Its a twin-turbo 3.5 petrol 6 pot and it's stellar, decent on the fuel economy and has great performance.
I don't think the GV80 was a copy of the Bentayga specifically, but Genesis sedans have copied design elements from Bentley from the beginning...and then they hired hired Bentley's head exterior designer (who is Korean) way back in 2016. I think the GV80 actually has fewer Bentley references they some of their other cars.
I'd have this over any German SUV. I've seen these in the metal and the build and feel of these is fantastic. Also for me you don't see them everywhere which is a big thing. 1. 4-cylinder engine - V6 3.5L twin-turbo gasoline engine is provided in Korea and the United States. The reason for not offering it in Europe seems to be that they thought that Europe would not prefer gasoline high-volume engines. 2. Bentley Designer -A few years ago, Hyundai Motor Group recruited Bentley designer Luc Donckerwolke (current Hyundai Motor Group CCO and Genesis President) and Lee Sang-yeop (current Hyundai Motor Group vice president and head of Hyundai Motor Design Center). 3. Comfort - Even in Korea, the ride quality of the GV80 was evaluated as being too soft. The reason for this is the lack of experience as it is the first model of the Genesis brand SUV. After that, the second model, the GV70, is generally well received. +Currently, rumors are circulating that a facelift will be released in the second half of this year in Korea.
Genesis is a darn good brand. Reliability of a Hyundai and the design of a BMW. Genesis took a designer from BMW while back That's why their vehicles have been looking so nice the past few years. The g70 with the 3.3 is a helluva car.

The GV70 is where it's at from a design, handling, and price perspective. Unless you must have 3 rows I'd stick with the GV70.
allways amazed these videos when its snowing and cars does not have wintertires.
In the US, we just purchased the 3.5 liter V6. It's nice and quick but gas mileage is not great. I have a BMW M6 so I know quick. Strange that its not available in the UK. Also, I think you have the white noise feature on the loud setting because ours is very quiet.
Can we all stop and respect matt for shooting a video under falling snow ?
Genesis is the new Lexus. Reliable, quiet, super comfortable and quite luxurious at a modest discount to established luxury brands. Styling is attractive but not wacky (like Lexus today). Recently had a G80 sedan for a few weeks and was impressed by materials, attention to detail, quiet ride and tech. I would definitely buy a G90 and am waiting for GV90 SUV, which is coming soon.
It’s like Lexus cause they copied Lexus lol.
It’s like Lexus cause they copied Lexus lol.
I got into one of these at a car show recently and it was one of the nicest cars there
Love the GV80 and another great review from you Matt. On the engine choices the diesel would always be my pick but it's a shame the UK doesn't get the other petrol that we do here in Australia and the USA also gets. Its a twin-turbo 3.5 petrol 6 pot and it's stellar, decent on the fuel economy and has great performance.
probably because of emission regulations and EU rules.
Even here in the Middle East, it comes with the TT V6 engine
I REALLY LIKE THE FACT THAT EDITOR HAS PUT A FRAME OF BENTAYGA FROM THE SIDE PROFILE FOR UNDER THE SIDE MIRRORS
HES SO CREATIVE AINT HE?
Matt, try a GV70 Electrified - stunning bit of kit. Best of IONIQ 5 & GV80 combined.
He’s already tried the petrol GV70. In that review he talked about the EV GV70
What’s pretty cool is that at least in Canada You’re able to get a six cylinder turbo as well as a little bit of a higher level trim than the UK
This green colour is amazing in real life and there really is a nod to Bentley with that grille and the Bentayga-esque haunches
Is it just me or has Matt become a tired and jaded car journalist
Thanks for watching. congratulations you've been selected among my 3 lucky winners for my Giveaway season DM for your price Now👆👆👆🎁🎁🎁🎉🎉....
I really love it, I like brands that nobody wants. just like to be different.
@real_carwow01 "lol"
Me too mate, it's great to be different! 👏🏻👏🏻
The exhaust tips are the same shape as grill. A theme carried throughout the vehicle.
Oooh Mat…you are the most funny car reviewer ever 😂😂
He's my favourite comedian as well as car reviewer
Why do you only mention the bhp on diesel engines rather than the more important torque figure?
It may be worth considering, once its 2 years old at under half new price.
Display gauges in GV70/80 are slightly pixelated when in 3D. Switching to 2D will give you really sharp graphics.
The way that the Hyundai group went from the worst top gear award into the speed of the murcielago is just insane in under 20 years.
