together. It's been about 10 years now, but, at the time of this recording, it was closer to 5 years. SUMETAL had those 22,000+ (sold out Tokyo Super Arena) concert goers under her charming command. Did you notice how she parted the crowd at the beginning, to make space for that giant mosh pit (which I've read, is very polite and friendly, as you predicted).
BABYMETAL's stage presence only becomes rightfully respected when you realize that this show was less than 3 weeks after SUMETAL turned 17! YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL were just 15 at this performance!

Well, it was their Corona-Collab and more or less an example of all other Collabs that they created from that time on. These Collabs are Commercially really lucatrive as they observed. But in fact they were in Hiatus and obviously Job Hunting since Babymetal was a 10 year project. But while they were Job Hunting they also wrote a propoasal under which circumstances they would be ready to continue Babymetal. And Koba agreed that they would try it. Since April 2023 they are the new Babymetal and the success shocked Koba, they dud dare things that he would not have dared and they worked. While the girls got older, they now dare to appear younger. The idea to wear cat ears in a video or on stage. And what do their fans say? "Cute!". Another change, they are respected. They can speak with Bands that never talked to them before. Since Sick New World 2024 there was a general change among many Bands.

"Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) -
Pretty much a master class in audience control.
BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song.
You can definitely feel the speed metal in this one though.
This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in January of 2015, with a sold out crowd of over 20,000.
BABYMETAL's lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto first appeared at SSA in 2008 as the youngest member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old.
She's been back many times since, headlining with BABYMETAL.
Guitarists for this concert were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus. The bassist was BOH, and the drummer was Hideki Aoyama.
Hideki's father and younger brother were also drummers, so it's kind of in his blood.

Polite mosh pit is called mosh'sh pit. 😁
Suzuka is a true professional. She has been working stages since the age of 5. There are videos on RUclips showing her performing as young as 7 years old. Her first pro gig was at age 10 as a member of Karen Girls before becoming a founding member of Sakura Gakuin, out of which Babymetal was born.
The guitar tracks for RoR was arranged and recorded in the studio by Herman Li and the other guitarist, whose name I forget of UK metal band DragonForce.
Side historical note; DragonForce snuck Babymetal on stage and performed "Gimme Chocolate" with them at Download 2015 after one of the event organizers put a pre-emptive ban on Babymetal ever performing at Download. The following year, BABYMETAL rocked the main stage at Download 2016 for 55,000 attendees. Kawaii conquers all! 🤘🦊🤘

Hideki Aoyama the drummer just might have legs made of steel springs😝 After a long hiatus Babymetal released a new song last week you might want to check out called"Divine Attack". But it's always fun to go back and look at classic BM like this song of which there are many. Megitsune, Karate and Headbanger just to name a few, you'll get many more suggestions from commentors I'm sure. The best way to experience this band is live just like you did here with R of R, live performances is where this band shines and thrive. they're going to start touring again early next year beginning in Japan so you might get your wish to see them live 🦊🤘

Great reaction. This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. This was also the end of a 90 minute concert and yes, they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world.
This was the official video, they actually cut that outro short by at least a couple of minutes (with Hideki and the Kami Band going at it non-stop) while the girls went to each different side of the stage to shout "We are ... BABYMETAL" with as many of the audience as they could get near to.
As well as that long central bridge out to the small stage there were two more bridges at either end of the stage leading to a couple more small stages that they used at various points in the show.
About 18 months later they sold out the Tokyo Dome (55,000 people) two nights running ... their stage there was spectacular.
About the song itself. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, I'm not sure the translation really works so well to convey what it is really about, but it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version - this performance was all the Kami Band's interpretation of course.
I will second includenull's recommendations for your next reactions:
    BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL)
BABYMETAL | Catch Me If You Can (with Kami Band Intro) | LIVE at Budokan Black Night (HQ)
    and
BABYMETAL | BABYMETAL DEATH | LIVE at Legend 1997 (HQ) [Intro subtitled]
but to be honest I will second everybody else's recommendations for whatever other BABYMETAL songs they have added, they are all great - I'd have to think hard about which might be more drum oriented - maybe xDeleilax's suggestion for 'Kagerou' with intro.

