as much as i love the look of the arrma the xmaxx is probably going to remain king of durability for along time
Hey Kevin a great tip for the A-arms before upgrading is absolutely soak the arms in WD-40 let it set into the plastic, it will give it the flexibility it’s needs while maintaining its strength.
Maybe try that on your next Arrma rig I did it to my little granite and it really helped me as I don’t land great every time.

Try graphite spray on the ends of the drive shafts. It provides dry lubrication but won't collect dust and dirt.
I used to run my drive shafts without lubrication, and although wear wasn't a problem, they always produced an annoying squeaky noise. With a little bit of graphite spray that noise was gone.
Impressed with the drilling jig for the shock lower cups. Clever little idea!
Kev instead of threading the wheel hub and wrecking it, maybe just use a bit of wood glue to stop it vibrating loose all the time mate ? I do mean a tiny bit tho! and to be clear, never use super/strong glues! I use wood glue with plastic threads that vibrate loose mate. I don't use strong thread lock glues cos obviously it will just dissolve the plastic and effectively weld the fooker in!! lol. Awesome vid as always my friend!! Thanks!! Wes, Liverpool UK.

OK, so basically, take an Arrma, change nearly every part for really expensive upgrades, and it's then still not as good as an X-Maxx. Got it, cheers!

Y’all making me laugh taking what this guys saying as 100% like he’s not paid to promote Xmaxx. Plastic parts are 100% more durable for any RC just to start with! So those upgrades look nice and all but expect breaking stuff doing 20ft jumps and extras bashing like you will in the Xmaxx!

Love it Kev! You inspired me to brushless convert my old CEN magnum badger that broke years ago! Pulled it out of the shed, stripped off the blown nitro and got the bangood special ESC and motor along with the dumbo RC T and R. Thing is a rocket on 4s with a 20t pinion and 50t spur.
People argue the fact of adding so many upgrades to make it better, but it literally is apart of the hobby to break things and upgrade those parts to attempt to make it better.
I always like the wrench and upgrade video’s :) make more!
Love my outcast 8s. They only thing I ever broke was driveshaft pins.
I had an xmaxx and sold it after 4 months because it feels like a cheap fisherprice toy and it can't handle for shit.
I recently bought the Kraton 8s EXB that I'm super happy about.

That’s alright I’m sure you guys would be much better at body weight workouts/calisthenics than bigger guys, as a 150lb guy I rock climb instead of trying to hit big numbers I lift relatively light for looks and do body weight centric workouts to help climbing 😁

In regards to the shock diaphragm, Here's a trick I used for traxxas shocks for years, never once failed for me. I'd put it in the shock cap in the proper orientation to it's position in the shock, then screw the cap into position. I'd also not tighten too much, it's possible to push the diaphragm out of position or pinch it. It doesn't hurt to pit a little Teflon plumbers tape on the threads as well that will stop a lot of unavoidable leaks, due in part to mass production or possibly too tight of cap placement
For the motor wires, I just take a screwdriver and spread open the pin so when you put it back in, it’s a tighter fit.

Kev I wish you would say how much all that stuff has cost. Money is a factor when it comes to comparing rc's. Even if you made the armma more durable and faster than the X maxx, if it cost a grand more coz of all the parts then there's no way anyone would buy the arrma over the X maxx if that's what you have to do to make it any good 🤷🏻♂️
He has spent a grand more on that thing at the minimum.
That m2c stuff is NOT cheap.

I'll take the Outcast, in stock form, all day. That's impressive it landed from basically the moon on its side and only broke a few small pieces. I've seen the Xmaxx explode from much lower heights and at lower speeds.

Well said! the best car is the one that puts a bigger smile on your face. One quick tip, the EC5 (I think?) connectors you are running on the outcast 200Amp capable but the ESC is. So watch out for that, they have been know to melt. But you do you!
Kev early pls get a mn86k 1/12 crawler kit or the rtr and make it a ultimate brushed crawler on the cheap side😅😅(If you have time😄)

Great video! Outcast really is a beast but it definitely needs some upgrades to make it more durable. Out of the box there’s no comparison for me I still have to keep the XMaxx on top of my list for now. Kev when I’m doing shocks I do everything the same except I pull the shock shaft back down once putting the bladder on top. This will help seat the bladder on the shock body so it doesn’t move when you put the cap on. 👊👊👍👍
The 6s Outcast with full basherqueen carbon fiber parts and a carbon fiber chassis is the king of bashing to weight fun.
Only found your channel a couple of weeks ago so I am binging on old vids. With all the upgrade on this truck it just reminds me of Triggers Broom 🤣

Hey Kev! You prefer not to lube the driveshafts but if you want them to be a little bit more reliable, you can use the muc-off C3 ceramic lubing stuff, because it removes any dirt and water. It also makes ‘em super duper smooth, and by using it on my Hoss, it’s now a rocket ship! (Note that I use the fastrax driveshafts, blue aluminium, they make them for the front as well now!)
Great video Kev! I just had some marketing advice for your shirts and hoodies. I think if you were to wear some of them in your videos, more people would be likely to buy them. It’s just a great way to put them out there and for people to see how they look on a person.
Was a tough choice between the Outcast and Kraton 1/5 scale Exb rollers. Decided with the Kraton last week. How about a 1/5th scale bash video of the big boys! Cheers Kev

Easily another £800 in mods on it, but the Xmaxx isn't standard either so price difference may not be all that much,
I have $1400 into my Outcast EXB 8S but it has the 7075 chassis and all upgraded parts I havent broke it yet running the max5 with the 800kv can
M2C for life
M2c should come out with their own rolling chassis.

Actually, for me personally i would drive the outcast because it handles good. When you break it you can fix it and i have no problem with that
Plus when you fix the Arrma the upgrade that are available for it make it so you can virtually eliminate the problem after the first time

Kev, if you fill your schocks its better to leave them halfway the travel , and not all the way down. The bigger /longer the shaft the more oil gets displaced. The diafragma / rubber dome / whatever ;-) can only hande X amount of oil displacement. Therefore if the shaft is all the way down when filling , the vacume it creates is "to much " and the diafragme will get suckt inside causing the oil to escape. Its just a tip !

Great install and Bash of them extra M2C hop Ups brother. Those shock shafts are tank... I saw when you first put those bladders in I was like 🤔🤔 but you got Em sorted looks. Some bad luck on the Max5 (warranty👍) 😳
Been wondering about them RPM arms 🤔 they took that one REALLY bad crash😱👍. Can't understand why RPM didn't add droop screws for them but the added durability I guess is a stronger choice. With them M2C Rod ends shouldn't have to worry about broken ends🤞

I not worried about the droop screws in a basher, in my experience droop screws don't help the shock ends at all because there is so much leverage and flex in the arm that the load it relieves off the shockend is almost 0, in my opinion!

Can't speak for the kraton 8s but my kraton 6s gen 1 and 2 were tanks. I love me some arrma vehicles but I also love my traxxas vehicles just as much. Great video as always Kev! Keep em coming brother.

@@tonyb2179 just remember he has had to do a ton of mods to his xmaxx in order for it to handle his abuse as well. The Arrma actually has some permanent fixes to its problems though and is way easier to work on.
