Nice work man! I’m an amputee, quite new to MTB, so magnetic pedals are a great solution for me. Thanks for helping make up my mind for me on this product.
I have used these pedals for about 6 months, I am happy, but I think that if I used them with five ten shoes, it would work better I see them flatter It is just an opinion, since I use crankbrothers mallet shoes it has curve, from time to time it loosens the left foot I am not a black trail mtb but in blue trail it has happened to me it has been difficult to see good reviews of these pedals, there are other magnetic hustle bike pedals on the market that I would like to try later, thanks for your good reviews and helping the community mtb
Just got mine and rode for 5 sessions. Definitely loving it but takes a lot of effort and time to adjust it. Have you tried adjusting the height of the magnet? The height is a game changer, the clicking noise and loosing grip on rough rock gardens are gone. Give it a try! Cheers
can you lower your magnet on the pedal? from what I've seen in reviews this is adjustable, right? So lowering the magnet would pull your shoe into the pins more.
Definitely 👍 I could have messed around with it more, but I wanted to return the pedals before the 30 day return policy. I’ve ultimately decided I’m better off with a good set of flat pedals.
I like clippless for xc and road bikes but I have tried it for trail and pike parks and it's a no go for me .. I want to be able to immediately unclip if I'm in a slow tech climb or if I have to bail on a jump and I just can't do it fast enough without loosing the clips super light but then they move around and don't feel good at all . I'm sticking with my crank brothers stamp7 pedals and a good flat bottom shoe
Crank bros make some good pedals. I’ve rode those before. I’m now riding with the PNW pedals on one bike and One Up pedals on another. PNW Range composite pedals are my favorite so far.
@@JaredHoff ok good to know , I'll have to try the pnw pedals for my next set. I'm looking at a new Enduro , trying to decide between the giant reign sx with the fox 40, Cannondale jeckll and the intense tracer 279. And so I'll grab those pedals with whatever I choose..
So MagPed does have a list of recommended shoes to use with this pedals. I have not purchased yet, so has anyone tried with the recommended FiveTens or other shoes?
People have replied and said they work good with different shoes. For me it was $250 on the pedals and didn’t want to spend even more on new shoes. But MagPed did refund me $225 even returning them used.
Old video, but did you ever feel like it positions you foot too far back? I keep the ball of my foot forward on my flat pedals. Whenever ive tried clipless, thats been one of my biggest complaints.
@@JaredHoff i ride clipless pedals on road. Ive dabbled with clipless on the mtb but it never feels likes supporting my foot the same way. And it also feels like my foot is too far back on the pedal. Flats are fine by me!
I just wrapped up 200 miles riding these Magpeds and it was a love hate relationship. There are too many design flaws with this particular magnet pedal. There is a well known clicking that always comes back regardless of following Magpeds greasing recommendations. Magped fully acknowledges this is a design flaw. These pedals are a good middle ground between flats and clip-ins but they too have trade offs. You still pop off on chattery chunder and although the magnets are strong enough to be able to pull up the bike with your feet, its nowhere near as secure as clip-ins. All that said, not for everyone but a good middle ground or transition. Over all 5/10
The Slash 8 is an amazing. I definitely wouldn’t go any higher than that in the model range. I’m actually starting to look more into budget enduro bikes myself. Trek definitely isn’t budget 😂 but Slash 8 is a great bike.
Efter seeing your video, in the beginning I was convinced to buy one of these, but going through your video. I am definitely not buying these. Thanks good video
Just watched you follow up video as well. I have the Enduro 2 (3months) and the Ultra 2 (6 months). I like the concept and for the most part it worked fairly well but I agree they sit in the middle and dont do either thing well (flat vs clipped). But the real big issue is the poor quality of build. Ive had the magnet bolts come out a few times, pins disappear, spindle end cover caps disappear and most disappointing the bearings in both my sets have gone to shit (pedal has a ton of play in and out and up and down). Compared to my one ups (4 years) and dagga (2 years) with zero issues. Really could not recommend these.
I tried a couple different ways, but the pedals always seem to lack the grip of flats and lack the locking in of clips. Kind of an unhappy medium, but that’s just my humble opinion.
@@JaredHoff i really want to try magnetic pedals but i don’t think these are quite yet there. i like the reviews for the Hustle magnetic pedals if going from flats but its really annoying that they won’t ship them to Europe 🫤
I am running these pedals and am using shimano am903 shoes they have just a medium compound rubber sole , but I feel pretty planted using the shoe and pedal , I am on the strongest magnet , and did spend a bit of time getting the height just right , the metal is only a few mm from bottom of sole … I never knew about the gold plate , I might look into them , for me there not perfect but still 8/10 fairly confident in my foot staying still and in contact with pedal over rough terrain and small jumps .,
Why didn't you get 510 spd shoes. Why didn't you try it with your normal flat pedal shoes to see if that was the problem? Also, the shoes have too much rocker. They need to be flat. You wasted your money because the shoes you bought aren't on the approved shoe list on the website. That
I hear ya. The pedals were already pretty expensive, and I didn’t want to have to buy new shoes as well since I already owned these ones. But you’re probably right that the pedals would work better with different shoes. I’m back to riding flat pedals and love it. I think I’m just a flat pedal guy for life 🤷🏼♂️

Look down through the comments. I know people have said, there are other brands that make a better magnetic pedal.
@@JaredHoff Will do, thanks for the heads up. Any specific suggestion or recommendation from your side?

You should try MagLock pedals, they have a bigger magnetic surface plate.
Thanks for the recommendation man I’ll check those out.

Thanks for the advice I’ll definitely try just in the height of the magnet
@@JaredHoffyou made a hole review without adjusting the magnets ? Also the pin setup is crucial for strong connection between the magnetics

Did you have a clicky noise when climbing? If so, were you able to remedy it?
Yes! I remedied it by returning the pedals and getting my money back 😂
Same here
U need to put Grease under the magnet, theres a how to video on magped website

Definitely positions my feet differently than when I ride flat pedals. I’ve just came to realize I’m a flat pedal guy for life and I’m okay with that.

Are these better than flats?
No. Not in my opinion.
how do the hold up after a year?
I returned them ASAP. Wasn’t happy with those pedals at all. I don’t know anyone that’s had these pedals long term 🤔