Nice reaction. Most of Babymetals bigger shows in Japan are full of stage theatrics. Makes them a lot of fun to watch. The Road of Resistance. Babymetal took that road. It was hard, dirty, rocky, unpaved, and mostly unknown with metalhead gate keepers. Babymetal paved it. Now thanks to Babymetal a lot of heads turned East to figure out what the heck is going on over there. Turns out. It was a lot. Now we have over the last 10 years new Japanese invasion. The last one was way back when Bands like X Japan and Loudness from Japan toured the world. Babymetal putting their own stamp in the metal world. Babymetals music is a Jpop vocals with heavy metal base along with whatever other musical style they want to use. Sounds easy but it turns out that it's actually kind of hard. Babymetal have made 3 albums this way and a 4th on its way in March. Rob Halford called them the monster ladies of metal. Which made them giggle. Because they're Kawaii metal after all. While the Kawaii part normally refers to the pop vocal and the dance. Sometimes it's just them. Here we get a fantastic combination of all of that. Plus the must have at every Babymetal show. The audience participation. The Babymetal fans are call the One. As in One with the band. Sometimes Su the lead singer will call for it. Like she did here. And other times they'll just point the mic at the crowd. Look for the many versions of Headbanger for that. Road of Resistance is a journey they took us on right along with them. Now it's your turn to go down the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛, especially for re-uploading this. The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. In your video, Su shouted some words at 10:39 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then. Last year (2021), on the final day (April 15) of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts, Su shouted the same words in the end-all of the show. She did it smilingly with matured, mild and friendly voice. It meant, I believe, "come on guys!" The audience smiled her back. I was there at the venue ヽ(^o^)丿

Great to finally have it released, on Reddit it said 10 months, auch !
Good reaction too. Can I say worth the wait ?
You are right, a Babymetal pit is the kindest in metal. In Japan especially, but also still in Europe. In the US they attract some casual fans or even non fans who can be drunk idiots.
So far closest Babymetal has been was a festival in Australia.
12:08 Funny thing is: their are 3 long stages at this show and they've actually ran over to all of them and thanked the fans, it was just shortened for the video .At Tokyo Dome second day, Babymetal's biggest shows, thus also biggest show, drummer Hideki kept it up much much longer and legend is that he had to be helped of the stage by his follow musicians or staff. I wasn't there, I didn't see it.
13:12 yes, lots of people like that in metal, who use the loud music and extreme vocals as an outlet for their anger or rage. It really has worked for lots of people. With other metal bands, some do end up in the moshpit and using that as a way to vent their anger, they are not appreciated. For some bands they are tolerated and sometimes even kind of expected though.
Babymetal tries to give us a much happier kind of metal and it also has helped lots of people out of a depression, etc. Also Babymetal is a gateway band into metal. A metal with a softer side to get into first. Babymetal's rise in Japan has supposedly even increased the sale of other metal bands foreign and domestic.

This performance is the one that truly sold me on Babymetal. I'd already seen Gimme Chocolate and Megitsune and had replayed those videos many times, but I wasn't yet a fan. The emotional ride on the Road of Resistance was my Babymetal Road to Damascus moment. By the end I was an emotional wreck. They took me from one peak to the next and it shows the talent and professionalism of the whole Babymetal team. I realized that BM wasn't a gimmick or even just heavy metal but a cross between metal/J-pop and a Broadway show carefully choreographed to manipulate your emotions in the best possible way. Su, Moa and Yui are able to control tens of thousands of people in the audience, which never fails to leave me astounded given their young age, but all the years in Sakura Gakuin, rehearsals and touring makes it seem effortless even as we worry if they can pull it off.
The song is about fighting against the odds and never giving up and talks about beacon fires which brings to my mind the resistance of Japan against the Mongol invasions. It has a strong DragonForce feel because Li and Totman from that band collaborated on it and played it on the album. There are many places that amaze in this performance including Hideki Ayoma's drumming or the guitar solos, but I really get the chills right after the crowd "wows" finish and there is the fast guitar riff and the girls' dance break end up with them standing strongly outlined by the stage lighting. For me that's where the music, choreography, staging and emotion all come together perfectly.
One thing to realize is that the crowd is a critical component in many Japanese band performances and they will have moments when they sing and even have choreographed movements. This is definitely the case for Babymetal and a big part of Yui's and Moa's job is to lead and encourage the crowd. There are online instructions for the crowd and even non-Japanese fans know what to sing in Japanese and when to join in with the dancing. You can see this participation in "Headbanger". So to see that, and for something fun, check out "Headbanger - Legend 1997".

This is such a good live performance, i absolutely love this band. Didn't care much for the 3rd album, as (in my opinion) it lacks the crazy, fast, hysterical and downright weird stuff they did on the first two records which i play really regularly. In fact, Babymetal is a band both me and my 7 year old daughter enjoy, she does entire dance routines and sings along phonetically, it's awesome. Couldn't be more proud :)
Fantastic band as well, can't wait to see them live once. They're coming to The Netherlands next year, but just as support for Sabaton. Which probably means 30 minutes, and really scaled down because the Sabaton tank is in the way... Hopefully they'll come back for a full headlining tour. Great reaction, as usual!