At 20:32, why is the car displaying the warning in Czech?
I like to think of the GV80 as if Aldi or Lidl built a Bentley Bentayga. Which is no bad thing at all!
1. 4-cylinder engine
- V6 3.5L twin-turbo gasoline engine is provided in Korea and the United States. The reason for not offering it in Europe seems to be that they thought that Europe would not prefer gasoline high-volume engines.
2. Bentley Designer
-A few years ago, Hyundai Motor Group recruited Bentley designer Luc Donckerwolke (current Hyundai Motor Group CCO and Genesis President) and Lee Sang-yeop (current Hyundai Motor Group vice president and head of Hyundai Motor Design Center).
3. Comfort
- Even in Korea, the ride quality of the GV80 was evaluated as being too soft. The reason for this is the lack of experience as it is the first model of the Genesis brand SUV. After that, the second model, the GV70, is generally well received.
+Currently, rumors are circulating that a facelift will be released in the second half of this year in Korea.
Not as comfy as Bentley but I think that car drives really good too on any good road surfaces
Yeah.. for 1/3 the price.. the drive is worth it
Reviewed it last year and it was great. That said, we get the 3.5-liter turbo V6.
Mat, please review Hyundai Elantra N someday. It’s one of the greatest fun cars Hyundai N has produced.
Genesis quality is amazing. My dad has an 09 and nothing besides a pulley and the rear camera and battery has needed replacing
Amazing car…I bet that the 3.5L V6 petrol that I have in the US would have impressed Matt. Thanks for the great review.
I absolutely love this car, shame we are hamstrung in this country regarding engine choices.
The Genesis is a very nice suv 🚙 but
Let’s be honest no one is cross shopping it with a Bentley Bentayga 😂
I agree it’s all about brand identity and no offense Genesis has none it’s just a Hyundai 😢
Actually a Wall Street billionaire bill Hwang owns a genesis gv80
@@benbixby Absolutely. Lexus is just a Toyota agree?
@@재영이-g5u yes a Lexus Is a Toyota product and BMW owns Rolls Royce …
@@benbixby Bugatti is just a VW
Love the blue berry jacket matt

Thanks💖For washing, hit me for more tips on investment.
Genesis GV80 is definitely the Korean Bentayga but it's not a copy!
Again you're quoting mat🤔
it’s a knock-off
In America there is a 3.3L Twin Turbo engine option.
In the US we get a V6 turbo option without about 360hp. A good tube could probably get it up to 400hp
Genesis is a darn good brand. Reliability of a Hyundai and the design of a BMW. Genesis took a designer from BMW while back That's why their vehicles have been looking so nice the past few years. The g70 with the 3.3 is a helluva car.
And Albert Biermann, one of the Executives from Hyundai Kia Genesis was coming from BMW too...😉
///N instead of ///M. "Notorsport"
Imagine the marketing team after that accident
The 2021 G80 3.5T AWD is on my shortlist for when my 2021 K5 lease is up! Some of the most feature rich and reliable cars; they just don't have the brand recognition
Investing in crypto now should be in every wise individuals list, in some months time you'll be ecstatic with the decision you made today
I heard a lot of investing with Akilina Nosova and how good she is, please how safe are the profit?
After watching so many RUclips tutorial videos about trading I was still making losses untill Akilina fan started managing my investment now, I make $6,800 weekly. God bless Akilina Nosova . She has been a blessing to my family.
She's active on telegram
@Akilinanosova
I'm glad to see Akilina mentioned here, my spouse recommended her to Me after investing $4000 and she has really helped us financially in times of COVID -19 lockdown here in Australia 🇦🇺
I love the new editing style and all the new joke bits!!
This car came out 2019 in korea. It's been designed by Luke Donker Volke who used to be designer of Bentley .
I hate to tell you this, Matt, but it DOES come with a 3.5L turbo V6, making 380 horsepower. Why are they not offering that in the UK is beyond me.
I really want the gv70 but idk about the quality of genesis are they badly built?
Was the driver's display in Czech? Well done Matt!! :)
I like this car. It seems to have an invisible touch, yeah. It reaches in, and grabs right hold of my heart.
1:01 the taillight from that angle look similar to the ones that found in Aston martin cars, specifically with that green color
Quality for a reasonable price 👏
The lack of a panoramic roof, let alone a sunroof, is a huge oversight
One of these lowered slightly with the silver/chrome color matched, debadged, with some nice looking aftermarket wheels would look really really nice.