Yah, Babymetal came originally from a school for pop idol girls. Thats why it sounds so pop-y because these girls were trained in pop, and pretty much weren't even introduced to havy metal until their producers had the idea of making a mix between pop idols and heavy metal

    Road of Resistance
    Saitama Super Arena (SSA):-
"Road of Resistance" is a song by the Japanese Kawaii metal band Babymetal. The song was released worldwide as a digital single on February 1, 2015 by Toy's Factory, serving as the lead single off the international re-release of the album Babymetal, as well the opening track from Metal Resistance.
    "Road of Resistance":-
    •Single by Babymetal.
    •Album: Metal Resistance.
    •Language: Japanese, English.
    •Released: February 1, 2015.
    •Genre: Kawaii metal, power metal.
    •Length: 5:19.
•Label: BMD Fox, Toy's Factory, Sony Music Entertainment.
    •Composer: Mish-Mosh, Norimetal, Kyt-metal.
•Lyricist: Kitsune of Metal God, Mk-metal, Kxbxmetal.
    •Producer: Kobametal.
    •Kyoto: (arrangement).
    Babymetal singles chronology:-
    •"Megitsune" (2013).
    •"Road of Resistance" (2015).
    •"Gimme Chocolate!!" (2015).
    Background and release:-
"Road of Resistance" includes guest appearances by DragonForce guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman.
The song would be used to mark the beginning of the band's lore, Metal Resistance Episode III, at the concert held on November 8, 2014 at O2 Brixton Academy in London, which was also the final tour date for the band's Babymetal World Tour 2014.
A trailer for the song was released on January 5, 2015, integrating footage from the debut performance of the song in London. The song was first released as a digital bonus track off the live album Live at Budokan: Red Night, with limited editions of the album containing a download card with a code to download the song at no additional charge. The song was later released as a dedicated digital single on the iTunes Store on February 1, 2015.
Li and Totman are featured on guitars, although they are listed as featured artists in various regions of the re-release of the album Babymetal, on which the song appears as a bonus track, mainly in the United Kingdom.
    Composition:-
Rolling Stone described the song as "power metal" with "shiny pop harmonies". Rock Sound called the song "everything we’d expect from [Babymetal] with a bit of Dragonforce’s exhilarating, flame-fingered guitar added in for good measure." Matt Evans of The List called the song an "empowering hyperspeed anthem". According to Kadokawa, the song consists of twin shred guitars courtesy of Li and Totman, with a dynamic sound derived of melodic speed metal. The lyrics are described as a narrative on the Metal Resistance, which the band adopted on their world tour. It has also been considered the "final stage" of Babymetal and the prologue to Metal Resistance, and a transition performance that demonstrates the band's growth from the previous album.
According to Su-metal, the song refers to the Metal Resistance lore, described as "the story of Babymetal traveling across the world in the hopes of creating a new metal to unify the world as we break through the barriers of language and borders. In the middle of the song there is a part where we go, ‘Wow, Wow’ and this is where our fans from around the world can sing with us at our concerts. I hope people will listen to our album and support us at our shows." Yuimetal stated in an interview with Metal Hammer that "Road of Resistance" is her favorite song from Metal Resistance, explaining that it "has been performed at so many concerts, so a lot of memories are jam-packed. The lyrics are positive, the sound is so cool, and [the] dance is so powerful."
•Recorded by Watametal and Adrian Breakspear.
    •Mixed by Ettore Rigotti
    Personnel:-
    •Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) - Main vocals.
•Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) - Backing vocals.
•Moa Kikuchi (Moametal) - Backing vocals.
•Kei Kobayashi (Kobametal / Kxbxmetal / Kitsune of Metal God) - executive producer, lyrics.

    Saitama Super Arena:-
"Saitama Super Arena (さいたまスーパーアリーナ, Saitama Sūpā Arīna) is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Chūō-ku, Saitama, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. It opened preliminarily on May 5, 2000, and then officially opened on September 1 of the same year. Its spectator capacity is 36,500 at maximum settings,[3] making it the second-largest indoor arena in the world. The main arena capacity is between 19,000 and 22,500".
    •Owner: Saitama Arena Corp.
    •Capacity: 36,500 (stadium setting) 18,000 (arena setting).
The arena was designed by Dan Meis, who at the time was working for architecture firm Ellerbe Becket, together with Nikken Sekkei. Meis's design was selected as a result of an international design competition. The arena features a gigantic movable section of seating which can reduce capacity for smaller events and create a more intimate setting.
It is a favorite venue for puroresu (Japanese professional wrestling) and mixed martial arts (MMA). It has also hosted other sports events such as boxing, basketball, volleyball, tennis, ice hockey, and gymnastics. It is the only Japanese arena equipped especially for American football.
It formerly housed the John Lennon Museum, which displayed John Lennon memorabilia and closed in 2010.
